Starrcade 97: The night WCW Bungled their biggest ppv ever
@volodymyrbilyk555
@volodymyrbilyk555 3 года назад
WCW usually bungled Starrcade main events. Sting v black scorpion anyone? Fucking battle bowl two years in the row. See also starrcade 94 with no Vader v hogan, or that whole mess of 95 or when piper pinned hogan to get a title match on the next ppv in 96. If you think about it, the only time WCW pulled off all-time great main event of starrcade is flair v Vader in 93.

@@volodymyrbilyk555 true, but with Starcade 97 being their biggest PPV ever it just felt like even more of a missed opportunity. The NWO vs Sting fued was the hottest Kayfabe storyline in wrestling and Bret was the hottest wrestler. How did it all go so wrong lol

I love your channel and podcast but I will agree, that pop when stone cold came out was amazing but I think the biggest pop or a 1b to 1a to this one was wrestlemania x-seven when Austin came out, glass shatter and the disturbed version comes on. The original glass shatter is classic but the disturbed version intensifies that song by 100 but I will agree, I was one that switched over once I heard to watch that match. Mankind deserved that belt so much. He worked his ass off to get to that moment, just wish they gave him one long wrong. Anyways, love your work and keep it going!

Maybe, just maybe, the day the Attitude Era died was NOT when Stone Cold made a deal with the devil, and was instead the day they started letting Michael Cole be the lead play-by-play guy on national television. I know something inside ME died that day

Like wcw had the year wrapped up in their finger all they literally had to do was let sting come into StarCade from the rafters and have I say about a 10 min match and then beat hogan clean in the middle that would’ve ended the night perfect don’t understand for the life of me on why the fuck Eric felt their needed to be swerve like that shit was so stupid with Bret coming down acting like he was doing something right if anything it made sting look weak and like Bret screwed hogan

Hogan helped wcw then killed it. Notice you see nash lately say on wwe "you can't give a wrestler creative control brother" hogan botched the sting match. No way u sit there & say "i wasn't feeling it" the match should have been sting dominatinh hogan gogan tries to get that cheap fast count that then blows over when bret comes out sting beats hogan. Opening the 4 year wait of hogan vs bret stemming from 1993 hogan not wanting to put bret over. The hogan vs bret feud did not need a title. The next night on nitro bret strsight said hogan has been runnimg away from himfot yeats now he can't hide no more ALL FOR BRET TO TURN HEEL. man. Hogan. This is unpopular opinion but i viuched for russo getting him off if tv for good after bash at the beach.
