Terribly sad Fonteyn's last years were spent almost alone, and in poverty in Panama.
Most of her savings spent on caring for her paralysed husband who pre-deceased her.

Margot and Rudy's. Giselle and Romeo & Juliet. Is embarked in Ballet History.......the. Giselle musical score...one of the most beautiful. EVER........Spanish Dancing equally adoring on a different scale/medium

Her Giselle is a marvel of understatement-the love for Albrecht is there but no hysteria of passion, so subtle and so beautifully shown, sublime.

I don't know what it is, but there is an incandescence about Fonteyn, that I have not seen in any other dancer.

Note the back-bend in Giselle. NO-ONE and I mean no one executes it like Fonteyn always the unsupporting leg held at right angles with the supporting leg. That's technique for u!

I didn’t realise this growing up, reading Fonteyn’s autobiography, I only realised it decades later as an older, far more cynical and world-weary adult - Tito Arias was your typical cheating, lying scoundrel, a latter day pathological narcissist. Dame Margot possessed many shining qualities, but being a good judge of character was not one of them.
