Manual Gain on Night Vision 

Now we just need act-in-black to make a dtnvs with manual gain!

After researching this for almost a year, I went with the l3 harris 31's aviation grade that Licentia offers. The service was excellent and the product is amazing. This company is great!

Unfortunately, some systems are auto gain only and for many reasons people won't be able to go with manual gain devices. The only thing you can do with those devices is get an iris blade which will help in bright conditions, but that's about it. I'm a bit skeptical that auto gain tubes always run on maximum brightness, but I have no experience with them so I can't say for sure.

Fully complement with my own experience. NVG without manual gain turns out to be useless in extremely low light conditions because of noise. The adapted eye is better than such a device, even when it utilizes a high-end tube, like Echo+ or similar

Always was wondering if bight lights or flashes from a manual would damage or wouldn’t be adjusted with manual gains. Good to know what someone thinks what is the best on the topic.

Is there is difference between manual gain, and "auto gating?"

Doesn’t the autogating feature on auto-gain devices keep it from washing out the image?

Have been shopping and researching a lot lately. BNVD-1531 vs F5032 vs DTNVS. You made a compelling argument against DTNVS, but I'm concerned about durability. I know the PVS31 family is battle tested, but I've also seen broken housings. Biggest convincing aspect this far is I can get a set of BNVD-1531s for about $7500... lol. Can I get your input?
