Same. It's so genuine and just says so much about the power of a hit that was 20 plus years ago and they hear the chords. Ugh!!!! love that part. my fav if anything.
I love how the audience came in strong with that intro!!! Really love this era of hers where she’s embracing her older songs that some of us connected with so much. Her voice is timeless to me. 👌💛
It's great that she made her peace with "Candy". She was ashamed for the song for a very long time. It's wonderful how she grew up and found her place as an artist. I wish her all the luck in the world. She is so natural and kind.
Yes! I never thought I’d hear her sing it again. She’s so talented and this song is how so many of us discovered her. Love her so much, wish she would sing more.
Yo this band and her 2022 vocals are EVERYTHING!!!! This feels nothing like the bubblegum sound it used to be!!!! I looooove this rendition of the song!!!!!
I think that in the original recording of the song she's kinda overusing the vocal fry (channeling Britney Spears) and also bringing in some overused soul overtones (channeling Christina Aguilera), and the fact that she was being forced to copy other's trends is why she has resented her pop career for so long. This might be much closer to her own personal interpretation of the tune, which already makes it quite special :)
When you get signed to a record label, they fight with you and try and get you to sing and sound a certain way. You either play that game or don't. Even people like Josh Groban WAY back years ago was signed and given a vocal coach for over a year to sound like the Josh Groban you hear today before recording his album. Women have it worse, and Mandy Moore was competing with Britney, Christina, and Jessica Simpson during those years.
@@jimmorrison4ever529 and she can out sing all except Christina. And they can’t really be compared because she’s got a sweetness and almost like a Burlesque dancer, she gives just a bit of sexiness and reels it back. Christina is less subtle. She is all power and a more in your face sex bomb. When she sings Dirty it’s very believable. My only complaint is that I think Christina does too many “ fills” and it can come across as just making noise just because she can. When it comes to Britney, no matter how many times someone says “ oh she can really sing!” , I just don’t hear it. There is so much auto tune and limited range. She has the same dance moves over and over and the sexiness is contrived. She’s more a performance Artist to make up for the limited range she has vocally. I think she was pushed way too soon, too young into being sexualized which is a common mistake in the industry. You see Mandy Moore and Debbie Gibson being able to cross from innocent child star into Womanhood without crossing into the raunchy side. That is how they remain timeless and in my opinion more powerful. They seem to be able to not go off the rails, or wind up with serious substance abuse issues , they aren’t all over in tabloids with salacious dramatic headlines etc. It must be that they have a strong and Loving support system with peoples around them that helped to guide and protect them along the way without exploiting them for their own gain. As such they have become strong Ladies in charge of their careers. Britney and Christina both have rather tragic childhoods and in Britney’s case add serious mental health issues with a greedy “ parent “ and sibling . Sorry for long response here. 😆 I’m kinda sleepy, was kinda on a tangent here and hopefully it makes sense. After I’ve slept I will likely wake up and think “ yeah.. probably should not have typed all of that.”🤦♀️🤷♀️
A classic from a beautiful person. Seen a Interview years ago when she said...." I might not be the best I just wanna be remembered for the right reasons " ......Then......yah
I know she isn’t or wasn’t a big fan of this song for a long time, she still got it though and I think her sound is even better than it was back then this song is Mandy, I love this song because it reminds me of my childhood I liked her way more than Christina , Britney and the others from that time ,Mandy was different but in a good way ,Mandy Moore is awesome 😎
Honestly, I wasn’t a big fan of the song back then but this made me smile the entire time. It’s nice to see her reconciling her old self with her new self. You can only do that when you’re really secure with your new self.
Great live performer! I always loved this song. So glad to hear that she is finally getting comfortable owning her past as a teen pop star-no shame in it. She was and still is so talented-no auto tune like most pop stars today. A great song and great talent never goes out of style.
LOVE how comfortable she is with her groove and movements!!!! LOVE how she friggn ROCKS her preggo bump and comfy clothes. All in all…..100 %!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can’t stop watching this video. It’s so beautiful. She’s performing with her husband while pregnant with her baby, singing the song that introduced her to the world and everyone is singing along.
I was glad she was able to reconcile with her songs from when she was a teenager. I know as a woman in her 30s, looking back at her teen self was probably a little embarrassing. But I don’t imagine her singing any other songs at that age. She was introduced to us at the age of 15. It would have been disingenuous of her to be singing about love and heartbreak at that age. This pop song comparing love to candy was perfect for that time. And the fact that she did the spoken word and everybody followed along, gave me life.
omg this is so beautiful. I think an artist doing something like this shows they're not insecure and they know they had a massive hit, but they're not a one hit wonder. They had fans who followed them from the beginning.
I was so Mandy obsessed as a teenager! I even met her in person once and she was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO nice, sweet, pretty, gracious! I’ll always love her for that 💓💓💓💓
I LOVE that she's been able to embrace her beginnings & receive the love her fans have for that song. She's clearly having as much fun as the audience!
This song affected her just like candy. It was a rush at first, but after so much, it made her sick. But give it a little while, she come back for more and never did it taste so sweet.
I saw her in June in Toronto Ontario, she was so amazing. Sang a song from A walk to remember and it was stunning just like the movie . Her encore songs were Candy and the song she sang in this is us the song from Kate's Wedding. It was such an hour to see her
