I’m shocked you didn’t know #beautiful. It was one of the biggest songs of 2013. It broke the record for most times a song was played on radio in a single day.
This was THE ALBUM the year we had our daughter. From the early months of pregnancy to when she was born and the first 2 years of her life. This was our car album. My wife has become a full on lamb at this point. This album special to us as a couple. MC is truly the soundtrack of my life from age 17 to now.
I still remember the moment I heard He Art Of Letting Go for the first time. It was a Facebook release and I played it on FB on repeat. Loved it so much.
I'm guessing caution is next then The rarities? Then the remixes? Because you have to do the remixes to truly understand why she is the Queen of remixes.
Remember many of the lyrics are directed to Nick (and their separation)....this is the separation album. I really like You don't know what to do, gives me I'm that chick vibes and get me in such good mood! I love the closing, the line "Go to Mimi on your contacts, Press DELETE"....genius!! And that final track, is for us the fans, so we really loved that one. Unpopular opinion: I love all covers by Mariah, except for this version of One more try. I hope we get a new album this year, it's been 6 years already (already OMG) since Caution, which I loved: GTFO, With you, Caution, A no no, Giving me life, and Portrait. You will love those! Thanks for sharing.
There was so much turmoil happening in Mariah’s life at this time, and truly a lot of the reason this album was delayed is because she was not ready for people to know the divorce was coming. I mean as soon as we lambs heard it, we knew the divorce was happening, however this is easily her most personal album since butterfly. This album fully tells a story of her marriage and life at the time, you really have to listen the lyrics. It’s a masterpiece.
I remember the photo they took of her out to lunch w someone the week after the album dropped and she just looked sad like “it’s over and where do i go?”
In another release of the album somewhere, she put 'America The Beautiful'' instead of the spoken outro. And the studio version of America... is amazing.
Another album I feel not enough people had a true appreciation for. Non-vocalists do not have an inkling of a clue how difficult Mariah's songs are with the runs, riffs, key changes, hitting 3 different octaves in a single lyric, multilayering her own harmonies, and the list goes on. One More Try- flawless cover, Nostalgia Ln back to 7th grade, Camouflage is otherworldly taking you to a place that belngs only to you, The Art of Letting Go.... Deeeep cut that's empowering and the elongated belting with a clarity that resonates from her own space of vulnerability from heartbreak and betrayal.... I love revisiting her albums and the little moments that i realize i havent heard a particular song in a hot minute & I find myself right back in the same ecatatic moment and emotion as the first time I heard it. Good stuff Trey, good stuff!! I'd like to see your reaction to some AI covers actually. 2 in particular which are Mariah Carey-Only One Road (2003) and a Tamia song, If I were You Btw, your reaction to Art of Letting Go... is everything! And a true testament to the raw power and vocal influence Mariah still has. Thank you for another great vid.
Best reaction ever!! MIAM deserves so much more love! This album is a hidden gem and so deserved to go platinum or even gold in these times. Gone are the days….of albums selling. Mariah is an album legend!
I bought this album and bought a few bottles of bubbly. I told my mom to come float with me in the pool and tan while we sip and listen. Midway through, I got off my floatie and said to my mom, “She is about to leave Nick!” Lol😂
A friend used “You Don’t Know What To Do” in his instagram story several months ago and that’s how I “discovered” it. He told me not to feel badly because most people slept on it and missed out. I had “Camouflage” on repeat for DAYS! This is my favorite album of her’s since “Emancipation”.
I became a Mariah fan when I watched her in American Idol an then started to listen her songs. This album was the first to be released after I was a fan. I really liked it, but other people were so negative about it. Over the years I kinda forgot about it cause have my favorites but watching your review reminded me of how good this album actualy is.
Another great reaction. It is such a shame that this album is so slept on. It definitely deserves more respect. Maybe Thirsty can get revived on tiktok like some of her other songs have. I know I have said it before, but when you listen to Caution, please add the track Runway which was only on Japanese version and then later quietly released here. And when you listen to a No-No listen to the music video version, she just added a tiny bit at the end, but that tiny bit needs to be heard.
@@whitepaper5241 yeah. Was that the second remix. The second one was better than the first. But I wasn't referring to the remixes. Just the version of the song from the music video because she added the whistles at the end in the video.
Another great reaction! I'm a huge Lamb, and as many times as I've listened to all of these albums that you've reacted to, I notice things I hadn't noticed before whenever you offer your perspective. Keep it up!
