One of the best episode on TBE. I love to see that Antonsen and Pak Hans notice that Marcus gets less credits than he deserved because his partner is more popular. Finally! So glad Gideon also speaks up about the regulation regarding Players tournaments registration that has to be done through the national federation. I agree with what he said "if the rule is changed, it makes badminton more approachable". Nice convo right there! I also agree with Hans that Gideon should be in the athletes commission. Or, you guys, as Antonsen said, you can make your own league with your own rules😀 In conclusion, I respect that three of you have the same concerns about badminton and want to change it. 100% agree with giving credit to both players after a match. when the minions lost a match, indonesian BL often start talking trash and say things like kevin has put more work than gideon has, kevin cover 90% of the court, etc etc. but gideon ofc has put as much effort. because as what he said, if kevin wins, he wins. vice versa. so, never discredit anyone just because you “watch” and feel like some things are off. you never know how they are on court in real life. ♡ anyway, tysm for this podcast! it is a really entertaining and informative one! best of luck for you two!

Undoubtedly Marcus is Kevin's best partner. He's always accommodating and nurturing, as if he figuratively tells Kevin, "I got you." His role is vital for most Kevin's magical maneuvers. Above all, he's the type of a guy who just wants to do his job and couldn't care less about unnecessary sh*t, hence his humble and honest demeanor.

Have always been a silent supporter of Marcus since 2017. What a hardworking guy. Often overlooked by many but keeps doing his best on court. Many now say Kevin should play with a new partner but I don't think there'll be someone as great as Marcus to cover Kevin with his speed and mood on court. And exactly just like Hans said... people won't know about LD/LCW if they don't watch badminton but someone like me who don't watch tennis knows who Federer or Nadal is. Badminton is a great sport. I just hope it gets more popularity other than in Asia. To Africa, north/south America..., please love badminton I beg!

49:14 I couldn't Agree more to Gideon, Badminton needs more _fun_ to watch. and like it or not, Kevin has been contributing a lot in badminton's vibe. His unique character has changed the game, some of my friends who were not into this sports now are getting to it. For me as far as their carrier as a couple, one of the most tense and drama match was the one in the 2018 all england semifinal.

Marcus Gideon is one of the greatest badminton players of all time. He has all the striking traits of an amazing athlete: Determination, Ambition, Discipline and Hardwork. Such a talent, and so humble even after all his achievements. He has not only the great skills but also the ATTITUDE! Hope he knew just how much he was loved and admired by so many. Glad to see that he was also in support of Lee Zii Jia, I think Badminton is really moving towards a better place with more players befriending one another, such as Goh Jin Wei and Chen Qing Chen on her youtube, this podcasts, Viktor's training camp, etc. It is building such a beautiful community.

I may sound biased but I think this is the most interesting podcast among all TBE podcasts because it’s not like QnA it’s so nice to see how engaged Marcus is in this TBE episode. I would like to thank Hans and Antonsen for giving Marcus props for the things that he does so well on the court such as smashing, jumping from side to side and having to cover the court a lot so Kevin can do his unpredicted shots. Sometimes Marcus didn’t get the same credit to all the work that he have been doing in all the rallies before as much as Kevin but people need to realize that Kevin can do his magic in the front court because he knows and he believes that he has a reliable partner, a very hard working and steady partner, in the back court that will be there to help and cover him up. Marcus is an important key to the partnership in his own ways. Kevin wouldn’t be as good as him rn without the type of partner like ✨ Marcus Fernaldi Gideon ✨

I work for 10 years in esport, specially on CSGO(where danish excell) We went from Lan tournament to win graphic card and sleeping under table to players paying 100 k salary, having tournament with Millions in Cashprize, and MOST Importantly : Since in csgo(for example) it's private organisers , There is a big adversity between tournament organisers (who will do the best show) . There is Content before between and after matchs (with commentators / with subject video/ with funny content ) There should be something like that at least one time per year, people will get hyped money will come , and it will be such a big show ! Also when i was working in sweden for the major in 2021 , i talked to device(most successfull csgo player in history) , he saw me doing shadow badminton( we started to talk about it , He told me that he used to practise in danish youth team along axelsen. (then he stopped due to injury and played a lot of videogames). he could be a really nice Guest for you ! Views on video will go SKYROCKET !

During the game and outside the game Kevin are two different characters. He is quiet and shy. All BL know that Kevin is very aggressive and very competitive to win. Maybe some people say it's a form of his arrogance. Lure people to emotions, lose concentration, lose control. As long as it doesn't violate the rules, for me it's fine. So kevin took the risk of being hated by many people with his character on the field.. so that badminton is better known and noticed by the sports world, more interesting and not boring to watch. And Gideon with his maturity always supports and understands Kevin. You both are amazing and humble and role model. May Gideon and Kevin always be given the spirit and strength, health .. so that they can continue to play in the long term. I pray that God will heal Gideon's injured leg quickly. i think kevin isnt an easy person to partner with. many miscommunication happened when kevin paired with players other than gideon last thomas cup. gideon doesnt seek competition, hence he is an awesome tactical support for kevin

The point that Kevin's antics attracts people to badminton is really true. I am a singles player and was never interested in the MD game. But after I watched a game of Kevin and Marcus, I was hooked. I started following all threads of competitive badminton.

Gideon so humble 😲,, actually many time i see the incridible skill from gideon. I already heard from coach kevin can train with short time then another player (i think that just sweet words for kevin) so that is fact? . In one of interview kevin said: gideon works so hard that kevin feels bad when he's lazy to train so he did work hard. Thats mean kevin is motivated from gideon too.. Anyway, i still waiting you guys bring kevin on your podcast. 😁

Namun sayangnya politik di Indonesia sulit untuk menempatkan orang yang tepat di tempat yang tepat. Semoga bisa berubah... (Kalau perlu jadi ketua BWF).

What a lovely episode. Antonsen brings up a very interesting point that no badminton player is bigger than badminton itself, when in other sports that are not so famous you will still know about certain athletes, like Tom Brady for NFL, Tiger Woods for golf, etc. I hope badminton gets a lot more interest & respect from people around the world

I just realize how mature and humble Gideon he is..he realized that people outside please kevin more, but he just thinking it positively, not big matters for him as long as with the same goal to be a winner..in my opinion, the pair is always working together, noone can says that its depends on one player side. No away..a men double match can win if two of them work together as a team, so both of them deserve to get awards.. as an indonesian national assets, marcus and kevin are equal, both of them are our national hero..thank you for both of them..kevin has his own special character, as long as the pair can work together, so its ok they are both having very different characters..wish your ankle will be perfect healed marcus..thank you AA and Hans..

If im not mistaken Kevin have been said one of the reason he act 'naughty' on court is because sometimes asian players often get some bad treatment, got discriminate and etc. That's why he acting tough on court. Some top players from top countries in badminton world -iykyk- also often underestimate Indonesian players, especially since both Kevin and Marcus is too short from their opponent. Both Kevin and Marcus is sooooooo ambitious person, competitive, have fighting spirit, never want to lost, and so idealism too. I remember Kevin playing a game for fun with one of his friend for youtube content but he took it so seriously lol. One of the reason why Minions mostly lost to Endo-Yuta bcs Japanese pair also have this ambitious, competitive but less provocative with them. So it's like not a secret anymore, if you doesn't want Kevin naughty/arrogant/whatever you called side come out when playing againts you, don't you try to provocate him.. even just too early celebration before the game really over can get his competitive ass mad and it can lead him to be on fire on court.
