We take an in depth look at all the included drinks on Marella and taste test most of them. We saw reviews before we went saying the drinks were undrinkable! We put this to the test. Our drinks review includes wines, cocktails, mocktails and beers. We let you know our thoughts and whether we felt it was necessary to upgrade to the premium package. We explain the costs and will help you decide whether the upgrade would be right for you.

We love to travel and go on walks and days out. It is really important that we can continue to afford to do this so budgeting wisely is essential. Money is tight and so are we! Our mission is to share hints and tips on travelling, things that are value for money and budgeting.
In doing this we also like to bring a little humour and fun into our videos.

We've done many marella/Tui/tomson cruises & like yourselves We've never ever witnessed Benidorm at sea like some folk refer it to we don't take the negative reviews on there is more positives than there is negatives we have done other cruise lines but more Marella they are our favourite they do know how to party on sailaways, we have had the upgraded drinks package & also the standard drinks package we do stick to the standard drinks package now & if we want premium drinks we can just buy same with the coffee from the coffee port if we want a coffee we can buy, we find we can get by with the alcohol drinks in the standard drinks package, I found your video very informative thank you.

Absolutely agree. There was a lovely choice of cocktails on the all inclusive menu and the Merlot in the dining room was first class. Going on our fifth Marella cruise in September and can't wait!

This is definitely your second best video to date (second to the dog friendly pubs in Lichfield with your friend Disco Dave). Very entertaining watch. To be fair, it's all subjective but the allegations appear unfounded. Are people telling lies ? Very well put together. Well done.

Great vlog with great information. We won't take the drinks package if we cruise. The drinks looked very weak. Mind I do like a good sangria and found the best one in Faliraki!! Lol enjoy your time and thanks for sharing 👍

It was all-inclusive, so we weren't complaining (too much), but we were glad we didn't upgrade to premium. We usually pay as we go rather than having a package, but we got a good deal on our next cruise, so we bought one! Rinse and repeat! Thanks for watching 👍

Loads of fun guys ! Rockin Rita was the best on the All Inclusive menu but the smoked cocktails in Bar 11 were brilliant … Old Smokey and The Smoked Margaritas we loved. Trolleyed on a cruise ship - Happy Days!

Very helpful and enjoyed the humour as well 🙂 We've now done 2 Marella cruises - Explorer last year and just come off the Discovery. Had a great time on both. We're not experts or heavy drinkers. We also thought the wine was a bit "meh" - even in the dining room - but not undrinkable. Prosecco fine. Cocktails - what we had (mostly Pina Coladas to be fair plus the odd "experiment") were good with alcohol content dependent on the bar staff pouring. Never weak and occasionally quite strong. Gin and tonic with dinner was perfectly drinkable. What we did like compared to other ships was that, if you wanted a premium drink or a coffee, you were only charged a small extra charge - not the whole cost like some other cruise lines (even with their drinks package purchased). For a 7 day cruise our drink "extras" bill was £28 🙂

"It doesn't feel like you are drinking alcohol at all" - pretty much what we've found with every Marella cocktail so now we just order doubles and a mixer on the side. The premium wine choices at dinner were significantly nice than the default. I think they are the only cruise line to have red & white 'on tap' in the buffet. Tried a glass one lunchtime, didn't repeat the experience. But still say that Marella are good value, just need to learn what not to do.

Oh, and me bab! Grew up not far from yow in Smethwick 😊. Celebrity are great but you do pay for it. The service is brilliant and food is great too. Lots of nice areas on the ship to enjoy too. The drinks and tips are not included and the premium drinks work out to be up to £80 pp per day! The martini bar is amazing though, you soon forget about the cost when you’re in there. I’ll keep a look out for your other videos for sure.😊

First there was TISWAS, then there was nothing but now Saturday mornings are fun again. Another great video. The bottled beers look good but the draught choices were disappointing. I reckon they'd fill the ship if they put some Bathams or Holdens on the list.

Personal I think the normal drinks package is fine,the only thing for me was the coffee was weak ,so for my coffee fix I would go to the coffee port .👍

Well, we enjoyed that. Mrs is from Tipton and Mr is from Dudley so we loved hearing the accents too. So we did Discovery in Nov 23 with standard package. We coped pretty well with that on our first ever cruise. But our findings were like you that the drinks were pretty weak, but as time went on you can ask for extra measures, which on one occasion sent Mrs Fran to bed early lol. and if you want some thing like a Bacardi and coke ask for it by name " a double Bacardi and coke" if you ask for rum and coke you get the cheap stuff. We are looking at the Asia ones for later this year (we were in Caribbean, Miami etc) and do not need the premium drink. The beer offering is a bit rubbish though but Mr M found the bottles more than enough once he got into the swing of it. As for the delays at the bar, we saw a bit of that but was never an issue, and we found if you were polite with the staff, they remember you and look after you more. Some guests were downright rude to them so what should they expect? Also the smut in this video was enjoyed by both of us lol. Happy Cruising.

