lena i couldn’t help thinking that Rapunzel is dubbing her. This is actually the first time I realize that how amazing Rapunzel’s voice is! When I watch the movie I just think that her voice is sweet. But right now when this voice is coming out from an actual person. Woah! I figure out that that is the kind of voice a princess should have!
Mandy’s voice is so intriguing. She has a tiny, almost unnoticeable lisp that brings such a charm/sincerity to the character. I love it! Perfect for Rapunzel!
Nah sounds like young stalin who is also a roberer they also look a like in their faces!! If you don't know who is stalin is. he is the most ruthless dictator of 19th century who lead and oppresed the soviet union for decades.
@@inessa5923 Keith David has a phenomenal voice but I think that song lacks the same sense of whimsy as the other two. I catch myself enjoyably humming "poor.." and "mother... " and even "painting the roses red" but I don't think I've ever hummed "friends..." But that's just my opinion. You should reply with your own ranking of songs. When Mandy Moore speaks, it’s pitch perfect and music anyways. And i think it was mentioned in ‘this is us’ by her daughter once. And it’s so true. Some people just have those voices where it just flows out melodically
When she sings it doesn’t even sound like anything like wtfff it’s like not even real voice idk damnnnn it doesn’t look like it’s coming out of her mouth She’s so talented
To be honest, when you reminded me that the kingdom was called the Corona, the first thing that came to mind wasn’t the virus, but rather the beer company!
I really love the...breathiness? excitement?? that Mandy brings to Rapunzel in the movie. She literally sounds like a ray (drop?) of sunshine. You can FEEL how everything is amazing and overwhelming and exciting just by her voice, what a perfect cast for this role. I honestly feel like its a detail that was somewhat missed in the tv series, she sounds a lot more serious and doesnt have many of those spazzy moments she had in the movie. Like, even when shes serious or upset, her voice gets higher pitched or low and breathy, its such a cool inflection choice. in the movie, her moments of strength were genuine- she wasnt a girlboss for the sake of a girlboss, and she touched people's hearts by her personality as much as by the action scenes. Idk, I think the voice choices Mandy went for the series works perfectly for the story they were trying to tell, but I really miss her movie voice- and her movie personality. the TV series had that "gotta be a Strong Female Character for Little Girls" thing going on, which in most studions means badassery or something. the magic hair cant just HEAL anymore, thats lame and not badass enough! it needs to be multipurpose and indestructible and etc etc. Same with Eugene really, he sounded a lot more serious (and surprisingly more sarcastic and snippy) in the movie. the TV series dumbs him down to comic relief a LOT, and it makes me sad to see people say he's a moron or a dumbass but he's loveable so we love him. Dude was super street smart, only looked out for himself (and really wanted to just be "tanned and rested and alone" with a ton of money, very much a loner), and was kinda selfish, really not above abandoning his two partners to prison and perhaps death sooo. Most of his comedy came from exaggerated reactions in the movie, like when the tree fell down with him and Maximus or when Rapunzel healed his hand. But his voice is slightly higher pitched and a bit more peppy in the tv series. I see why they did it, because they had Cassandra now as the stoic one to balance Rapunzel's personality (a role which was previously Eugene's), so I guess it works, and I absolutely love Cass, but boy do I wish Rapunzel and Eugene's characterizarions hadnt suffered for it. btw, The voice change is especially evident when you compare their og movie lines to the far more recent voice roles in Corona's world in Kingdom Hearts, a few lines and scenes are pretty similar but aside from the scene in the tower when Eugene is down you can see how LOUD and peppy he in particular sounds, he spoke a lot smoother and in more sarcastic tones in the movie- which is why the comedy worked, you wouldnt expect that smooth thief to act so exaggerated and do high pitched little squeals, heh. Mandy actually did capture some of that excitement and breathiness of Rapunzel which was super neat and nostalgic! idk, its something my brain could never NOT notice y'know? This movie is one of my all time animated favorite movies (it shares the top spot with httyd 1), and after the 100th viewing you can basically quote it as you go, including inflections. It makes those changes especially obvious to me. [[[EDIT Sept/2021: APPARENTLY NOT MANDY (which I had discovered since but couldnt find this post to edit it) but the differing voice direction still stands! Especially when you notice tv voice direction (Eugene) vs a VA who actually studied the movie only (Rapunzel)
@@pattyhansen7563 I love the tv series too!! I kinda separate both as alternate universes, but I LOVE some of the character arcs they go through, and the new additions to the story (people like Cass and Varian and Lance, I even love the idea of Stalyan, how they developed the Captain of the royal guard, Eugene struggling to fit in, Angry and Red, the concept of the moonstone as something opposite to the sundrop) are top tier content. I have some issues with a few choices (rapunzel & eugene characterization thing, too much magic for a movie in which magic was very subtle! also the way they did Frederick dirty in the series hurts my soul he was such a sad, broken bean and they had to turn him into the Overprotective Disney Sequel Dad(tm) OTL), but overall my opinion of the series is quite positive! I'm still so happy we got it, I thought I'd never get new tangled content! Even if I hated the series, I'd still be insanely thankful at least for the songs. God the songs are SO GOOD.
@@akiriith yes! I agree with all these points. the character arcs are EVERYTHING especially Varian's. Although it was technically meant to be a show for kids, I think they could've included a bit more of a detailed arc for varian. He went through a LOT, and i feel like they could have gone deeper into his thoughts of not belonging and ptsd from when his dad was encased in the amber. I'm going off on a tangent here lol. if you couldn't tell, varian is my favorite character haha. and yes, I absolutely LOVE the songs in that show. the actors they picked to play the characters are AMAZING choices, especially Jeremy Jordan for varian. Jeremy brings such life and emotion to Varian's character.
