I have the Marantz Cinema 50 and absolutely love it. I am also using the AC Infinity AIRCOM T10, Quiet Cooling Blower Fan System in which you recommend. It works as expected. Thank you so much. My home theater has never been more responsive and I owe it all to you. Thank you so much for your help and advice. I did consider the Cinema 30, however I found it a little overkill for my application. Cinema 50 is fantastic for my 7.2 system

Thanks for this Michael. I am still enjoying my 6011 with added external amp. A 7.2.4 set up. What I found really cool was: during the room corrections, low and behold, IT FOUND a single rear height speaker I had wired in REVERSE polarity! So there is one other thing the older AVR does. I believe I purchased this in 2015 and there were still updates coming in up to a few years back, talk about great support eh? Thanks again from one of your early subscribers 😉. (Marantz owner since the year QUAD was introduced = 4140 integrated and STILL owned.)

@@Youthman I'm an Arendal stan. I'm happy, jealous, a little angry and a little disappointed about this all at the same time. I have not seen these new Arendal towers yet, but I already know I want them. ...and I can't have them because I just bought the 1723 towers like a year and a half back (give or take 2 months). I bought the 1723 towers because they were Arendal's biggest n' baddest...but now they ain't. :(

I'm running the Cinema40 7.3.4 in my theater and love it , I think the Auro3-D up mixer is great. We even run our film projector with it.

I have the Cinema 40, actually my second one... I was trying to keep it under a budget and bought an open box from CF, but then I had issues with the GAME1 input not capable of 4k-120hz... CF did a solid for me, and ended up giving me a brand new RX, in which does everything it's suppose to.... But it has a hard time switching inputs and get's stuck with no video output. In some cases, I can simply switch to a different input(no 120hz(Roku Ultra) and switch back and it'll come back to life, but other times, it requires unplugging the power cord to get it to come back. I "think" it just has a hard time with 120hz switching. I'm curious as if you see anything similar with this RX?

Man, the new line from Arendal Sounds has me drooling...and a bit disappointed. I just purchased a pair of their 1723 towers a little over a year ago, so I won't be able to justify purchasing the new Arendal product. ...and I SO want to purchase the new Arendal product. All I've seen in regards to this new Arendal kit is the handful of "teasers" they have on their site...but I'd be ready to fully embrace the entire line based solely on that and the experience I've had owning other Arendal product. I thought I had my endgame speakers. ugh. :( I'm a 2-channel guy currently, but there's more than enough "overlap" between 2-channel & home theater to keep me interested. EDIT: Figured I should mention the product that's actually shown here. Looks great. If I were a home theater guy, I'd be a lot more interested in Marantz than I am currently. I started with a whole rack full of their gear, but as I said...I'm a 2-channel guy. I replaced every single piece on my way to the equipment I have in my rack currently. I never intended this to be a hobby, but that's how it turned out. I thought I was going to get myself a Marantz preamp, a gigantic Marantz amp & some Arendal speakers and I would be done. ..but I wasn't done. I'm never gonna be done. The only thing I had in my system at the beginning that is still around....would be my Arendal 1723 towers. Everything else that I originally purchased when I first got this itch...is gone. Up to and including wiring and the actual rack itself. I hope to eventually have a "nice" home theater setup in my living room, but I just can't afford both aspects of the hobby all at once. I basically feel that I'm ALMOST at that brick wall where performance vs price is all that remains. $1,000 usd extra for only slightly marginal "upgrades". I need a pair of fancier sealed subwoofers & a really nice stand alone EQ/tone control...and then I will be able to move into the living room. Some day.....

i run an 50 cinema , svs ultra towers, ultra center , ultra bookshelves... and for an appartment thats more than enough for me now. not even running subs yes... so the 30 would push it even harder... nice nice yet im not upgrading yet... 2 presets 2 diffrent volumes i play at, works like a sharm for me ... i come from a older denon, so ja i like the new lineup ... and its not in your face too much...

When my daughter’s older marantz unit died she bought into this newest line of marantz AVR’s. Marantz is selling low end cheap stuff now. The feel is terrible, the small round window on the front is useless. The sound is lifeless without real punch or lifelike dynamics. She paid a lot of money, too much money imho for what she got. I’ve owned Marantz and come to think of it still have one of their AVR’s, it gets zero play time. I also have a $3000 non repairable Marantz AV preamp in the garage boxed up taking up space. Marantz, nah never again.

@@Youthman You sound like you’re a marantz fan. And that’s cool as we all have our favorites. I delved into multi channel systems for a time period. Thought I’d give it a whirl. Not for me. Have not heard or owned a multi channel AVR that can fill the shoes of a good ole two channel amp. Mind you I’m a music listener not a movie watcher. The dynamics the punch and scale of old school two channel amps can reproduce is something multi channel can’t do. Think about it. You have a power supply trying to feed two channels vs 7,9,11 or whatever they’re up to now!! Just not gunna happen. How many people have a dedicated home theater in their house? Good for you for sure but your experiences with this equipment is so far removed from the average persons experience that’s it’s not a fair comparison. You’re going to come away with this receiver is the greatest thing since Apple pie! And it probably will be, in your dedicated home theater. And for anyone who hasn’t heard a properly set up old school two channel sound system they’ll think it’s great too. Right up until they hear what a real amp and a single set of speakers can reproduce. I’ve witnessed it many times!! Everyone thinks they have the best until they hear something else!! The newest and latest isn’t the greatest. When it comes to audio simple is best imho. Once the initial wow factor is worn off the newest ain’t so good as the manufacturers wants us to believe. They want us to “upgrade” to their greatest ever unit, convincing us we have to have it! Soon it’ll be if you don’t have 20 channels you’re no longer part of the in stuff! But hey I digress, I’m a dying breed I know that. At some point though I can see that in the future simple stereo will be rediscovered and the masses will say, wow we’ve been deceived all this time! But until then happy listening. My money is you’ll give this receiver a glowing review. 😜

