First comment I've ever made on RU-vid. Been watching you guys for a while now, and I have to say that you guys have some of the best, most thoughtful and well-produced content I've ever seen on RU-vid. Better every video too! It's just so real, educational, entertaining, and the passion behind the content is so tangible! You guys always do such a good job of highlighting the real ups and downs of exploring and experiencing the wilderness. As a fellow filmmaker, man o' man can I relate to the feeling of loss when a piece of equipment bites the dust. I've killed more than one camera during my time on the job, and it's never a good feeling. Life isn't always rainbows and sunshine, and I appreciate you guys sharing with us both sides of your adventures. the good...and the bad, and, in this case--the wet! Kudos on your success so far--keep up the astounding work! Can't wait to see more! Sincerely, an avid fan and fellow adventurer :)

The foreshadowing at the start with the lightning and thunder was the first clue. That was harrowing guys but so thankful everyone was ok and it was great to see you kept your senses of humor intact. That post hike meal was much needed! Liked hearing Robby's Japanese, had me nostalgic for his Japan Vlogs (check out Robby's Channel) and that was some mad juggling too! :)

This is my new relaxing and educational program while enjoying some tea sessions - I really hope you guys will gain more subscribers soon because you really deserve it. I love your "more than 1 hour" hiking videos. They are never boring even for that length and they are so peaceful, enjoyable and educational. It is amazing what you do. Please keep that concept going - Love it! I am drinking some Pu-erh & continue watching ~ Cheers from Vienna!

I have a Linden tree in my front yard. Those little seed balls fall all over my garden, walk way, driveway and cars and are a major pain in the ass. The best part about that tree is that it attracts aphids in droves, which in turn release tons of honeydew, which also ends up all over our cars, attracting other bugs which attracts spiders. On a positive note, your videos are very well done and have inspired me to continue collecting proper backpacking gear to go backcountry camping. Great work guys!

I really, really enjoyed watching this adventure in particular. I think maybe it was Andrew who said, while the lightening was all around and you had to move camp - it isn't the best situation, but it does bring a sense of excitement and "aliveness" that can't be matched in many other ways. Nice work, I am blown away by every video.

I know this video is old, but I just got around to being able to watch it. I love the fact that you can mostly keep a sense of humor throughout the experience. Rain is going to happen, so will capsizing canoes, been there more than once. It's life and it's perfect. I recently spent the night camping with my brother, in the pouring rain, set up the tarp, put on our favorite youtube channel and enjoyed the rain for about 12 hours. Makes everything else we take for granted worth it. Obviously I prefer the nice weather, but it's not always going to be that way.

As someone who has canoed that river and just a lot in general, canoeing class helps a ton. It's something I'm glad I did. Also, a ridge line down the middle of your tarp and then staking four corners keeps the water from pooling. Easy to say when your sitting in a nice comfy chair watching the video. Also Robby, Google trigger discipline. Great work as always guys!

What a trip! Glad to know you made it and nobody was hurt. Equipment can (and will be) replaced. You guys know I LOVE your videos and this channel. But the video need an intro. A good story always needs a set-up. Give us a couple minutes of set-up. All adventures begin in the driveway or trailhead. I know that might be boring to you or feel like you always do that. But the viewer needs it, especially new viewers. In those couple minutes traveling to trailhead or staged planning of the trip, tell us a few things so we’re not lost. Where are you going? Why are you going there? What are your goals for the trip? What are the challenges? (Like did you know the forecast before you went?) A couple a minutes to set up the story would go a long way for the viewer. With this episode, (and a few others lately) I’ve felt like I was dropped into the middle of the story without any lead-up. It’s a little uncomfortable and I stayed confused for several minutes until the intro played. Otherwise, great video! You guys are the best! Andrew? Why aren’t you studying to be a naturalist? Or field biologist?

Nice video, interesting to see you cope with the weather :) About canoeing: You want to put everything (!) into waterproof bags, that are tied to your canoe or if they break lose will float if you capsize. I hike a lot in rainy Norway and use those packs anyway inside my backpack. I found this to be the only method to keep my stuff really dry. You can literally soak your backpack under water and still have everything dry - worth the extra grams for those waterproof bags.
@MoniqueDiCarlo

Just catching this now as I discovered your channel only recently...you have quickly become one of my favorite backpacking subscribes!!! I feel your pain w this one! Having dumped my own canoe more than once, I couldn’t help but laugh...sympathetically in heartfelt empathy...because it triggered that “Oh Crap!” moment of recalled shock and horror. (Why do we blurt out w uncontrolled laughter when someone we love stubs their toe???) Sometimes you just get one of those trips where everything that can go wrong...does. Believe me, I’ve drug myself back in through the door looking like a bedraggled drowned rat more times than I care to remember. Our moment of triumph comes when we step back out the following week for more. Dealing w adversity is a life lesson I’ve honed thru backpacking that serves me well every. single. day. And I wouldn’t trade one dunking, one frozen feet night, one ridgeline hail storm, one 60 mph blizzard above treeline for any amount of money in the world. Thanks for all your hard work w these films. You deserve much respect and admiration! ❤️

I love that you still enjoy play. When we go camping, we are all just building a treehouse, or a fort, and the more it rains, and the harder it is to keep your fire alight, the more you're trying to please your dad or that uncle that actually does stuff, or that part of you that will be that uncle or dad to the next generation. When we stop trying to face mild adversity, we stop trying in general. Anyway. I've said it before, and I'll say it again... I love your work, keep it coming. 120ThingsIn20Years/BullwinkleII/Craig

Adventure archives keep up the great work your videos and content are awesome. I'm subscribed and I've watched most of your hour long videos till the end. They show that there is so much in the outdoors to explore and that we should preserve these environments. 🍏🌳🍀

Glad you guys are all safe and I feel your pain about the loss of gear! It still looks like an amazing trip even with the river catastrophe and as always, you did a fantastic job filming it. Thanks for continued hard work and I wish you guys better fortune on the next trip!

My first backpacking trip was along the Manistee river while I was in Boy Scouts. I’ve gone on to hike and camp a lot of other more amazing places that I never would have because of that experience. This brings back a lot of great memories. Thanks guys!

Hiked this same trail 3 years ago with some friends early summer and ran into a ton of rain. It’s giving me some flashbacks, this place is so beautiful on camera but it does not do it justice to being there. I want to go back!

Another excellent AA episode despite this being a wet weather trip and canoe flip. 😬 Great job filming the storm clouds! 👍The Manistee River is a beautiful area! 😀

Great job guys. When you were pealing the mushroom I was thinking about shelling peas with my grandmother. Also, you might want to tell Thomas he should be careful about his mic placement while reclining in the canoe. You might get a PG rating from RU-vid for that. I was nearly drowned in a rafting accident years ago. Long before required life vests. Didn’t seem so bad then but looking back I was lucky. Easy to get caught on a stick and something bad happen. You guys handled it very well! Hope the equipment was insured but if not no big deal. You are all ok and that’s what matters. AND FOR ALL YOU VIEWERS recommend these guys! They deserve more followers for the quality work that they do! It’s great content. Just recommend to your Facebook friends. It’s easy. Off my soapbox.... Also, wish you would come to the Cohutta Wilderness Area in the north Georgia mountains. Beautiful and largest wilderness area east of the Mississippi River.