"All hail and bow to Mariah Carey, The Queen of Divas, Protector of the vocal skills from the realm, Archiduchess of Vocal range/registers, Empress of agility, The unmatched, The Mellisma mother, The Goddess of Songwriting and producing, The one often imitated, but never duplicated, The embodiment of pure success",. My simpleton ears are not worthy of your talent but a simple sung phrase will be enough to heal me for all eternity.
Favorites: Cry, Dedicated, You're Mine, Money, One More Try, The Art of Letting Go. This album was delayed I believe, not sure why but I have some thoughts on it. Triumphant came out in 2012 and was, I think, supposed to be the first single, but her team never came outright and said it was. That song bombed, so I think they were trying to get a feel of what the album was going to do. Then The Art of Letting Go was released as a single and also flopped. So they delayed the album while they came up with a new campaign and song to be the first single, which was Beautiful. Wise choice, because that song became a top 20 hit. But still the album underperformed. Not one of her best albums, but it has some good stuff on it.
thank you for creating these videos. I feel like im having a slumber party because you are honest, fun, and the friend i need right now. I am a huge lamb and I look forward to your post's. Imjcurrently in a health an welness rehab after a THANKFUL FAILD SUICICIDE ATTEMPT. Thank god above. but your vidieos really help. Hearts and love!!!!❤🧡💛💚💙💜
I love your journey through Mariahs discography!!!! I happen to love all of her albums for different reasons. I was alive for each of her album releases and can remember specific times in my life that each album represents for me. I know a lot of Lambs don’t really care for the vocal production on the album and felt it had a less natural sound. Other than that I haven’t really heard about the songs themselves. I am excited to see your reaction to Caution. There are some great songs that are really new sounding and some that have a nostalgic feeling. I think you’ll really enjoy it!!!
Such a great album. 2 things: I can’t believe you left off the second half of "Heavenly (No Ways Tired / Can't Give Up Now)" cuz it’s amazing! You should listen to "Betcha Gon' Know" (I hear ya) cuz I can’t believe there wasn’t an accompanying black and white animation video with drops of color throughout like when MC says… Though the lights were low I could see you both In a lover's silhouette And my heart stood still I was froze right there Staring down at her red dress I can seriously direct the video in my head 😂
Tre, I love your personality and expressions reacting to Mariah’s songs! Your emotions are as great as the songs! Stevie Wonder comments made me laugh. You could have played Jack on Will and Grace! ❤
Talk about Thirsty! It came out as a tease track for the album and felt very personal, but at the time she had barely started to leave Nick, or at least us fans didn't know much about their split. So many cuts from the album feels personal and deeply emotional, and yes, angry. Mariah channeling her life experiences is her best!
Someone had a theory that the track list could also be interpreted in reverse with Cry. being the “last”track. Puts a very different spin on the album, especially in light of the impending divorce.
I love how you love and enjoy Mariahs music as I do!!! And you love to sing like I do, so I bet we would get a long well!!! You crack me up!! 😂😂😂 But I have to say: Stalkers, I know "Beautiful" is with a guy named Miguel and I know Miguel means Michael!!! Hey now, I am not saying with liking this song that I think the stalker Michaels are beautiful!!! No, no, no... Not any song I am liking is about my stalkers... Stop this Bullshit!!
If you LOVE You're Mine (Eternal), you should hear a 90s remix of the song! It's even MORE fire!!!!!!!! ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥 I listen to both versions regularly, but I LOVE the 90s remix. Since you love "It's A Wrap", then you should listen to the official sped up version on Mariah's RU-vid channel. The sped up version, don't ask me how, is EVEN BETTER than the original version!
The fact that Mariah could sing this with her broken shoulder/arm is astounding and we all know Mariah has to sing with her hands and arms. 😂 I'm glad she has healed well since then tho. ❤
This is a very underrated and often overlooked album. It incorporates a lil bit of everything from different places. It shouldn't work ,but I guess music didn't get the memo that Mariah was doing it anyway 🤭🤭😂. I'm not that big on Money w/Fab (btw Fugazz more commonly used here in the Northeast, especially NYC area) The one track that has stuck w/me the most is , Heavenly/No Ways Tired. If you even get a chance to Look up Mariah singing, You & I , by Stevie W, to Stevie W ,Live
I really like this album but I think the production is kinda wild in some of the songs 😭 it just felt like so many things at once. I prefer the way Caution was produced. But soooo many bops.
