Never knew there was so many rocks I grew up here ran my duck boat alot in the north part through worm and the pier I have hit the rocks at the mouth of indian prairie with my surface drive so I can deff say those are there lol. I just upgraded to a hewes light tackle and wanted to get more into fishing the lake. I actually bought this map awile ago. And wanted to learn to fish the lake more guess I'll be idling alot more in the beginning.
Went recently for the first time to Lake Okeechobee Park just for sightseeing, going back in September with plans to stay a day or two and try to catch some bass, not common to see a local sharing so much valuable and detailed info, I will be looking you up for your services Captain, thank you very much for the upload.
Awesome video, thanks. I'm going to fish the lake next Saturday for first time. I'm a little bit worry because my Boat is small 16' John Boat. But definitely this video will help me a lot...thanks again
Put a deposit on my new home yesterday in Okeechobee city. As soon as I sell my house up north I will be living here full-time.I have been looking around at guides and will be contacting you as soon as I am here. Not necessarily looking for a lot of fish but more so to learn the lake. You will be hearing from me. By the way great video!
Great video. Thanks for all the information. I wasn’t aware of all of the hazards till now. I live less than 2 hours from the lake and fish it every once in a while. Spend most of my time on the Kissimmee Chain. The times I have been on Okeechobee I’ve been lucky not to hit anything. Appreciate you sharing your knowledge of the lake. Keep up the good work.
I agree with all these other people. Fantastic information about the Big O. We fished for 13 yrs. on vacation before moving down here and then BOOM.. the lake is totally different and disappointing. So we started fishing the smaller lakes and catching monsters!!! But our love for the Big O keeps us still trying and this information really helps us to learn more about Lake Okeechobee. Thank you for taking the time to share your local knowledge.
Awesome video!!! Be careful around little grassy/eagle bay.when the lake is low you can get hurt.It can look safe to turn off the main channels but I have floated into inches of water at times and it can be deceiving especially when the water is dirty
I live in Loxahatchee and planning my first trip to the lake next week. Great info hard to find anywhere else. Thanks for the help, just bought the map too!
Cody, outstanding video. Bill and I fishing with you a couple of weeks ago was awesome. This tutorial of Lake Okeechobee was exactly what fisherman need to understand the lake and what to be careful of when navigating the lake. Thank you.
Excellent video! Thanks for taking the time to share the info. Headed to Okeechobee in a few weeks, definitely some good info. Ordered a folding version of the map too.
this is an outstanding video. thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and also helping folks save their boats and fishing trips. I really appreciate this video and you, pal!!
been wanting to see a video like this.... they always say come on down but they don't tell it like you just did. I've hit bottom outside of west side of Clewiston thank God I was idle speed. water so dark and only 1.5 ft deep.. Going to save this video. going out there Saturday . I only live 45 min away from slims. Taco Bass Mike
Kreamer island use to be all farmlands there is a lot of sunken tractor disks motor blocks fence posts etc definitely be careful running around the insides
Great video buddy and even better shirt! I live 15 mins from Chickamauga and fish it often. Coming to Okeechobee next week for a tournament and appreciate all your tips and videos. Trying to be a sponge to it all, but first time down, I’m afraid I’m gonna be overwhelmed. Just gonna try to keep it simple I guess. I hope that I can get back down there in the fall to fish with you on a guide. Keep up the good work man and if you’re ever back up in Chattanooga, I’d be happy to help any way I can.
Super good video, I'm getting ready to move down there from Illinois and want to start guiding on the big O. This video was very informative as to the hazards I would not have known about otherwise. Thank you for doing this.
Awesome video! Love the breakdown of every part of the lake. There’s something about lake O that fascinates me, I don’t know much about it but I’d love to cross it one day. Now I have a lot of info about traveling the lake because of your video. Thanks man! 🔥Question tho, do people fish out in the middle of the lake, or it’s pretty much nothing going on out there?
I just saw your map tour video of Lake Okeechobee and was very impressed with it. Having trouble finding a copy of that map. Web site listed on map was no help for obtaining one. Any suggestions; where did you get yours from.
Cody, this is one of the most informative videos I have ever seen, thank you! One question, the Mark Evans charts I have purchased reference 12.5 above mean sea level. You mentioned in the video that your chart was based on a lake level of 15. How do the two references compare?
Any advice on where to find the crappie down by clewiston?? Everyone talks about the bridge on the north side i know there has to be some on the south side
I ordered the map and I'm following along. Question, my map says based on a lake level of 12 1/2 ft. You said based on 15 ft. What is the discrepancy? My map copyright 2020. I get lake levels and figuring low water. Just wondering which to go by. Thanks
