Great cases, saw them at The Photography Show 2019 and I really want an Air-55.... However, PLEASE DO NOT rely on the TSA lock because they are ridiculously easy to pick and possibly one of the most insecure locks out there.
The only problem I have with the soft Manfrotto bag is the compartments on the inside of the lid! I personally would prefer that the zips opened towards the inside of the bag, because if you forget to close the zip the contents would slip or empty into the Camera case, not over the ground if you see what I mean. I usual work with the bag open so I can dip in and out of the bag/case.
Hey Karl On the promotional video you've made for the air 55 bag, May I ask what light you used to light the side of the bag at minute 2:16 plz? was it a flooter with a fresnel lens??
Yes I'm using the Air 55 as my main bag and so are the video guys, having the wheels and handle is good. But I'm sticking with the Peli cases until Manfrotto come up with complete foam inserts for their hard cases for check-in baggage.
Karl Taylor I definitely see the advantage as these have the trolly wheels which makes it easy to travel in cities and airports! However I have to say that I’ll stick with the backpacks (flipside 400, vortex 200 and vortex 300 for my photography. Usually macro, animal & landscape documentary where I travel by car and then have to walk into the landscape through rough terrain. Also I have to say that I bought the vertex 300 specifically after seeing your review like a year ago - had no problems on planes in India (Fx body, 24-70 2.8, 70-200 2.8, 200-500 5.6, Speedlight, pocketwizard tt1/tt5 ) 👍🏻
I know right? It's far better to buy a normal luggage case and make your own dividers. Too lazy? Get a set from China. Can't wait for shipping? Buy them from f-stop. Cheaper, lighter, better. Anything with photography in the name is at least 3 times more expensive.
