Solomonster Reacts To Lex Luger A&E Biography And His Wild Rise And Fall 

Met him at Galaxy Con Raleigh back in 2021. Seeing him in the wheelchair, and his physical condition hurt my heart considering how he looked all those years before, but he wasn't looking for pity. He was in great spirits, and during a wrestling panel with the Steiners, they mentioned how they looked up to him now, and he got so excited, and stood up, and did a little dance. He has made some mistakes in life, but who hasn't. Meeting him was an awesome experience.

I do wonder if the Torture Rack finisher played a big part in Luger’s paralysis. That move has to put a lot of pressure on the neck.

Spot on Solomonster. Vince should have taken time with Lex as a heel and develop into the eventual transition.

So far, when it comes to A&E biography series of WWE, Lex is my favorite. Probably because after all these years I FINALLY get to hear from him after all these years and what he's been up to.

I was in the building that night he won the title. The crowd popped big time when the referee called it. One of the loudest crowd reactions I heard in that building. Ironically the same building he celebrated a count out win over Yokozuna a few years before.

That Torture Rack that he did on that one big guy Road Block was great, dude was so huge he had to try 3 times to get him up, but when he did that crowd loved it

Indeed, when people say Lex Luger was never over, I cringe.. Because when I think back to his days in WCW, when he Racked the world... Then I genuinely wonder, are those people condemning Lex Luger were insane? Dude was definitely over in WCW, with the Loaded Forearm and Torture Rack, as The Total Package.

Lex Luger is one of the most Slept On Wrestlers from the WWF/WCW Era in my opinion ….

It is simply a miracle that Lex Luger is still alive and well after everything he’s been through for the past 20 years.

This was my favorite documentary from the A&E series so far. Luger was extremely over in the 80's & 90's. I hope that Luger gets the HOF induction nod next year, it's long overdue. In addition to seeing some of the referees get inducted, Jim Johnston is another name that is long overdue.

I remember thinking Bill Fralic almost legit got Yokozuna up. You see Yoko kinda hop back then push Bill off of him. My how different times woulda been she Bill Fralic legit bodyslammed Yoko

Dave Hebner and Tim White would be good additions to the HoF. But we can't forget about Jim Johnston. That man contributed to the major stars we grew up with.

I also feel that some of the more prominent jobbers should also be inducted into the Hall Of Fame. Week in and week out, they did their job making the stars look like stars.

They better induct him while he's still alive. Macho man and especially Vader (who literally gave a time table for how long the doc gave him to live) needed to be inducted before death. Luger might not have been as big as those 2 but he deserves to give his own speech.

I just don’t understand why Vince couldn’t just give Bret the push Lex had in 1993. They could portray Bret as this babyface hero from a far away land who is fighting Yokozuna on behalf of the US to avenge Hulk Hogan (Might as well keep up the act from WM IX) who lost his match in KoTR 1993 due to a dirty trick from outside the ring.

Lex Luger was my favorite wrestler.....he was over as hell in the NWA/WCW. It still kills me to see him in his current state.

One thing that always sticks out is Kevin Nash in the first NWO promo. "What do ya bench Lex? Waddya bench?" Freakin hilarious

LMFAO the best part of Lex Luger vs Yokozuna @ Summerslam 1993 was when he celebrated winning the WWF Title Via Count out 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I remember being a kid, watching that bodyslam challenge, and hoping/expecting Hogan to save the day. I felt not so much disappointed as I was confused it was Luger.

RE: The peanut butter cups. That's true, but it only works if you almost completely starve yourself of carbs for a while (IE days) before hand. Then you load up before a shoot. Same thing with water. You slam protein and dehydrate yourself before competition or photo shoots and then go ham just before. It's freaking MISERABLE, but it works.

The Nitro pop was borne from surprise of the outcome, not from love for Luger. That surprise pop could have happened for nearly any babyface on the card. It was Hogan/nWo dominance that made the surprise possible.Luger was merely chosen to be the benefactor.

Again..i love lex luger since i first saw his push in Florida Championship Wrestling as the Southern Heavyweight Champion..This was a very good documentary...But some guys are not made for wwe...Lex was a wcw guy..and you kinda gotta book them like a...wcw guy..

Lex was brought in as a employee of Vince's bodybuilding deal and apparently they weren't steroid testing them.

I didn't think he was stupid with that win over Yokozuna at SummerSlam I just didn't get it. I kept asking friends what was the big deal if he didn't win the title. My friends were all telling me he beat Yokozuna. I Didn't get it lol

Dude wtf are you talking about, Lex was massively over in wwf if only for a short period time prior to SummerSlam 93 but they pulled the plug on his title win made him look like a bowl of piss and killed his momentum completely. Sounds familiar doesn’t it?