Actually we were both born in West Brom, I was season ticket holder when my dad was still alive. We left all that many years ago and now live on a narrowboat in Gloucestershire. We still get called yam yams! lol.

We were on the D2 last year and DIDN’T get the package either. So pleased we didn’t as I’m sure you agree it isn’t worth it. The bottled lager is in the main what I would call premium and on the included list, so again, not worth upgrading. We are on the E2 start of May and hoping it will be equally as good. As for “Benidorm at see”, not something we experienced last year 😊

Great minds think alike! 😀 I guess the itinerary and dates might make a difference re passenger behaviour, but I have a relatively high nonsense threshold, so we have never seen any really appalling behaviour on Marella. Have a great time on Explorer!

Hiya. I have done over 30 Marella/Thomson cruises & the drinks back in the late 90's before packages were awful. It all got better 10 years later or so. But the last 5 years, or since covid it is awful again. If you are sat at a table and waiter served no matter what cocktail you order will be made with house spirits unless you ask for say' Smirnoff in it. I have seen barman after barman make drinks like mudslide with fake baileys ( Mollys) and house vodka instead of Absolute. I have always sit at the bar and since they have now removed all bar seats outside have gone back to P & O... I have seen old pepsi 2 litre bottles filled from the snake gun and then put on the carts to go around etc. believe me I have seen things you would never believe. After probably nearlly 70 cruises my advice is , always go to the bar and watch your drink being made. But I am a fussy old git.

That is very interesting! And good advice. I am mainly a beer drinker, but If I have a short, it will generally be a whisky or G&T, and I am happy to pay the premium for a particular brand. I will sit at the bar in future and observe what goes on. It may make an interesting video!! Thanks for watching 👍

As a newbie to Marella i found this video really useful, thank you! We're not paying extra for premium as we're going on a very port intensive cruise. I love Margaritas so I'll probably stick with the Rocking Rita and Gin and Tonic and stick to the prosecco and white wine in the MDR rather than the buffet.

Just returned from our Discovery 2 cruise and I enjoyed the Sauvignon Blanc, Prosecco and Merlot in the dining rooms. I stuck to Rocking Rita, Singapore Sling and Gin and tonic in the bars and also enjoyed a cold beer returning to the ship after an excursion. I'm glad we didn't bother to upgrade as we were perfectly happy with the drinks provided. Your video was really helpful!

Should hold a wine glass by the stem. That way you don't heat up the wine. Do like to have wine with a meal. Sometimes a Mimosa with Brunch. One thing about Marella Cruises, they have a casino. Ambassador Cruise Line looks good too.

I don't disagree with any of your comments on the video, we don't drink a great deal, however we have done the drinks package on about 7 Marella cruises now and find it to be reasonable with the price, I like a couple of coffee's at the coffee port each day but probably only have 5 or 6 bottles of beer a day which is on the standard menu, Mrs C likes the odd 'Grey Goose' vodka so we pay the upgrade. I have done one cruise with P & O recently and it will probably be my last, the ship was too big, not as friendly as Marella and the drinks package was about £50 each per day, now that is something to moan about, if you wanted to attempt to get your moneys worth each day you would have found it difficult and mostly being in ques.

Yes it is totally a personal decision based on what you like to drink and how much you drink. We too think P&O drink package is very expensive. We are trying an Ambassador Cruise today for the first time and we have purchased the drinks package on here so will be letting everyone know what that is like soon. We have done 5 Marella cruises. Never needed to upgrade. Cold drinks. Excellent cocktails and (as I occassionsly do) non alcoholic lager available in chilled bottles. Decent fizz as well. But apparantly I'm not as qualified as these geniuses having been a caterer for 40+ years. There is a definate anti- Marella vibe in all their Marella videos. There are other better well balanced reviews.

If you want premium drinks just upgrade on board, we have done 14 cruises with Thomson /Marella and if you want Smirnoff Vodka or Gordon's Gin just tell the waiter or the bar man and you will get it.

Good to know about coffee too, now whos paying 😂 Great to mention the water refills ♻🌊🦭♻ i did notice the plastic straws so might be worth taking your own reusable for when they start to use paper ones (no one likes a soggy 🥤🧃straw)
