Still 5 octaves after all these years ~ incredible!

This has to be her most vocally challenging album ever. She showcases her entire 5 octave range. Did you hear those crazy E7s in Supernatural? she harmonizes with a FREAKING HARP. there are so many octave unisons and riffs and ruffs.. she's a musical genius. Mariah is the Vocal Goddess.

This is possibly her best album since TEOM or even Butterfly, lyrically the album had AMAZING moments. Vocally? you can tell there are some autotuned vocals (on the belts only) but she did hit some AMAZING notes... when was the last time she hit an A5? The Charmbracelet Era? There are also some messy vocal moments, take Heavenly for example, belts all over the place. Melodically, this is one of her best albums (If not the best). There are some over-produced moments too, I'm not gonna lie. Overall, this album is beautiful and is an R&B masterpiece.

This is world is hard enough without random people expressing negative, destructive opinions on platforms where love and fandom ought to reign supreme. I love this album, I love her vocals, and I love her lyrics. Mariah brought Slayriah to the table to serve vocal domination to the masses. I have always appreciated Mariah's vocabulary, which, helped get me into a top notch liberal arts college. Don't hate, educate. Mariah is queen.

People are saying that she's using auto tune on her songs. Well, she's effing not. It might be layered, but she still husky and raspy (which I love, actually), and she still sounds HEAVENLY (😏). Therefore, people can keep their mouths closed and let Mariah, the Songbird Supreme, do her thang.

This album is for fans. It is not for critics. Critics love to pick at it, but when they pick at it long enough, they realize it is still vocal/writing ability/talent. What a realization for critics. Anything worth critiquing is worth listening to. 24 years later, the people who didn't like her music then still don't like it. What a surprise!.... So let them go back to indie funk rock grunge blah blah blah.... this music makes people happy. Especially me.

Her best body of work since The Emancipation. E=MC2 has worn out vocals and barely any belts above D5. And the whole Memoirs album was whispered with poorly written rushed songs. She took time on this album. She put soul and faith into this album (Supernatural, Heavenly) and beautiful mature vocals. Her belts up to Eb5 were so open and resonant and she was and had multiple upper belts. Not to mention her showcasing her lower register on this album a lot and as well as her falsetto and headvoice ABOVE G5, which also has not been done really since The Emancipation and her whistles, Melissa’s, riffs and runs, and harmonies were out of this world.

Btw, some of the notes remind of the Daydream, Butterfly, and somewhat of the Charmbraclet (with the more evident rasp) eras. But, she still sounds damn AWESOME. !!!!!!

Somehow Mariah, at age 44 and 17 years after her prime ENDED, managed to showcase 5 octaves, agility for YEARS, insane lows belts and managed to belt so high and whistle so low that the two registers overlap for G#5 andd A5 and people still say she can't sing anymore?

6:52 sounds like outside climax and 7:03 sounds like it could have been straight from Anytime you need a friend ! She is less consistent with age, but boy when she is in good vocal shape, she really destroys every female vocally. That’s a 40+ yo woman here !!!

I think that this album is probably her weakest besides E=MC2 lyrically (though there is something just great about the complete stupidity of 'Heat'). However, MUSICALLY and based on her performance vocally, then I would say this is her best since at least Charmbracelet, if not Butterfly or Daydream. For me, the lyrics are rarely a point of contention. I learned a long time ago that Mariah's lyrics can veer toward the vapid and silly (with the exception of parts of her first two albums). So, the quality of the musical writing (and the vocals) has to be the part I pay attention to the most. And I think that was spot-on through the whole album. Every song has a reason for being there, and the album flows without making it a blur of 40 minutes the same way Memoirs was. The harmonies were brilliant, Mariah obviously played around with the instruments and arrangements, and though the melisma was sometimes unnecessary, it felt balanced to the lack of melisma around it. Of course, she'll never be able to produce these vocals live (without getting her nodes removed), but she obviously put a lot of thought and time into presenting the best possible vocal the whole way through. Would this album sound 100x better if 90s Mariah took on the whole thing, simplified the lyrics, and belted A5s with no problems? Well, DUH. But we don't have 90s Mariah, we have the Mariah of today, and for that, she literally did the best job she could. For that, this is #2 on my list of favourite Mariah albums.

I can’t believe this album is underrated... Ugh just like Charmbracelet! Her vocals are so amazing here and in Charmbracelet too so why did these even flop?! Goodness.

I don't understand peoples point of view on Mariah's voice... If she's better than usual she manipulated the vocals? Just because someone is good doesn't mean it isn't really them.

I think this album is amazing. She is just doing what she loves...of course this isn't like her albums "Emotions", "Butterfly", "Daydream" ect...different times and different styles evolve and she strives to continually evolve with them. Give her some credit, if you're not a fan or don't like her...don't buy her albums and waste your precious time insulting her. Problem solved :-)

I was listening to her album on spotify and fell in love with Dedicated, You Don't Know What To Do, Meteorite, Thirsty, and Money. I consider myself new school since I am a Beyonce fan, but this album has both a new school and old school appeal to it. I think some of her fans are a little too harsh with the critiques. I hope the album gets the success it deserves

There's something that people CAN'T understand!!! This thing is that she is getting more and more old because she is an human. It's normal that her voice is not as powerful, higher and strong as it used to be. All her body is getting old and her throat too. The old mariah carey will NEVER comeback! I don't mind that this album had a lot of tuning and edit on her vocals, I'm just really frustrated when I listen to this album because it's so obvious! Especially when the verse is sung in two parts for example and then merged together. This album would have been a lot better if it had been 1/2 less produced, even if she maxes out on E5 or F5, it's enough and plenty high. I love that she didn't overproduce Caution, it was her voice with a little normal modulation, and it was beautiful and believable vocally.
