well, no it's not the only one :) cantaloup island from herbie is not very long too :). freedom jazz dance, etc .... :) greatest bassist ? impossible to tell, because there are so many amazing bassist out there, john patitucci, jeff andrews, tom kennedy, will lee, darryl jones, jimmy johnson, jaco pastorius, and so many others. but yeah, marcus is definitively one of the best who had a lot of influence in jazz music ! what a guy !
***** Man,but what a list! Don't forget Victor Wooten and Stanley Clarke. There are some good argentinian bassist: Guillermo Vadalá, Pedro Aznar, Javier Malosetti. But at the end, it was just a comment. I like Marcus style by the way.
yeah impossible to name them all !! i unfortunatly don't know any argentinian bass player. but yes, i know , i'm crazy about marcus too, as i'm the one who uploaded this video, you're on my channel lol :) ... if you want to check (my website is still under construction) but i recorded a tune with Will Lee (and dave weckl and eric marienthal). here (the page about it on my website will be online soon again at www.didiermartini.com ) Didier Martini - Metropolitan PROMO (feat. Martin Miller, Dave Weckl, Eric Marienthal, Will Lee) you can listen meanwhile to the full song on soundcloud soundcloud.com/didiermartini/didier-martini-metropolitan
Gabriel Charlyx i don't know if i can consider myself (explanation is in my biography), as i only heard one time my own tune lol. but yeah i'm fortunate to have been able to contact and approach these amazing musicians. will lee is an amazing guy and is very nice. i produced some other tunes that i can't release for now due to big hearing problem, but in the future, i hope to release them, because they have, as guest, Jimmy Johnson, John Pena, John JR Robinson, Gregg Bissonette, Craig Sharmat, Michael Landau, Mitchel Forman, Benny Greb, Eric Marienthal, and some others dudes ! Thanks for your comment ! i must put an excerpts on my site for some of these tunes as a preview. i'll do that one of this day, because i have no idea when i'll be able to release them, it's unfortunatly, one of my biggest frustration, maybe in some years (i hope not).
Yep !! the JD800 was pretty rare on stage ! i had from 1990 to 1997 an Ensoniq Eps16+ and later during a few times an ASR10R. i loved these keyboards (i was an Ensoniq Freak ;) ). the JD800 was a very good machine ! i love and still use one of his preset, Number 13 : Crystal Keys (can be heard on Beauty and The Beast's Single from Alan Menken / Walter Afanasieff. it has been the Keyboard Signature of Walter during a long long long time ! (i don't own a JD800, but this preset is available in some Software synth).
