I find it interesting how you put speaker strobes in all the rooms. You should do speaker strobes in the hallway and remote strobes in the rooms to keep it more quiet.
They aren't speaker strobes they are sounder strobes. The purpose of a fire alarm system is to alert you of a fire emergency it is supposed to be loud and needs to be at minimum 75 dB in the rooms.
I use them every day except Friday and Saturday night I would however like more though as I'm not a fan of the skinny bar but the price is crazy for new stuff
You did a great job with the whole install. Nice clean work. How long do you think that Generator will run with a full tank with everything that it backs up if there was an actual outage? By the way, Nice silver paint job on garage door
06:03 That felt slightly weird that there was a extremely short delay in activation (the panel piezo beginning to sound) after it got pulled of the clicking sound of the pull station wheres normally the pull station clicking sound and piezo would sound at the same time or go off instantly and this happened because of the behavior of LiteSpeed where it mostly without a delay or with an extremely short delay from the time the piezo activates after the pull station clicks
Just thought of an idea for the garage system: if you get a weatherproof strobe and put an amber lense on it then label it sprinkler on one side and flow on the other when you get sprinkler flow you will know before you enter the building that a sprinkler has gone off
to highlight if a sprinkler had gone off so you'd know to make sure its not real before shutting down water lines. just thought it might be a good idea
@@giamansd712 you can tell if it's a sprinkler for a few reasons those include the monitor module which is labelled sprinkler flow and it will be illuminated If it is tripped the panel will also say what device active
I do have a suggestion for your house system, and that’s adding CO detection. Assuming you have a gas furnace in there, it would be a good idea to have that
@@nics-systems-electric Then why do you have a CO detector in the garage? Is it because somebody could theoretically drive a car in? If so, wouldn't you also want one in the garage bay in the main house?
The common recommendation used to be MS 2 or MS 4 however they have significantly gone up in price. The MS5UD or MS10UD series of panels are good user-friendly panels. I do not recommend Edwards fire shield panels as they are difficult to program.
If you want a cheap system, conventional is the way to go. I use an MS2 and I recommend getting an MS2 or 4. They're both good starter panels that are very simple yet versatile. If you're going to be doing a larger-scale project, I recommend the MS4, and the MS2 for smaller-scale. As for pull stations and alarms, make sure the pull stations are conventional if you end up getting a conventional system. Most importantly do your own research to find out what equipment suits your project best.
@@nics-systems-electric That's good. Wish it could be the same for me. One neighbor doesn't mind me but my other neighbor hates when I do my smoke alarm tests and siren tests.
I love the video, few comments that’ll either make me sound really annoying, or helpful. Hopefully the latter. 1: 2:55 It could just be my eyes, or the fact that the strobes aren’t easily picked up, but there looks to be a synchronization issue in this shot. 2: 8:20 Just a suggestion, maybe consider installing a CHSR, or CHSRL in the shed, it’s a similar thing to the horn in a bathroom issue, I know how annoying I sound. Great video, I don’t know how you do it. P.S. Jaxons really cute
i'm glad you enjoy. The strobes are synchronized that is a legal requirement for fire alarm systems and that is done through the synchronization protocol programmed into the system. cameras have a hard time picking up the strobe flash as it is a very fast discharge and even at 60 FPS it can be hit or miss if the strobe flashes at the same time as the sensor gathers image information especially in bright environments. I'm not sure why I would need a chime strobe in the bathroom there would be no purpose of that and would be a mixed signal which is illegal.
@@nics-systems-electric that’s the point. A horn strobe in that, maybe 2 or 3 square foot shed (≈1 square meter) could be dangerous. Picture this. You or someone in your family are searching for something in the shed when an initiating device malfunctions or dinner tripped a detector like in that one video. And say they’re searching on the left side of the shed. An advanced horn strobe, in those circumstances is more than enough to burst someone’s eardrum.
@@FireSystem45 not at all. it's very simple math that 1×2 would give you a two square-foot building. you wouldn't even be able to fit inside that. The building is 32 ft.² and a fire alarm device even on high volume legally cannot exceed 108 dB with the safe exposure time to that is 30 minutes. This device is set to low volume. Nor would it be possible to go off from cooking. For those reasons listed that's why it's fine to be a horn strobe.
They are reliable panels so it is unlikely to find a defective unit that could be tested as you would otherwise be paying a few thousand dollars just to destroy something which would be stupid
How would you suggest that be done? it runs directly off the generator supply therefore mitigating the potential for transfer switch failure creating over temperature while the generator is running. You would also have to ensure the make up air damper is triggered to open for that extended time as it's 10 V open command is ran off generators supply.
@@nics-systems-electric I suspect your fire code does not permit ceiling-mounted candy canes. When exposed to the heat of a fire the sugar may melt and present a burn hazard to anyone passing below. If you don't like them then why'd you take one?
@@eDoc2020 I have no idea if that would be an issue or not I don't think anyone would ever say anything about that either way this is my house. You will find sometimes in life it's easier to just take something someone's trying to give you then to refuse it sometimes you have to go with the flow
Does your dog freak out if he hears the sound of the fire alarms going off? If he doesn't freak out then that could mean that you exposed him to the sound of it and he got used to it.
Alright. Have you tried to get Jaxon exposed to the sound when he or she was a little puppy? Here in the United States, I don't have a fire alarm system yet because I'm living in an apartment complex with my parents but I'm seventeen years old and I'll be graduating high school in May of 2024. One other thing, if you are a fire alarm technician, can you help me with my Silent Knight SD 5808 Addressable Fire Alarm Control Panel because I am trying to wire and program devices to it but I don't have any experience with advanced stuff
Oh my God, I am sorry for the dog's trauma from the previous owners. Thank you for adopting the dog because to me personally, I wouldn't want an animal like a dog to go to another person that will do harm to them. I hope that they're doing okay and hopefully you are giving him a good life with you, I really hope that the dog feels like they're safe with you and gains your trust because some dogs that go through traumatic situations become aggressive because they're afraid of being hurt again.
I think it would be cool to add horn strobes set to temp 4 for the carbon monoxide alarm. Keep in mind this is only an Idea. I am not going to tell you how you to build your system.
No, hail doesn’t usually mean tornadoes. Tornadic storms may have hail sometimes, but it’s not a sign of tornadoes. Also Canada is not as prone to tornadoes as the US is
i notice at the start of this video [ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mbFhSYqbYjk.html] the metal stopper in the sprinkler head flares out at the end. i have never seen this with pendant heads. why is this?
The file size isn't a concern some people just don't seem to like the smooth look as it causes motion sickness or something I don't exactly know as it seems more preferable to me
@@nics-systems-electric can’t say I’ve heard of that. I would recommend to always try to use a single frame rate for a video since editing software sometimes misbehaves whenever different videos have different frame rates or resolutions.
@@mattdude using Final Cut Pro X I just set the frame rate of the project to the higher of any clips and it doesn't seem to cause any issues with Clips at a lower frame rate
My 5 year old loves watching these videos. So much so that i hooked up a pull station and a couple strobes for him, lol.. He made his own System Test Video... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qXx67B5O9xY.htmlsi=Ii-_IvOrngEobhb6
