Long live Ohm speakers and vintage amplifiers! Nothing wrong with vintage amplifiers. They outperform the majority of the garbage produced today. Do they have the connectivity and digital outputs? No. But what they do have is timeless design, stellar build quality that’s meant to last and a unique sound signature that to my ears is better than all the new bullshit on the shelves nowadays. Sue me.
I have this same set of OHM speakers. They F--n ROCK!!! My hat is off to those who make them!! The are great quality!! I have had mine a very long time and they never never! fail to please my ears . I have friends who buy speaker after speaker trying to surpass my system. They sometimes equal it sort of. But then I will ask How much they paid and its always some outlandish price I have to laugh!! The man who makes them will I think send you out your set and if you do not like them you can send them back. I bet no one ever has.
They are the best I owned many different speakers, klipsch fortes, cornwalls, 3 or 4 different sets of bowers & wilkens, Bose 701, dcm timewindow & timeframe, I’ll never sell the ohm walsh 2 speakers. Truly special, found them at an estate sale 6 or 7 years ago for $75!!!! I worked at a record store that sold used hi-fi so I’ve listened to many other models, these are special.
@@travisw6378 …Got to love a good estate sale. I picked up a sweet McIntosh set-up 10yrs ago. XRT-18’s and all. I just started hearing about OHM’s a few days ago…I’m fascinated. I’m sure your familiar with another great Brooklyn company, Grado. I put a new Gold cart. on the SL-J2…What a sound stage! Base is almost 3D. Loving your 1200’s. That’s what we ran, DJing in the 80’s…keep on spinning…🍻😎
Right! Congrats, I found my pair at an estate sale like 8 years back for $75, I’ve listened too and sold many speakers these I will always keep, the imaging is amazing
Thanks for posting. Discovered Ohm speakers a couple years ago, just ordered my first pair ... the Walsh 2000 Tall Speakers, six month lead time to receive them, can't wait to get them in. Appreciate the post, not a lot of posts for Ohm.
thanks Ed, ya they definitely have a cult following, I originally posted this video to show the amp i was selling, the speakers i dont think i could ever part with, I have owned many speakers, Klipsch cornwall, fortes, several B&W models, DCM timewindow, bose 701... these image better than all of those
I bought a pair of these ,new, still have them. I found a pair of ohm 3 recently. and they are even bigger sounding. But, they fill a room unlike any other speaker.. nothing can give the sound field they give.
agree the imaging is amazing... I have listened and owned many speakers and these have been my favorite, crazy thing is i picked these up 4 or 5 years ago for $75 at an estate sale!!!
My brother in law use to have a 2270 Marantz and a set of Infinity monitors with Walsh tweeters in them. I believe they were two way speakers and when those Walsh tweeters were working they sounded fantastic ! But those Walsh tweeters would blow every time he would turn it up . I would have bought a pair of those speakers myself if the Walsh tweeters wouldn’t have blown out all the time. Probably still the best tweeters I’ve ever heard in a speaker ! I’d like to have a pair today if the tweeters were any good. That is to bad about the tweeters.
late response here, but yes you are correct, I was not familiar with this show so I looked it up, the ohm speakers are amazing, they seem to be getting more of a cult following lately
You have these fulled out to far from the wall.....Ohm's like to be close to the back wall....so you get more of the reflections and it will deepen the bass.
So if you’re familiar with the ohm 2’s they have an adjustable bass, my room has a low slant near the back which would cause weird reflections, they are only about 5ft from wall... anyways I really could care less , I assure u they are in the right spot for my room :)
Ha nice man, I don’t live in that house any more and the video was only meant to show that the marantz amp worked well, I had a rogue audio at the time and currently have mcintosh gear. I grew to like the ohm walsh speakers after owning many speakers and listening to 100s of speakers. Also recording is on an i-phone
you know I was using an ortofon concorde stylus for that video, they are the club MKII cart, its a mid level dj cart, more for disco or house style dj-ing not meant for scratching, its probably somewhere in equivalence to an ortofon red/blue. I switch between different types of carts but must have had those on cause i was doing some spinning earlier, they do have a high gain so they have more punch than some carts.
I have seen them with many different placements, a buddy of mine had his farther out than I do, it kind of depends on your room and how much bass you want, with these 2s I can set the bass at high and the mid at normal so it balances out perfectly for this setup, they image and have room to breathe in the spot I have them, probably 2.5-3ft from wall. EDIT... just realized in this video they are a little farther than my normal spot, this was for testing of the amp, but honestly, they sounded great in this location.
I don't know about that I've heard the JBL L100s personally I don't think they are better, but that's the cool thing about speakers there is a sound for everyone, I have owned klipsch cornwalls and fortes and many models of B&W speakers, and many other brands, to my ears the ohms are the best, they image like nothing else, and there is actually enough bass, I could turn the adjustment on the bottom of speaker up for the bass, but honestly for my room and if you heard it in person its too much. I moved a year ago and they are closer to the wall in my new house and the bass is even more pronounced due to proximity of the walls. I recently bought a very rare set of AR 10pi speakers and I might have to upload a video when i get around to testing those.
the marantz was a unit in video i was selling, but it ran the walsh 2s excellent. I would recommend trying it out, you can also call up ohm, last time i called John Strobeen answered the phone and was happy to answer all questions, and looked up the date of manufacture for a pair of ohm 3s I was interested in. I ended up staying with the 2s, i feel like there is something magical about the 2s, the 3s I was auditioning had the upgraded new driver and was not as detailed in imaging in my opinion.
Boomy and out of control bass, thin, recessed, sucked out mids, and shrill, shrieky unbearable treble, as bad or worse than current B&W 600 series speakers, which I didn't think was possible. I'm glad I never wasted my money on these POS garbage speakers.
I mean I have owned B&W floor standing speakers in the 600 series, Klipsch cornwalls, vintage B&W, klipsch fortes, Bose 701, and tested many others, these ohm speakers are truly magical, you gotta hear them in person, not that I even care but I mean remember this is a RU-vid video I did on my phone to sell a marantz amp, it was done quick and to show the amp worked fine.
what an arse 🤢🤢 first the speakers you are listening to are over 40 years old second they won speaker of the year when they were made its vintage hi fi they most likely need some work done to them third the company that made them is still in business and they are made in the United States of America not in chynna think before you criticize what other people have