Over the years, I've owned many AVR's and Processors (Pioneer, Onkyo, Yamaha, Harman Kardon, Denon, Marantz, Emotiva and Anthem). Marantz by far has been the most stable and the 4 models I mentioned above that I've owned all sounded great. So yes, I would say I'm a fan. Definitely not a fanboy though as I currently own an Anthem AVM70. It has a lot more calibration options, but it's also not rock solid either with occasional HDMI issues and the app continually crashes. Keep in mind if you have speakers with high sensitivity (Klipsch, JTR etc), a flagship AVR can absolutely power even 11 speakers. Me personally, I'll take a properly setup multi-channel system (even for music listening) over a 2ch setup any day of the week. But that's just my preference. I've heard over 100 Home Theaters over the past 7 years. Some do it well, others not so well. I'm all for separates (even run it myself), but it's not for everyone. You can still get a very good experience from an AVR. But like I said, it really depends on the sensitivity of your speakers, their impedance, the size power supply in the AVR, size of your room, and how many channels you are powering with it. I definitely do not feel my system is anywhere near the best. But it's an incredible experience none-the-less. Maybe 2ch will make a comeback. But I don't see it converting Home Theater enthusiasts. We just have different views on what we enjoy. Neither is wrong. It simply comes down to personal preference. As far as the review, I'll give it my honest experience with it, whether that's good, bad or indifferent.

@@Youthman Can’t argue with anything you point out. Audio is different for everyone for sure. I have no doubt your theater room is impressive. If we all had the means we’d probably all have such a room and it’s great that you do! If we were neighbors you’d probably have to kick me out at times!😂 In the future should you ever have the time I would challenge you to covert a smaller space into a dedicated two channel man cave and give it whirl. Heck you might be surprised! Looking forward to a full long term review of what you think about this AVR.

Honestly, I probably will never have a two channel dedicated room. The biggest reason is, I don’t ever sit down to just listen to music for any extended period of time. I’m probably 90% home theater, 10% music. I absolutely would love to visit someone that has a wonderful two channel room and enjoy their system for a bit.

Besides the cost of the unit and that it has built in power, is there a reason you would choose the Cinema 30 over the Marantz AV10? When does it make sense for folks to go with separates like the AV10 and amplifiers? I would also love to see a comparison between Audyssey and Dirac Live with the Marantz.

Separate provides you with more flexibility, especially if you have speakers with 90dB sensitivity or lower or if you have 4 ohm speakers. External amplifiers provide much more power than an AVR can provide.

I've been without an AVR for half this year .. I've been getting use to my TV and 2ch sound at my desk while I figure things out. These AVR are pretty nice.. even the closely competitive brands and models offer a lot these days ( when they work )

Nice video walking through the unit and the OSD set-up. I'm interested in the Marantz Cinema line, but if I'm 100% going to run external amplification, is there any benefit of going to the Cinema 30 (or 40 or 50 etc.) in comparison to the Cinema 70? I'm running a 7.2 and will never likely run height speakers as my media room is open to the second story so my ceiling is a good 30' up. I'm leaning towards saving the money and just purchasing the 70 and put the difference into a new OLED tv, thoughts?

If you only plan on running 7.2 and not upgrading down the road to 9.2, 9.4 or 11.2 or 11.4, the other models will do great with external amplification.

Denon is hard to listen after a little while. I've tested Sr8015, Denon 8500, A1 H, and the Cinema 30. Overall? Cinema 30 blows all of them. The SR8015 was also a beautiful unit.

Well if I remember correctly, the RTJ Tower of Power are $40K a pair, plus they have (4) 18’s and (8) 10” woofers. They are in a completely different category in size and price.

I know looks are subjective but I like it, its a little overpriced in my opinion though and believe it should ship with dirac included, especially as you get full dirac with onkyo rz 70 for half the price although maybe twice as ugly 🤣. Mind you Onkyo seem to be the only manufacturer offering Dirac included, so Marantz are by no means only company to blame for this. Hopefully another big manufacturer start offering this included and start kinda forcing others to follow🤞. We can only hope I guess.

Front HDMI definitely made it easier when setting up a miniDSP, but that was the only use I ever had for it. And once I set it up, I didn’t use it again.

Hey@@Youthman, I use the front HDMI to hook up my laptop to the TV. That way, I can use the TV like a computer monitor and play around with REW as well as other things. I support removing the legacy composite/component video RCAs, but leave the HDMI where it belongs lol😅 Thinking more about updating to Onkyo...

Isn't that particular guarantee an "across the board" thing for Marantz when it comes to their multi-channel amplifiers? I remember hearing other audio reviewers mention an rms wattage guarantee for Marantz multi-channel amps & AVRs...but I don't remember the exact number.
