March at the allotment garden is a very busy time. For us, it's clearing rubbish from my mum's new plot, getting beds ready for planting, and sowing those vegetables! I'm trying to make sure I'm ready for the growing season ahead, am I ready for spring?
The greenhouse has been cleaned but there's still loads to do!

I’m glad they helped with skips to clear it certainly helps. I am seeing a trend of everyone feels disheartened or behind but it will come and get better. Sunny days are on the way 👍👍. Have an awesome week Jim, Ali 🥶🌞🇨🇦

Cold weekend and Easter week coming up then hopefully it'll improve Ali. Always the case in spring, just as cold as winter sometimes. Have a good end to the week!

I have this problem quite a lot especially if it's too cold or if the seeds aren't fresh

Thanks Terry! 😁 The peas are prone to rotting I think

🐀 I’m thinking of getting those battery high pitch sound things but not sure if they actually work? I’m having similar rodent issues

I know they work for birds and cats. Id imagine they would work as rats are timid. There again they're very clever so they'll likely just become accustomed to the sound but that's just a theory

I may give one a go, they under £10 the rats have made so many tunnels in my greenhouse beds.. they dug through the gravel trench it’s sat on made a right mess

Germination of my sweet peas have been poor too. Rats are a fabulous part of the allotment ecosystem will eat your snails and slugs (as well as your corn and veg 😂) they also provide a large part of a foxes and hawks diet, so numbers will go down soon due the spring babies arriving. There's always been rats on my allotment, my old rotten shed was infested last winter, so I've got rid of it and bought a new one. You just need to be one step ahead of them 😊

I'm all for reconsidering my options if they take care of the slugs for me! 😂
