First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and Maria Shriver, launched the first-ever White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research. This speech that Maria gave is from a recent event where the White House announced a $100 million commitment to women’s health research from the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), an agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Awesome news ! I studied menopausal women in 2005-2009 on my doctoral research and there was little money to study women’s health! Yes it’s about time ! And thank you to jill Biden and Maria shriever and all the others who worked on this initiative !

Bear with me! My watering hole was the Irish club and I hangout with tradies I eventually started talking to straight from Ireland lads they told me a bit about the Irish culture top of the mornin to ya laddy the North side hated the southside because the liers and lazy I had a couple of friends that I tagged along every Sunday morning early to trash and treasure markets last night I had a dream about being in the middle east markets and I cross paths with these dudes the same looking smartasses who trumps people about Jesus name Yeshua I know our Lord answer's to Jesus they were selling stuff I got quick advice to watch this guy he's no good I wanted to buy a belt he wanted top price I said I will give $1 no more he looked around his audience with a smirk and said to me ok

Great quote! I always thought JFK said that quote, not Ted. Otherwise, this is amazing initiative. it would be great if we did something similiar for healthcare workers who need healthcare themselves.

Certainly a good initiative. However, what about poor men? I live in Colorado and donate my time to volunteer activities. One is delivering meals on wheels. Do you know what the biggest problem my clients have? Bad teeth. They need soft food because they can't chew anything hard, like an apple. So, here I am looking at someone with perfect, white straight teeth talking about health. Be mindful of the poor, female and male.

There’s a huge difference in how women’s health is treated. All the research on drugs, for example, are conducted on men. There is another speech she made in the White House where she explains this. This is partly because women are more complicated due to hormonal shifts so researchers focus on men.

@@AR-gh1pc Once a drug is developed, it must go through clinical trials. Phase 1 usually involves 10's of people to test if it works, then phase 2 and 3 for safety. This is often done on prisoners, mostly men, to your point. I understand your position and agree with you. However, a bigger issue to me is providing healthcare to everyone, not just those who can afford it. True there are safety nets, like medicaid, but dental is a major hole in coverage. American is not a kind place if you are poor.
