don't hate on me guys but it sounds like ariana just doing really high notes and mariah is actually doing a whistle...that's why Mariah's voice sounds softer and more angelic
Y’all do realize that even if they put both of their studio versions Mariah would still win right? She has a soulful voice and a powerful voice in emotions you can listen to emotions acapella by Mariah to hear what I’m talking about

Mariah definetly. Ariana might be doing it higher and louder(yes i know audio quality is better for Ariana) but Mariah makes more of a whistle noise and its stronger and more confident.
Jisoo Christ it’s clear dat ariana edit it .her voice is cloudy and unnatural(that’s autotune) also has no vibrato at all (identity of falsetto) while mariah is sharp , clear and vibrating up to C#7
funny part is Arianas version is studio where she can practice many takes and Mariah did it live one take. and the best part is this is same age comparison compared when Ariana fans post Mariah vs Ariana when Mariah is now and Ariana at her age vs Mariah Ariana sam age comparison...
I choose both of them because they have the best high notes I ever heard but Mariah Carey is great but my sister prefers Ariana Grande and I agree with my sister because she loves Ariana Grande and I do to. But I prefer both of them and it doesn't matter who are has a better high note its what they do and perform at the same time that's all I can say. Love you Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande!
What was I thinking when I thought to look in the comments for some actual valid discussion with good arguments to back up one's pick on who's the best? *sigh* I respect the right to have different opinions, but I do not care for all the hate and mean comments. So I'll give my own neutral opinion. I think Mariah is better and has better range and control of her whistles, but I also think that Ariana's whistle notes sound a little clearer, less airy if that makes sence. (And yes, I also count live performances). Ariana has a video where she shows that she actually can make whistle notes, so no, her notes are not fake. She also says that she doesn't have too much control over them, and she literally says herself that Mariah is better.
I love both of these insanely beautifully talented women. Their vocal range is not that different. Mariah has one vocal range higher than Ariana. I heard they have a fued. That's sad if it is true. I would love a duet with them both because they both have an insane talent, but they both have a different style. That's okay though because everyone is different one way or another. Like this if you would love to hear a duet with the two beautiful talented women.😁
prxncessjeaa how did Mariah have way more experience when she was younger than Ariana in this clip? If anything Ariana should’ve had more experience in her clip than Mariah in hers considering Ariana was older in her clip.

Which proves my point that Mariah Carey has more experience with whistle notes than Ariana Grande. Mariah Carey has 29 years of experience while Ariana Grande has 10, a reasonable difference.
honestly both are good ! But dont come hating on me but i felt like mariah kinda messed up for a slight second and just for that split second ariana won But if she did not mess up for that split second i would have choosen mariah!
Don’t even bother comparing-all industry professionals know Mariah has 5 octaves. Ariana has 4. And if you were to compare, it should be both girls at the same age, not a young Ariana and a 48 year old Mariah as it’s common sense your vocals change as you get older.
They are both technically great singers, but Mariah has soul in her voice and the runs and riffs she chooses. Ariana is kind of like a watered down version of Mariah in her prime.

I'm a fan of both because they are both talented, but it kinda sounds like Ariana is just hitting a high note and not doing a whistle, while Mariah's sounds softer and lighter, like a whistle tone should be.
