Keep at it. It's most definitely worth it. First year or two was the hardest for me. Speaking from experience, don't make any major life choices during that time, like getting married or anything like that. Also, try to find a hobby or two or five. Gotta replace that time with something. My biggest dilema was figuring out exactly what sober people did every day. Sounds stupid I know. Good luck.

I think a lot of people think she was high on mushrooms for 13 years. She was saying she used substances indiscriminately for 13 years. Not that she was high off one trip. I think the reason people are confused is because Neal was confused as he is typically comparing it to his year long trip/ reactivation on 5-MeO-DMT. Which was a harrowing experience as he explains it. "I wouldn't wish this o my worst enemy."
@CameronPostelwait
@CameronPostelwait Месяц назад
true, although after she explained that, she basically says 'but I was probably high on shrooms the whole time too' (paraphrase). She's probably joking but confusing as hell. I knew someone who felt like she was messed up permanently from a bad LSD trip which is kind of what I was thinking she means (not 'high' but messed up).

She's awesome...a good lesson here is that any extreme form of reaction to unhealthy behavior, is also unhealthy, and doesn't do the core work that it takes actually kick an addiction in real life. This kind of hit close to home since I am a 3-year recovering alcoholic who is slightly obsessed with my diet. I eat vegan most recently, but to my credit I was vegetarian before I quit drinking. I also was diagnosed with an actual mental illness at the same time I went sober. But on the other hand, I smoke a lot of weed, and have been a regular/semi regular (weed) smoker most my life. (edit: and no, I don't look like shit, I am nearly 40 and I haven't been this healthy since I was probably 20) While nothing about my diet/life is perfect, or following any sort of guide book, I just know that alcohol for me personally is the express lane towards depression and a downward spiral of shittiness. And this combo of factors in my life have kept me away from drinking to the point where I really don't have the desire to drink it anymore, and simply removing alcohol from my life adds an abundant amount of hope and lifeforce that I need. I can't tell is Cho is being funny about the conspiracy that plants have against us, but for some people like myself, I can live a pretty normal healthy lifestyle enjoying marujuana and mushrooms. I also can't tell if she's kidding about her mushroom trip lasting 13 years. I think in reality, she had a horrible trip that caused her to stop giving a fuck about life for 13 years. Margaret was likely in an extremely vulnerable, bad place when she ingested those things and likely brought upon a semi-psychotic break. Some people should never be eating mushrooms and personally I don't think it's really a "recreational" drug in the traditional sense. It's a powerful mind altering substance that can be mentally damaging if used irresponsibly. It's also has incredible potential for growth, healing and insight if used responsibly. At the end of the day the only way you can remove a bad behavior/addictive substance from your diet is to 1) truly want to and 2) keep visualizing your life and your future without these negative factors, and keep that dream alive by taking each day as it comes with as much grace as possible

The context of her statement is misleading. From talking about a psilocybin trip to talking about 13 years of binging. The trip didn’t last 13 years, it’s physically impossible for a psilocybin trip to last that long, but it was the catalyst for 13 years of self destructive behavior. In that context, the conversation makes sense. I think even Neal was a little confounded when she followed up with the 13 year statement.

I believe 100% she's not lying about that 13 year comment. Almost 10 years to the day, I had a terrible terrible terrible mushroom experience that completely changed me. I'm still not right from it. Sure, could be psychosis that was brought out from it or other things. I know it's not mushrooms still in my system, but the mental and even physical aspect that I went through during that trip never really left. To this day, it's like I have a thin veil in front of my eyes 24/7. Like snow or fuzz. Constantly seeing black shadows and orbs in the corner of my eye. Still get a slight facial distortion here and there or colors might seem slightly off. Mental health wise, I am probably the worst I've ever been in my life ever since that day. Been homeless four times and just completely wrecked myself. To put it in perspective, I never took shrooms before nor did I really do my own research on what NOT to do. I was basically the epitome of that. I was alone, and my apartment, at night, very bad mood, depressed, etc... At first it was great. I was playing Mario and all the colors started jumping out and I kept laughing. Was loving it. Then I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. Then I'm all the sudden taunting myself (or the reflection looking back at me. ). Then my reflection turned red and horns grow out of my head. The reflections started shouting threatening things at me. Saying it's going to corrupt my soul, rip me to shreds, torture me until I'm dead and then torture me some more. Next thing I know, I'm crawling around my living room growling like a f****** animal. Then I thought I was visited by aliens because there were Grays walking around. I came down, finally slept for like 3 hours and was never the same again. I'm still dealing with it today. I just can't snap out of it no matter what I do
