How could anyone laugh at this? The Maori culture is so proud, courageous, and beautiful. Better to be friend to the Maori than opposed to them. These are such beautiful women, and the culture altogether is overwhelmingly inspiring. I send love and respect from the United States.

Women and children are the first to suffer in war. Women around the world will stand and fight and they should be able to. Viking women accompanied their men to fight. We have many graves showing this. We have many stories of women who were forced into battle. If there must be war let women be able to protect themselves. Where was it written they must cower and cry? Be strong and fight.

SINISTER KILL You might be right but evolution is inevitable. Being Tuhoe I understand 100% that traditions and cultures are important. Tuhoe are probably one of the few that hold true to their tikanga. But even Tuhoe can't evade the momentum of evolution. People change and often their ideas change. What might be traditional to you and your Iwi can be completely different to another. Change and evolution is inevitable. There are many among Tuhoe who will hold fast to their tikanga and kawa. I am one of those people so I understand where you're coming from. The reality is and I am fully aware change will happen. If not in our generation the next. History already tell us this. Once upon a time it was a bad omen to have your photograph taken. Now our Tupuna photographs are adorned on our wharepuni walls. Prior to that they were represented by whakaairo. Practicality changed that. That's called evolution, change of one's ideology and beliefs. So I say hold fast to traditions and cultures for as long as you can but be know that change will occur. Maori have always been about making things fair for everyone. The girls in the video i feel are too influenced by western type thinking where there is this need for "gender equality" and so push for things like this to be done. It's unnecessary, at least in the Maori world. Maori women have always been warriors, they don't need to do things like this to prove their value as a woman. Maybe as an individual in modern society but certainly not as a Maori. There were reasons Men played these roles in the past. If those reasons were understood then i don't believe this would be news worth telling. It's cool though, i haven't seen it before. If she has what it takes to take on that role then of course she deserves to be there. But if it's about female pride? I think Ngati WaeWae need to take another look at that.