Elizabeth made her choices. Luger enabled and maybe even caused her bad choices. His legacy is forever entwined with the death of wrestling's most beloved figure. That legacy is not worthy of a hall of fame. Too much shadow, not enough highlights.

I don’t blame Lex for wanting to go back to WCW. Other than when Ric Flair left the NWA in 1991 that was the only time that I felt like Vince really respected anyone that was a WCW/NWA wrestler. When you look at what they did to Dusty, his son Dustin, you can’t tell me gold dust was just a way to make fun of him, Ron Simmons turned into the worlds first black roaming gladiator? And then when they bought WCW they buried everyone that came over.

WCW really dropped the ball with Lex in 1997. He was SO OVER then and it felt like WCW really did not know how to capitalize on it properly.

That whole Summerslam celebration just made Lex look so stupid. Vince was trying to make Luger the next Hogan. Imagine Hogan beating the Sheik by contour but not winning , then celebrating like he did.

I’m curious what the plan would’ve been if enough people spoke up against the Lex Express Mr USA run. Who would’ve been the choice to take on Yoko or slam him if they pushed that angle? Luger should’ve tried to push yoko in so he didn’t look like a complete idiot. Never understood that celebrating for a count out win/never challenge again.

Chris Benoit is the greatest United States champion in WWE but the overall greatest is Luger. He also got good matches out of Hogan. I was there for his entire career. I guess he's one of my favorite wrestlers. He was equally good as a face as he was a heel.

What Solomonster said about the Marijuana thing is so true. Approximately 40k people are still locked up and serving ling sentences because of weed even though it’s now effectively legal but still Federally classified as a schedule 1 drug.

It’s amazing Lex has turned into a ‘man of god’ but he is still flat out lying about striking Elizabeth to this day.

I think Vince should've stayed the course, and put the belt on Luger at SummerSlam. You could easily put the belt back on Yoko at Survivor Series, or put the belt on Bret at WM.

Jim Cornette said all his scenes were filmed for the ICONS episode that never aired. So this probably wasn’t what ICONS would have been, a lot of it is ICONS filmed stuff. Expecting a Bulldog Biography next season

No one cares if Luger wins or loses, if he stays or goes. People only cared for what Luger cared about: his physique. A physique is not charisma. Luger didn't love wrestling. Wrestling fans don't love Luger. Luger makes deals and he gets the deal and no more. Not fond memories. Not love. A total package that is conspicuously missing some parts.

I cannot forget or forgive what happened with Elizabeth. I know she was a grown woman but she was in his care. I still believe he was over in WCW. After the Narcissist gimick the WWF just did not know what to do with him. I don't hate the guy. I am glad that Sting is still his friend.

To this day I wonder if Luger actually thought he'd won that Summerslam match. Like he just assumed Vince had called an audible and he was the winner. 😅

I remember thinking the same way about Lex that ball his peers thought back in the mid '80s, that he looked like a Million Bucks. I also wondered when Vince would snatch him up, fast forwards to 1992. In my mindset in '93 I didn't have much a problem with Lex turning face (despite it coming out of nowhere with no build), without knowing the behind the scenes shenanigans, the Lex Express did what it was supposed to, get me excited for Summerslam and a new world Champion..then Vince pulls a wet fart. After that, Lex in the WWF was just meh. In retrospect, it was a sad sight to see wwf storytelling get shattered live at the Survivor Series. Lex is in there against Yokozuna for an epic encounter, NO reaction. Undertaker gets tagged in against Yoko...HUGE POP! When Lex returned to WCW, he was fun to watch. Being a heel who teamed with baby face Sting was just an awesome dynamic. What soured me on Lex in WCW wasn't even Lex' s fault, it was the idiotic reliance on the nwo angle. I don't care if it was popular, Lex joining the wolfpac along with Sting was just an insult to WCW. In the last few years I've gained a little more admiration for Lex, thanks in large part to OSW Review, especially when they pointed out Lex's selling "OW" and acknowledging that he was in fact over with the fans during his career.

Vince cry's about everything - RIC FLAIR SHOWED UP ON WWE TV WITH THE BIG GOLD BELT. VINCE TOOK MANY STARS AWAY FROM OTHER TERRITORIES. WHATEVER VINCE HAS HAD DONE TO HIM - VINCE HAS DONE TO OTHER PEOPLE.
