I just place it where I want and use DD toolbox sub tones to hunt for dead zones by ear in listening area. Then add more subs and/or move around until I can't find anymore. I don't see the need to go full REW nerd to get OK sound. I'm a movie and TV show enthusiast, I just need budget excellence, not HiFi perfection.
Just saying Youthman, i really enjoy your videos and the way you can talk about it in such a enthusiastic way, makes a smile on my face every time i watch you. Keep it up👍
Great video! I really appreciate the sentiment of enjoying the journey of a new hobby/passion because it can be incredibly intimidating to get into something new when you see others so much further in their journey who have the knowledge, experience, and budget beyond your current scope. Sometimes it can be discouraging and hard to enjoy the progress you have made when you feel you do not have the access you need to reach that level. This is true for home theater, but really any interest. I liked how many times throughout the video there were old photos of your room, the 19" screen and various level of speakers, the room being built out, etc. Very encouraging. The other part of this video I thought was important was in the end when you discuss the connection with people of similar interests. Tim really made a great point that it doesn't matter who you are or where you are at in your own home theater progress. As long as you are passionate about it, you will be part of the community. Encouraging beginners and offering tips on how to make things better for those on a budget or working with an odd space is so important. Lot of takeaways from this video that I think transcend far beyond home theater. Very cool.
Thank you so much for this video. Just an additional comment, I’m running an SVS Ultra Center and I’ve dropped the crossover to 60Hz. I am running dual PB-1000 Pros and I found that a capable center gets very clear if it is in small format at 60Hz because it keeps some of those vocal bass notes from going to the monster subs. Most people tell you to set crossovers to 80Hz but on multiple setups (SVS, JBL and Polk) I’ve found that 60Hz center crossover instead of the 80Hz is clearer.
So true!!! I started in Car 🚙 audio in the 90’s with all my friends cars (Bass Heads) then got into SQ systems by 2000’s and last decade it’s been all about HT systems…. I literally have done Hybrid systems with in DIY side with Boston Pro’s 12.5LF Subs total 6 of them makes my drapes shake and some AURA bass shakers and loving every bit of it!! So yeah like “Youthman” said it’s definitely a journey- Enjoy it!!!
I currently have a Denon X4700h AV receiver, which says it has nine different power amps rated at 200 watts each. To me, this means each speaker is getting 200 watts. Please correct me if I am wrong. I want to know if that is correct or if I should add a separate amplifier to push my Definitive Technology DM80 LR and DM30 C speakers. I have been looking at a seven and nine channel Monoprice Monolith as well as Summit HiFi amp. Thanks in advance.
Shout out to “Nick” as he gave me & my Dad a 2 channel demo to actually feel how the room pressurized instead of all 8 of 24”’s which was an amazing experience in itself! Also Youthman taking that selfie 🤳 at the end of the show Sunday was the icing 🧁 on the cake!! Thank you ☺️ so much for putting on this event as it was wonderful put together!! Cheers 🍻 from Vegas!
Love these speakers but I just can't bring myself to order heavy stuff from Norway, it's just too environmentally horrible. if they are made in China let us (who lives near China) order it straight from China.
These themed home theatre rooms will get old pretty quick. Unless your an old western lover but for resale of the home? I prefer to have it all blacked out so you can just focus on what your watching. To each their own I guess.
@Youthman @jvonengeln 25:20 I believe the Spears & Munsil HD Benchmark 2nd Edition disc from 2013 is actually 75dB -30dBFS in the main channels & -40dBFS for LFE according to Stacey Spears who had mentioned this "The audio tones on the 2nd edition are dead on accurate. If you have a THX AVR, they will match in SPL, if the THX AVR meets spec. THX helped us ensure the levels are correct. Every signal was measured with an Audio Precision Analyzer to ensure it was electronically -30 dBFS for the mains and -40 dBFS for the LFE. There is the 75 (-30 dBFS) vs. 85 dB (-20 dBFS) and some AVRs and discs output tones for 85 (theatrical) instead of 75 (home cinema). There are even some discs that output something closer to white noise, which is way off." & Roger Dressler of Dolby Labs fame, confirmed this too, "Do you have a copy of the Spears & Munsil 2nd Edition test disc? If so, those levels (in either 5.1 or 7.1 format) are known accurate. The noise on that disc is pre-filtered from 500 Hz - 2.0 kHz, and is recorded -30 dBFS in the main channels and -40 dBFS in the LFE channel, all of which are intended to play at 75 dBC SPL at reference volume level."😉
The person who claimed carpet glue is the same as green glue is just gaslighting. Not hard to search for objective tests showing that it doesn't come close to doing what green glue does. Heck, for my wallet's sake, I wish it did. But put down the pitchfork and let's stick to the facts, folks.
I overlooked this remote thinking YIO meant it was yet another Chinese company, but then they rebranded as "Unfolded" and I saw more videos on it. Very interesting. I backed the Remote Three on Kickstarter and got 3 of them! I'm a big user of Home Assistant, so I'm hoping to use it as a home control that isn't as ugly as a giant tablet sitting in the room.
