I saw them years ago at the Warehouse in Toronto and I remember during the drum outro Nicky was jumping rope. I thought it was one of the funniest and coolest things I’ve ever seen someone do on stage. He reminds me of Noel Fielding.
OMG I can't believe I've never seen this video before - I was there at the 'Manic Millennium' gig at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on that night! The best way to see in the millennium and they were brilliant, even though my overwhelming memory was that it was flipping FREEZING and we were all there for hours in our little black dresses & feather boas! I also have a vague memory of eating an "alf & 'alf with curry sauce in the infamous Chip Alley afterwards having had way too many bottles of WKD Blue at the gig, then stumbling back home to my student digs having lost my shoes somehow! Ahhh...memories of a fab night as a 25 year old!
I was there too, don’t remember it being cold at all. My memory is simply of being stupendously ill as I had flu over the xmas and was totally bedridden for days and had literally just barely recovered enough to walk around and go to the gig, travelling all the way to Cardiff from the North East of England. Was stood way back leaning against one of the pillars feeling horrible but was determined to go if I was physically capable. Weird to think I was 23 at the time and so people not even born at the time of the gig are now the same age I was then. Seems like 5 minutes ago
Libraries gave us power Then work came and made us free What price now for a shallow piece of dignity I wish I had a bottle Right here in my dirty face to wear the scars To show from where I came We don't talk about love we only want to get drunk And we are not allowed to spend As we are told that this is the end A design for life A design for life A design for life A design for life I wish I had a bottle Right here in my pretty face to wear the scars To show from where I came We don't talk about love we only want to get drunk And we are not allowed to spend As we…
Christ, such an inventive and rocking group. It's just frustrating to see these new Tik Tok artists getting 50 million views for stuff noone will remember, while this gets 1/100th the views. I luv u Wales and Great Britain, from a Yank.
One of the greatest bands of all time. Some write the lyrics, some have the song ideas, some do the fashion ,some become guitar gods........ AND SOME PLAY THE DRUMS
I've seen them ten times and funnily, this was the last time I ever went to see them.. Saw three gigs with Richey in the band and I gave up seeing them in the end knowing they'd never be as good as the early days. That's just my opinion though. I preferred the early Manics. A lot like this era though. They were massively popular at this stage.
Noel Gallagher wrote 'Live Forever', 'The Masterplan', 'Slide Away', 'Whatever' and 'Champagne Supernova' before he'd made a penny with his own music. I think he'll be happy enough. I think the Manics were awesome btw. 'Patsy' and 'Let Robeson Sing' are CRIMINALLY underrated.
The director of MASH let his son write the lyrics of the song because he was immature, the dad was paid 30 grand for the film his 15 year old son made millions
