Today, we're continuing a multi-video journey on which we will be building historically accurate and authentic city designs in Manor lords, a highly anticipated city-building game! I will explain how the game works as I play and explain some historical details as we go!

Manor Lords is a strategy game that allows you to experience the life of a medieval lord. Grow your starting village into a bustling city, manage resources and production chains, and expand your lands through conquest.
Inspired by the art and architecture of late 14th century Franconia, Manor Lords prioritizes historical accuracy wherever possible, using it to inform gameplay mechanics and visuals alike. Common medieval tropes are avoided in favor of historical accuracy, in order to make the world feel more authentic, colorful, and believable.

Waldbrand and Eichenhau are going to be special, EXTREMELY rural regions! What should their names be once we are done?

Waldbrand could be renamed to Fürstenmühl or Altenmühl because of the old broken down windmill that stands at the end of the Kings road so most likely belonged to a King. And for Eichenhau can be something relating to hunting like Hirschenfeld, Rittenjagd or Wildsgang.

Put a donkey post inside the manor near the market of Eichanhau to trade the hides to Sitte for leather. And in Waldbrand to trade the honey for some basic goods so they don't have to produce it themselves. Maybe linen or yarn. Neither of those regions really need a tanning industry with how isolated they are.

You could call Waldbrand Langsamwald for the "slow forest" in reference to the lazy pace of the people who live there.

What I love most about these new regions is the secret trio of fields tucked away in the forest, hidden from prying eyes. What could they possibly be growing there? Didn't know Eichenhau was actually in North California.

Certainly in the British Isles, land which wasn’t suitable for agriculture was historically and is today used for livestock farming, I imagine it was the same in the HRE as well. Perhaps you could set up sheep farms and pastures in Eichenau.

I hope in future updates the devs change the stuff relating to creeks and rivers, needing to build bridges to cross properly, rather than having the clunky current way of a weird clipping terrain where you can build paths across. And things such as maybe a slightly larger river in the map where small boats can move, maybe something like Vanished style but more adapted to the style of Manor Lords.

I love your Manor Lord Videos. I propose you rename the middle Region of Waldbrand to Slirefa. Its a old german name for a village that is now called Bad Salzschlirf. The name simply means zu schürfen. If you mine in this area maybe in future it can became rich through that. The village is also in the woods and in the backwater of a city but near enough to prosper in future like in your game. I think its all so a Straßendorf. I all so live there :D

How about Lüttendorf? For people that aren't OPB, it means "Little village". I used it in my game when i made a secondary teeny tiny village for farming.

Waldbrand will offer anlot of Wood and good Farming grounds. Schlagäcker oder Ackerschlag waren passende Namen. Schlag für die Holzwirtschaft und Acker für die Bauernhöfe.

A city that used to be dominant that fell off dramatically is Passau. It's on 2 major rivers, the Donau and the Inn. It was a somewhat important city in antiquity, but rose to prominence in the early medieval period. It was an important town for the iron industry. Vienna was colonised from Passau. It played a major role in the trade route with Prague. However, due to changing economic conditions in the Holy Roman Empire, it stopped developing after the baroque period. It's now essentially a museum city. Prosperity and competitive advantage don't last forever.

I believe that Waldbrand (which means forest fire) is named after a forest fire that occurred before us and destroyed the village that was built before us, and only the ruins of the windmill and granary remain

Have you ever thought of building dueling towns on either side of a stream? Something that could fuse together in the future, like Budapest.

Seeing as the river is not more than a tiny stream it would just look like the same city/town from the start, unless you place them away from the river, but to me that does not seem like a historical thing that happened that often. (correct me if it did happen more often)

In another playthrough I saw the problem of path finding occurring for the retinue. And that was because a few of them stuck in the manor, so the center of the unit was elsewhere. Maybe it's the case here too.

I think a market by the church looks okay. Though the church is a bit further away from many of the houses and its supposed to be a constant place people go to, sadly the game doesnt have seasonal markets which would make sense.

Feels like maybe they don't really have a name yet until later they grow and get some name with a -rüti or -reuth or similar Additional sufixes I remember are ried rain wangen egg wil Oh maybe how about Forstwil How about putting some of the bees next to the church

they are going to have to work on those character models. looks terrible. almost like something from the xbox 1 era. looks almost like morrowind levels of bad.
