To Maria - I have followed your professional saga from ABS-CBN reportages, the coverages of the Bali terrorist attack - to your recent admirable interview appearance on BBC's Hard Talk - to mention just a few. I wish I could meet you personally sometime in the future to thank you for giving us honor and pride for your being the "First Filipino Nobel Laureate" (and for Peace at that) - not the least being a fearless reporter-fighter for the wronged and an eloquent journalist par excellence. I have witnessed with envy how Myanmar's Aung San Soo Kyi and Pakistan's Malala obtained their own Nobels before the Philippines gets its own, and wondered how we could have so many international beauty pageant queens and Olympic medalists - without even one, most-coveted NOBEL awardee. And so now the long wait is over - because of YOU and all that you represent. My warmest best wishes and Congratulations!

Thanks for the upload. Long overdue recognition for Maria. Although the humble Ms. Ressa would probably say, "I'm just doing my job". Well, that may be true, but, Ms. Ressa, you are also an inspiration to the young, whom also believe in the same values as you and whom have had enough of totalitarian rule.

Powerful thoughts on journalists new realities in a technological age. "One works with, within and sometimes against a world pattern of systems to create change" was a sharing in my paper in 1984 for the World Congress of Anthropology. Maria's word on kindness "people who have nothing offer you what they have". During the financial crisis in the 1980's many journalists and writers lost their lives trying to write the truth. Political satire was the way I chose to write and be published. Today, we need to join efforts to free Julian Assange and make the goal of safety real.

Maria's comments on human will and algorithms have been a concern in recent years. Next time anyone visits Washington DC visit The Thomas Jefferson Memorial and what thought of his is carved in stone inside the Memorial.

She is correct. I hope that people listen carefully to what she is saying and re-evaluate their opinions on the security policies of the People's republic of China. Freedom of speech is an obsolete negative right. Positive freedoms, such as the right to correct information, are much more important today. We need governments to step in and protect us from misinformation. Maria thoughfully sees that journalists can be partners in that effort.

I think rappler deleted all negative comments on their RU-vid video on this particular speech. Dito lang Ako naka basa ng negative comments about her.
