Lelouch’s recording is pretty damn solid. He tells Mao things that he’ll know Mao will respond to, then either gives a vague reply, interrupts Mao, or just completely drops it in favor of a more attention grabbing subject. He didn’t need to know exactly what Mao would say, just the general reaction

I noticed how Lelouch just starts talking mid conversation. There’s two ways to read this (with how the finale goes) either a) mao was so nuts that Lelouch slightly mis-read mao’s exact train of thought, or that he read schnizel so hard in the finale because Lelouch just got better

I like this episode because it shows a bit of c2's human side. She saw Mao as something like a son (even though it's shown that she's not much of a parent; look how he turned out). Is it ever that easy to kill your child?

Despite being shot like 50 times thanks to Britannian medicine Mao survived this...and yet somehow nobody could fix Nunnally’s legs or save Euphemia from one well-placed shot.

This was one of my favorite fights, you can see the effort Lelouch put in to using every single fraction of information about maos geass, to secure an absolute win. A trait we see him use again, and again

Mao’s character actually kind of reminds me of Mad Pierrot from cowboy bebop, both were crazed men made crazy by the horrible circumstances they were put through before the events of the show and ended up with the mental maturity of a young child, both characters also rendezvous at theme parks to confront the main protagonists and managed to illicit a degree of empathy from each of the main protagonists.

How did Mao survive all those bullets while Euphy died by getting shot once, unbelievable

To be honest, granted there should be an understanding for Mao's motivation given he lost the only person that cared about him, BUT If HE ever cared about her he would NEVER have SHOT HER MULTIPLE TIMES RIGHT AT HER JOINTS AND ALMOST HACK HER IN PIECES WITH A CHAINSAW! And after he sees her suffering he KEPT SHOOTING OMG!!!!! :o Then you have that other scene where Lelouch slaps C.C. but then immediately breaks and comforts her and tells her (even her been in amnesia and totally unable to resist "whatever" he would have her do...whatever...) that he would never want to see her suffering (or something like that, point is the same). Even when he could Lelouch didnt take advantage of her and meanwhile Mao proved he was chasing her because of obsession and not because of love. Given these two, I believe Lelouch rightfully earned her love, just as planned. ^^ what a lovely couple!

His insanity wasn’t his fault at all if I couldn’t stop hearing voices in my head I would lull myself he was an orphan with most likely no friends or family apart from C2 he just wanted to be with C2 and wanted C2 to love him back . Detective Conan would've busted lelouchs ass after that incident. But yes, we all know, the power of bending the plot in favor of the MC is a pathway to many things some would consider unimmersive.

It's actually more sad that Mao sees C.C. in a romantic way most likely while C.C. saw him as a son her abandoning him really messed him up, hell given the real life nature of Geass aka Geas if you break the vow and oath of it you are cursed with dishonor or death. Let's say the permanent rogue Geass as a consequence of you defying your heart given Mao's Geass is a power to read minds there's a chance Mao had adopted parents and Mao wanted to know what they thought of him, and perhaps since he was a kid with this power there could've been a chance he didn't want to see the truth of humanity anymore as it broke and the Geass remained permanent and went rogue and it tormented him. I'm willing to believe C.C. promised him IF he manages to fulfill her wish his Geass would go away and he'd be free from the curse of reading minds forever, then he learns the truth to be free from his curse he must kill C.C. and he couldn't bare the thought of doing that so seeing how much pressure she put on an innocent kid C.C. leaves him. Big mistake given how he turns out. Oh can you imagine how messed up it be if Mao succeeded in chopping C.C. up thinking she wouldn't die if he didn't have the intent only to actually kill her and take her code in the process.

So this is what Panncotta Fugo will sound like in English dub... Hell yeah!

This scene was probably the biggest plothole I've seen in Code Geass. Mao gets shot up by a firing squad yet shows up days later without a scratch on his body to mess with Lelouch one more time because of "Britannian medical science"? By that reasoning, Euphemia and Shirley should have also been saved since they also had access to it!

I don’t care how good Brittania’s medical system is, there is no way in hell that Mao should have been able to survive getting shot like 40 times.

I did a lot of thinking and no matter how you look at it the real villain here is C.C. After all she gave Mao his geass which in turn drove him insane. She used him and abandoned him all because he couldn’t fulfill there contract. He was just a normal orphan until she came along.
