Then he tried to get hired by the Philadelphia Daily News thinking it would not follow him and it did and they denied him he tried to get a job on the Philadelphia Eagles beat !!!!!
@Vincent Cuttolo There is a difference between using an anonymous source and letting someone try to manipulate things from the shadow. Without getting collaborating sources an anonymous source is worthless. Mehta never does this, his writing is shallow and manipulative. How about you look into the ethics of reporting and develop an understanding of the cost of using anonymous sources?
As a big time Jets fan as from "82". The greatest coaching impact that paid immediate dividends was hiring a Super Bowl winning coach with a long winning history. That was obviously Bill Parcels who is now in the Hall of Fame. We never had opportunities to hire any good coaches because of bad timing and lack of availability. For the 1st time in our history we have the closest caliber coach equivalence in Mike McCarthy who only wants to coach for us and we pass on him for another coach with a losing record and with absolutely no history of winning anything. This team has been plagued with owners who don't care about winning and a administration which is a completely inept.
Dan Acevedo facts. Professional sports team owners don’t understand the sports that they own teams in. They are no different from most fans. Even fans who go to games don’t understand the mechanics of the sport, and owners certainly don’t. That’s why they hire “football/baseball/basketball/hockey people” who can evaluate talent and hire the right people to coach that talent. But like anything else in life, it’s mostly based on politics and not merit. Owners like what they hear and go with it. Choice was simple. Adam Gase or Mike McCarthy. If anyone, especially an owner who would rather part with a coach than a superstar QB, has an axe to grind, then they will badmouth a guy and politics says, he gets a bad name. Happens in every sport. It starts and ends with the owner. Just look at my NY Giants 😞
Mehta came out with an article the day before the Jets picked Gase praising him through the roof. He’s definitely a spokesperson for the team. Probably gets a free hot dog at the games just like the guy at the Post who never criticizes James Dolan after 20+ years of ineptitude.
Got to love how he thinks a coach matters but rips Phil Jackson for coaching Jordan Pippen Shaq Bryant and they were for his success but now a coach is the sole reason for Jets success..... I love his passion but he is all over the place
@@CRS099 I’ve heard stories about him bullying fans in the stadium. Fight with the ineptitude of the Jets organization like Joe does instead of starting altercations with fellow fans.
its been a while since I heard these two... LOL they have a simulcast now?? Congrats.. these guys are entertaining as hell. Loving their loyalty as a mets and jets fan
Even though he ultimately turned out to be right about Gase, Joe completely missed Manish's point at 7:44. Manish's point was that McCarthy winning a SB in 2010 is not necessarily an indicator that he will win another one for the Jets in the 2020's. What the hell does Vince Lombardi's success have to do with anything? Yes Joe, Vince's success in the 1960's would not necessarily make him a good hire for the Jets in 2019. There are a couple of limiting factors, one of them being that he's six feet under.
@@ethad123 ur crazy McCarthy completely reworked Rodgers throwing motion and foot work and that is exactly what Darnold needs now he's young and still needs to work on his mechanics to meet his potential not to cloud his mind with a system he's not ready to run and an offensive line that struggled horrible to run zone blocking schemes which Gase runs too it's gonna take 2 drafts and luck in free agency which is not gonna happen player hate Gase for a reason
with all the drama the last few days i wanted to visit the past. seeing ev here with joe, its crazy and amazing at the same time, the station has changed so much since then. Remember this exact episode fresh into junior year of college.
Wow only you guys can make Mehta sound like he knows what he’s talking about. Manish is absolutely right about McCarthy, Rodgers carried the Packers for the past 3 years. Every single packers game I watch is Arron Rodgers is making a last minute Hail Mary to win the game. Not a Adam Gase fan only because he doesn’t get along with players & with 100mill in cap space doesn’t matter if no one wants to play for the guy.
I Identify with Joe, we are similar age. I kind of lost contact with the Jets a little bit in the 70s due to being in the military but still a long suffering Jets fan and I absolutely feel that pain of being a Jets fan for so long. I still remember watching a preseason game when Namath threw an interception and in trying to tackle the guy injured his knee. Seems like the Jets have had more than their fair share of bad luck and incompetence
A lot has changed since this interview... Reid won a SB, McVay went to a SB, Gase proved J&E right, McCarthy proved Manish right. Of course, that's the least of Metha's concerns these days...
Even now several days after I can't understand how the Jets came to this decision, what boxes doesn't McCarthy check off, Gase is getting credit for working with QB's that already were developed, where was the young QB that he developed where is the experience of Winning that this organization Desperately needed right now with over 90Million to spend and potentially a franchise Qb, this important period deserved Mike McCarthy not Gase
Mike McCarthy is a great coach and the blundering Jets wealthy owners--Christopher Johnson and his brother--passed on a great opportunity. Instead they picked more of the same and so it goes.
Gase is Little Finger 2.0 from Game of Thrones. The only time you will see Gase's eyes is during is presser / introduction. Have fun watching Gase sitting on the bench when the Defense takes the field. DROVE ME NUTS! Hey perhaps Gase evolves. See you next year Jets. Not a hater here this is how I felt watching dude self implode and dividing our locker room. # Any given Sunday.
As a long time Packer fan I can say McCarthy is an excellent coach. Giving Rodgers all the credit is wrong. The whole time MM was there, our GM had free agent-phobia. He had to coach rookies and 2-3 year players every year and still had them in the playoffs most of the time and a Superbowl. He's a great coach. The only knock being he can get conservative in the 4th quarter with a lead and the offense can be a little vanilla sometimes. So yeah, he had one of the greatest QB's we've seen but he also had one of the youngest and most inexperienced teams every year. The guy can coach. The Jets should dump Gase and get him now because someone else will next year for sure.
To be fair, it’s to this day considered one of the most baffling draft day falls of all time. There was zero linking between GB and Rodgers pre draft. It’s borderline inexplicable why he was still on the board when GB was on the clock. People point to the attitude but even that doesn’t really completely add up. It honestly felt like teams that didn’t do their homework on him because they didn’t think he’d be there so they kept passing.
Manish: "Didn't Don Shula win more games than anybody?" Joe: "What does that mean, he didn't win a Superbowl with Marino?" Joe is crazy if he thinks being the all-time winningest coach in NFL history "means nothing". He won 2 with Bob Griese another HOF QB he coached.
Typical New Yorkers. They pepper you with pushy endless haranguing questions demanding an explanation then when yuh begin to address them they interrupt you and never let you get in a word edgewise.
The problem with Joe's "the guy's won a Super Bowl!!!!!" point is that he himself has argued the reverse point when it comes to Bill Parcells. Parcells won two Super Bowls with the Giants, but Joe would never even remotely call Parcells tenure with the Jets a success.
Eight months later, the Jets lose two of their first regular season games in embarrassing fashion. They are heading towards 0-6 and the bottom of the league. I wonder what excuses Mehta will offer now.
Remember the backlash against Doug Peterson on the Eagles when they first hired him? 3 year's later a Superbowl and beat a Bear's team with tons of injuries the Eagles have. Noone knows nothing, it's all just hot air coming from people who don't know ishhhh.
Joe and Evan are being too hard on gase. Let’s just be happy they got an offensive minded coach for once. Give the guy a chance , he’s got 16 years nfl experience Much rather him than some college coach
That's the problem with these 2 assholes-they bash everybody before they've had a chance because they (especially that miserable old fuck Benigo) think it's cool and thrive on being negative Nancies.
Dame haha hey. Sometimes you’re right , sometimes you’re wrong. Gase and darnold prob aren’t as bad as they seem Though, they have no offensive tallent
