I think that's what makes the Mandela Catalog much scarier than some other analog horror. It focuses on the atmosphere and sounds a lot more than other analog horror, as well as the monsters and not having a consistent form or shape which makes predicting what's gonna happen a lot harder .

What I've appreciated about analogue horror is that even though there's a lot of general cribbing, it's nowhere close to the stifling antagonism to creativity that was youtube unfiction projects ten years ago when Slenderman was king. Not only was it filled to the brim with marble hornets rip-offs, but any genuinely unique project would get actively ignored and sidelined by a fanbase that was obsessed with only one thing: tall bois. So sure, the focus on MC is a bit annoying, but as long as new channels with unique ideas are still getting time in the spotlight, it's progress.

Horror isn't always just jumpscare after jumpscare, this counts under psychological horror to where the situation alone is what causes the fear and uncertainty

The fact that the original videos rarely use jumpscares is something I wish they could have implemented in this game. The tension mark felt when he knew he was going to be caught by the alternate was because of that. This game has a lot of potential though!
