I'd have never immagined these two singing together, as I know them from very different operatic styles! I love this performance, both voices blend so well together! Makes me want to listen to them both in, for example, Pergolesi's Stabat Mater...
This is wonderful - orchestra fabulous and both singers provide a beautiful flawless performance. What a shame it doesn't seem to be on itunes!?! I love Nathalie's voice but have never come across Mariella before - what a shame as she sings with such ease!
You are entitled to your opinion. One cannot please everybody. That is called personal taste. My opinion however doesn't change because of your dislike. Stuttzmann has a stunning voice. Even at her older age now she can hardly be bested. I don't think I am alone in that opinion. A very rare type of voice that fills all the registers in her medium with all the power and emotional nuances required on an operatic stage.
Absolument superbe. Deux cantatrices d'exception. Il y a déjà 25 ans! C'est formidable. Tout le talent de Nathalie Stutzmann est déjà bien présent, éblouissant et sa partenaire n'est pas moins talentueuse. Comme cela nous change de tant d'autres cantatrice que l'on hisse au pinacle bien qu'elles soient tellement moins talentueuses. Parfois, n'ont qu'un tout petit filet de voix, inexpressives, ....
I question if Mariella Devia tried more baroque roles in the past, i heard a recording of some cleopatra arias and she’s really amazing. I know Nathalie rocked the Baroque repertoire.
Beautiful blend of voices; did Devia sing much Baroque repertoire? I know Stutzmann did (she sang practically everything, and beautifully), if Devia didn't, she should have, she's terrific.

J'ai écouté une merveilleuse composition musicale interprétée par Maria Devia et Natalie Stutzman, et dans mes pensées sur les chanteurs, les acteurs et les actrices, purs dans l'âme et le style de vie, comme des anges, il y avait un dicton: "Ils ne sont pas de la merde", et après un quelques secondes j'ai entendu un être hétérosexuel ou homosexuel vulgaire: «Tu es toi-même vulgaire.» J'ai répondu dans les mêmes pensées: «tu es vulgaire, pas nous», et déjà en anglais rétorquait «tais-toi, une créature déraisonnable qui ne se sentira jamais mes sentiments. »Cette créature, insatisfaite de son esprit limité, a de nouveau réagi à mes conseils, car cette créature ne comprend pas qu'il se dispute avec une personne qui a une oreille merveilleuse pour la musique et a vu comment nous sommes tous nés et comment nous mourons. Par conséquent, vous avez besoin de lire plus, et pas moi, sinon vous deviendrez une créature insensible. does anyone know where and when this was recorded? The blend of the voices superb, though I have to admit with handel that after about 10 min I find myself wanting Donizetti, Bellini, Rossini!
and she sang like a lady, she followed the "Zeitgeist" switched over to a first class counter tenor. She lost the beautiful brilliance. The overtone spectrum became muddy, that is requested today...🙁
She can still sing like a lady and does with great tenderness but many of her roles are trouser or extremely passionate which means she has to drop the lady. I enjoy the versatility. I really liked the recording of her doing KURT Weills Youkali . And the Schubert song cycles are excellent. Des Baches Wiegenlied is superb. Very tender
As gorgeous as this is, she said in an interview the baroque repertoire doesn't mean anything to her.... I don't think she could have done much with it anyways. She's too much of a Bel Canto voice.. Mozart is already a bit stretch.. as far as my taste goes..
... And yet, if it were just the sound and no vid, no one would guess; their voices blend magnifiquely and their interpretation is very well balanced, wich is the main consideration. Connection in music is through the ears I would guess.

@@frogmouth That's totally absurd, I love all good singers, from bass to soprano, and I'm very fond of baroque. It's not at all my fault if these people don't even bother to sing properly.
I SO WISH they had recorded the entire Rodelinda. And Giulio Cesare. Alcina. Ariodante. Okay, Ruggiero and Ariodante may be too high for la Stutzmann. But even as Bradamante and Polinesso, she would’ve been GREAT. I recently met Maestro Stutzmann in person, at the Met , after her Don Giovanni. That makes wonder: just how PETITE la Devia really IS?! (Unfortunately I’ve never seen her in person. STILL, one of my VERY FAVORITE DIVAS!!!)
