muscled NPC: "My Astrid... scared her so much she broke her reins... without her my cart's not going far" splat, mind only on muscles: "I thought he was talking about a woman"
i thought the blacksmith dudes voice actor was splat doing the voice! it took me that whole first convo to realize it was a voice actor and not splat lmao
one thing that always bothers me for every side-scroller is how your character switches hands based on the direction you're facing. when facing left, your character is left-handed, when facing right, your character is right-handed
One thing that bothers me... is every single video being released by SplatterCatGaming is highly praising every game. The equivalent of someone telling every single restaurant in the city is amazing and awesome. I guess he's getting paid to constantly give compliments for each game.
In his intro video , he specifically states that he generally doesn’t do videos on games he doesn’t like. Brings him no joy to shit on things, as much as it does for many.
@@NTJedi there are youtubers who only play games that suck just to shit on them, it's a whole part of youtube, SplatterCat isn't one of those. He plays games he thinks look good and interest him and shares them on his channel.
@@NTJedi- "sifting through the pile to find what's worthwhile." His friggin mission statement is pretty much bringing indy games that he likes to the attention of his viewers. That said, he often gives critiques as to what a game did well, is questionable, or needs improvement.
@@Texas240 Some of the games he's reviewed look downright terrible or boring. If people took his advice for games based on the title of his videos we would all have bought Dozens of different games.
The game looks very polished, though it might be borrowing a bit too much from Dark Souls in terms of how stats work. Splat reached new heights of obliviousness in this video. Got a spellbook to learn Firewall from the first boss and never used it. Thought the blacksmith's animal was a woman when he clearly talked about "her" pulling his cart. Walked into Wickham and went right past a big glowing chest without opening it, then found a secret passage and never went through the door.
Lol i love your off topic interim chat 🤣 all that dog play.. if i were to marry, i’d wish to have a dwarven themed wedding and you as a bard 🤣🤣🤣 you are the best 🤣👌❤️🫡
Why do indie devs all think that putting a stamina meter in your fast-paced action game makes it better? Looks pretty fun despite the terminal amounts of Dark Souls disease, though
Looks smooth. Not clear how much fighting style customization it has. I'd like to see some properly big heavy maces where you gotta really time your slow swings.
Every single video being released by SplatterCatGaming is highly praising every game. The equivalent of someone telling every single restaurant in the city is amazing and awesome. I guess he's getting paid to constantly give compliments for each game... wish we had a more balanced honest response for games.
@@NTJedi yeah small indy devs are well known for vast wealth they have access to bribe people. There are plenty of youtubers who just make videos to insult devs and games, other youtubers only play games they find interesting and like rather than games they hate.
@NTJedi well he doesn't give advice, he just plays the game and talks about it. He isn't a reviewer, there isn't a score at the end. It's a channel that showcases indy games he finds interesting.
I really liked this one, but i think it could be a just a little harder, it felt like most enemies were a little slow, or with a little less range than it should. If they attack you should need to block or dodge, you should not be able to walk/run away of most of the attack animations
Splat: "I've played a lot of Dark Souls games at this point" Also Splat: "how do I get my potions back?" Those animated portraits are amazing, too bad the voice acting is questionable... Also; heh, fear wood.
it seems like Grim Dawn went Symphony of the Night with the dark fantasy art direction, side-scrolling platforming and vast skill trees. They even hired some super mediocre voice actors 3:30! That gave me some English voice acting Dracula nostalgia: "What is a man? A miserable pile of secrets. Have at you!" That guy is awful, I hope he's a placeholder in this demo. Otherwise, it's a cool metroidvania with great animation.
If you were new to this and didnt know Splatt doesn't listen to story much can be questionable why he thought a woman may have been chained to a cart to pull it.
meh idk, i really dont feel like playing another MonkeyIsland in 2023, sidescrollers seem soooo outdated! & honestly stupid for an rpg! PS: why is there Diablo3 tagged below this?
"My Astrid... scared her so much she broke her reins... without her my cart's not going far" Later: Splatt, "oh, we're not saving a woman?" I see how you treat your wife ;P
21:15 "I'm a big secret-finder." Well, you missed a big obvious one. Where you walked through the fireplace and down the stairs, you then went out the back door. You could have turned around and jumped up onto the platform behind you. I haven't played the game yet but I'll bet they were hiding something up that way too.
This seems pretty great, but I can't say I'm a fan of you smelting ingots to upgrade your gear with. That 'crafting' system just seems like unnecessary complexity. Either give the player ore and have upgrades require ore, or give them bars and have upgrades require bars.
12:50 This is why that scene in Ready Player One is beyond stupid. You're telling me out of billions of players, no one ever once went reverse at the starting line? That's so unbelievably stupid. Man that movie sucked. I suspect the book is about as bad.
Hey, Mr. "I'll go through entire levels over & over again to find all the secrets:" You missed a chest there. Had you gone up & to the right in the section with the first spike trap, you'd have gotten another chest. Don't know what's in there, but it was a pretty big chest.
Guy Def plays some cool games, get to see a lot of stuff I wouldn't have otherwise. Just wish I wasn't getting annoyed with his commentary within 2 to 3 min of every video I watch of his. Then I just have to mute. But yeah I guess he doesn't read so really no point in letting him know how annoying his commentary is.
looks super cool but the voice acting... hope there's an option to turn it off, unless I want intense comedy vibes cause I started laughing hysterically.
Mandragora is also the name of a Czech movie that'll scar you for life. Anyway I think the animation has a strange sort of molasses flow to it, and I like it and don't like it at the same time... I dunno how else to phrase it...
Hello Splattercat, how would a solo developer reach out to you for the request a game coverage on your channel? I've been developing a game for a while and want to send you a key.
SplatterCatGaming is highly praising every game. The equivalent of someone telling every single restaurant in the city is amazing and awesome. I guess he's getting paid to constantly give compliments for each game.
@@NTJedi He didn't getting paid. It's just he gets games ahead of "normal" players. If he would shit on those games - he would lose the ability to have games before the schedule. Same with all other RU-vidrs that review/preview games that are not out. The difference with Splat - he tries to not review really shitty games at all.
@@igorthelight Some of his game reviews are from bad games. Just difficult to accept his advice when the titles for most of videos have overwhelming praise for games.
Splatt "How about we send the philistine over there instead of David" Me - Shoots coffee out my mouth laughing!!! We love ya Splattercat! Never change man!
I get the (kind of) guy who didn't know you stream. I've literally been watching hundreds upon hundreds of your vids, full length, and just recently saw you have a channel membership. Needless to say I joined up.
Ever since I saw the first trailer for Mandragora, I've been extra-eager to get my hands on it. It looks SO GOOD, can't wait for the release. Lord help me, I might just buy a game on release!
you can parry projectiles. that's pretty neat. i think the damage thing is more about upgrading items, since your starting weapon looks fairly weak and slow.