@@pattyhansen7563 oh yea I agree! when I met him in s1 I was certain he would eventually become a main character, and I was disappointed that he got sort of shafted. I really wish HE had been the one with an innate connection to the moonstone (which perhaps would make Cassandra forcefully taking it lead to some development between her and Varian as friends), or to the dark kingdom since its hard to explain why but giving that to Eugene felt like it cheapened his story a bit imo. Also ofc, the songs he does sing in are bangers lmao. I thought it'd be hard to top ready as I'll ever be but the duet with Cass was 👌👌
@@akiriith YES his songs are FIRE. He definitely had great potential but the team (the show creator team i mean) i feel like totally overlooked it. he was/is a crowd favorite for sure and disney was stupid for not giving him his own spin-off show.
Her voice is unreal. I can see and hear it actually coming from her but it still sounds like it was made up. She is ridiculously well crafted for the role of a Disney princess.
Is it bad that I have the entire movie memorized so much so that I can tell exactly which lines they used and didn't and remember the exact inflections and tones she used 😂
high school musical was awfully auto tuned though. it makes me mad when disney chooses actors solely based on how attractive they are. it is a movie about a musical, so you’d think they’d choose people who could actually sing. zac didn’t even sing in the first movie.
Because you have no connection to the characters. In acting you are moving, and seeing other people move…set pieces and clothing. In voice acting you have to sit infront of a microphone in a room of people and just figure it out.
Voice actors need more credit, they get NOTHING to work with not even another actor to bounce off usually and I feel like we assume it's easier because they're 'just doing a voice' and not acting out a whole scene. This is incredible how emotive she is and it's all through her voice!!
Plus most standard acting utilizes the body to convey emotion but voice actors have to figure out how to convey strong emotion as well as motion with their voice
Natali654 They're both great in their own right. I do not understand the internet's fixation with one thing having to be better than another. It's like coexistence is a taboo when it comes to internet debates.
It’s them getting into character, with the movements it helps it sound more natural and when played with the film animations it make the character’s voice sound like their own and like it’s the actual character’s voice and not a moving picture with someone talking. That’s why when most people watch these videos, there are tons of comments about how the voices “ look” or “feels” fake when you see the actual voice actor reading the lines
I read somewhere that this is the reason they record the actors, sometimes they animate the actors face expressions and movements onto the character and it also helps the actor get more into their character :)
Mandy and Zachary's voices honestly were one of the things that stood out to me most in this movie. They were both perfectly cast, and I could only dream of being able to sing as well as either of them. Their duet is pure gold!
Oh my gosh, I always felt that part was so good and I it was just me. Parts like that in a song just changes things and I could never sing that line the same way she does, its beautiful...😄
mandy moore as rapunzel is still one of my favourite disney castings ever, she has such a beautiful, fairy tale voice AND she’s engaging and funny during the speaking parts. SO good 😭
Blxrryroses YES YES!! I literally just watch tangled like an hour ago and I liked it a lot! I watched frozen I THINK the day before yesterday.. I thought frozen was funnier like Olaf made me smile inside XD But tangled I think did way better at the sad part and ending since when they all hugged and I saw the dad it made me cry a little :’) and when Eugene got stabbed I felt it ;;. Frozen’s sad moment didn’t sink in enough for me and really needed a reprise or a sad line like “yes I wanna build a snowman..” but seriously why are people comparing the two?! You can like one more than the other, but they are VERY different. But they are both princess movies.. I think you can only compare similar feature from both not the whole bc their different of course ;;;;;
sujoymusic build a small voiceover studio at home and get to practicing! That's what I did. I can do work as good as any studio (though my voice unfortunately isn't as good as professional voice actors, but I keep practicing) with my equipment. Having the right setup helps to learn, build up confidence and build talent. And you don't need to spend much.
4:50 I *love* the way she says “is new” - it just has such a charming, throaty feel to it. It’s unconventionally beautiful, really. Mandy Moore is the perfect Rapunzel. And Mother Gothel’s VA is PERFECT. Literally the irl human version of her. Iconic !!!
This is by far my favorite animated movie , my son and i used to watch this and sing the songs out loud over and over , he was 10 when he passed away from T1D and every time i see this movie i hear he and i singing these songs together
Even though we didn’t get a tangled 2, we got the animated cartoon and I’m glad they used Mandy again because I can’t imagine anyone else playing this character
Kassandra Vasquez id prefer a tangled 2 bcs if I ever watched the show I’d probably get called a child and I tried to watch it but I didn’t like it lol
This was before voice actors starting getting recognition. Mandy is known but I don't recall everyone making as big a deal of tangled as they do about frozen now.
Ally Jay Well the voice actors of Frozen were already very famous. Indina Menzel is an extremely famous broadway legend and Kristen Bell is also a quite famous popular Hollywood star. Frozen is by no means one of the things either of them is the most famous for. But I think I’m general still voice actors who were already famous get a lot of recognition from voice acting. But you almost never become super famous from only being a voice actor
@@posiemae525 you must be very young if you think Mandy Moore wasn’t already famous before tangled ahhaa She’s been a household name since 2000. But Kristen Bell wasn’t a household name before frozen ❤️
Right?? I was so weirded out seeing this video bc I feel like I’ve seen NOTHING on Mandy Moore since tangled was released. With frozen the voice actors are praised as mush as their characters
zachary’s voice on “bright” literally gives me chills every time like these harmonies are amazing and their voices just blend so well together like WOW
