Marshal of Finland Gustav Mannerheim
Focke-Wulf Fw 200 Condor visiting Finland during WW2 (Mannerheimin 75-vuotisjuhlat. Adolf Hitler vierailee Mannerheimin luona. Kentälle laskeutuu Focke-Wulf Fw 200 Condor (useampia). Kentällä vastassa on Risto Ryti. Siirrytään Merzedes-autossa Mannerheimin junavaunulle, jossa on joukko suomalaisia huippu-upseereja. Joukossa mm. eversti Adlara Paasonen, kenraaliluutnantti A.F. Airo sekä muita Marskin pöydän ("paprikaklubi") jäseniä. Käydystä keskustelusta on tallenne, josta on katkelma toisessa videossa.
Mercedes-Benz 770:
The Mercedes-Benz 770, also known as the Großer Mercedes (large Mercedes) was a luxury car built by Mercedes-Benz from 1930 to 1943. It is probably best known from archival footage of high-ranking Nazi officials before and during World War II, including Adolf Hitler and Hermann Göring.
The 770K originally owned by Marshal of Finland Gustav Mannerheim was sold to an American collector after World War II. It was featured in the motion picture The Desert Fox: The Story of Rommel as Hitler's parade car.

Mannerhiem was a brave military genius who would have rescued the Tsar and marched on communist Russia in 1918 if he had been allowed. His life & travels are so interesting a Hollywood film should be made about him.

I have heard that Mannerheim was not so pleased hearing that Hitler was coming to visit personally for the situation was already very provocative, but yet again there was not much choice to decline so they remain good hosts in the sake of fatherland Finland and for its future.

There are several references in these comments to the remarkable snippet of film showing the aircraft's tire/brake lining on fire as it taxis to a halt on the tarmac, plus the scurrying of soliders/aides to extinguish it. But consider the implications to the war and world history if that fire had occurred on takeoff, allowing the flames to smolder undetected for a period of time when the FW Condor was in the air.

There is one more thing about this visit: after the recording of a short official statement, a technician of Finnish YLE secretly kept recording the talk between H***** and Mannerheim and created a very rare document of H***** speaking in a normal voice rather than his usual yelling like in his speeches - talking about bigger than expected difficulties at the Eastern front. A German officer noticed the recording and wanted to kick up fuss but couldn't do anything about it as it was all on Finnish soil and the Germans had basically come to keep the Finns sweet. So this reel survived in some YLE Archive until it was unearthed a few years ago.

If im right, YLE (yleisradio) owns the rights to these movies. its a state owned media company, they shot most of the ww2 footage out there from Finland. not sure if they own this specifically but thats where i would look for. yeah sry im 2 years late :D probably doesnt even matter but hope it helps anyways.

Esim tasoristeys jossa hitler nousee mersun kyydistä, on nykyisten tehtaan hakekasojen paikalla. I love the propaganda of those people who want to claim that Mannerheim was disdainful of Adolf Hitler etc. If Hitler had won the war then the claim would be that Mannerheim admired Hitler and that they were close friends and allies. I had a friend who fought in the continuation war and he had a school friend who at first fought with the Germans against the invading USSR and then died fighting the Germans who were withdrawing from Finland when Finland left the war, trying to save Finland from the USSR. Propaganda never takes account of the complications of war. Mannerheim accepted Hitler as an ally but did not agree with all of the German policies just Churchill accepted Stalin as an ally but did not support all of his policies either.

@@Alexandros.Mograine 327 Finnish Jews fought for Finland during the war, of which were 242 rank-and-file soldiers, 52 non-commissioned officers, 18 officers and 15 medical officers. Additionally, 21 Jews served in the women's auxiliary Lotta Svärd. 15 Finnish Jews were killed in action in the Winter War and eight in the Continuation War. "As Finland's forces had substantial numbers of German forces supporting their operations, the Finnish front had a field synagogue operating in the presence of Nazi troops." Jewish soldiers were granted leave on Saturdays and Jewish holidays. Finnish Jewish soldiers later participated in the Lapland War against Germany. In November 1942, eight Jewish Austrian refugees (along with 19 other deportees) were deported to Nazi Germany after the head of the Finnish police agreed to turn them over. Seven of the Jews were murdered immediately. According to author Martin Gilbert, these eight were Georg Kollman; Frans Olof Kollman; Frans Kollman's mother; Hans Eduard Szubilski; Henrich Huppert; Kurt Huppert; Hans Robert Martin Korn, who had been a volunteer in the Winter War; and an unknown individual. When Finnish media reported the news, it caused a national scandal, and ministers resigned in protest. After protests by Lutheran ministers, the Archbishop, and the Social Democratic Party, no more foreign Jewish refugees were deported from Finland. Approximately 500 Jewish refugees arrived in Finland during World War II, although about 350 moved on to other countries, including about 160 who were transferred to neutral Sweden to save their lives on the direct orders of Marshal Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim, the commander of the Finnish Army. About 40 of the remaining Jewish refugees were sent to do compulsory labor service in Salla in Lapland in March 1942. The refugees were moved to Kemijärvi in June and eventually to Suursaari Island in the Gulf of Finland. Although Heinrich Himmler twice visited Finland to try to persuade the authorities to hand over the Jewish population, he was unsuccessful.
