The story of my ancestor Paikea is as epic as any saga gets. Washed out to sea with his wife watching as he disappears out to sea. He asked for the Gods to send him help in which he is guided by whales and finds him self washed up on a Island where he was to be put to death by fire. He was saved by his cousin and asked to command a ocean going Waka to Rarotonga and then on to NZ. His trip to NZ was a one way trip.
