There is no other band remotely like Marillion. The unique combination of musicians with Steve Hogarth at the helm.... there are no words to describe!!!
Every big band performs extraordinary! But each of them is unique and you can't compare it with other band, just like that. Marillion is unique, just like Pink Floyd or Genesis are... And for me they are all "Monuments of Greatness" in every song they write or perform, every album they record for us. There are much more bands, many of them very underrated, but also magnificent. I feel gifted that I can celebrate greatness of beautiful music of Marillion with Fish and Marillion with H with the same joy and happiness! Just like Pink Floyd, or Camel, Genesis or even solo projects of Roger Waters, Steve Hackett, Peter Gabriel, or Fish... I do not feel qualified to compare anyone with anyone... In my opinion, saying that Marillion with Fish is better than with H or vice versa is very offensive and unfair for whole band because they are one and only, each lineup made different, unique and astonishing records. Deepness, kindness and many different feelings contained in each note they play, is so big, that It has left its mark on our life, touches my heart and make me so happy and blessed... I am very thankful to my parents for having shown me how to understand and feel this hidden magic in great music. This magic sometimes releases smile on my face, sometimes brings tears.. But always makes me happy, free and leaves a smoldering spark in my heart. This spark smolders in me and gives me strength for every single day. Music is my life!
Listen to all the background sounds, voices, noises, little details that tell a story. It's simply amazing how you can picture it with the voice of H. I remember seeing the brave tour in France. There's almost no word. If this is music then all the rest is noise. Simply brilliant and unmatched.
Every time I hear him sing it gives me goosebumps... Especially when he sings the part 'She aches'...My God!!! I always take a deep breath before he sings that part...
Fish is a great songwriter, Steve is a great songwriter, musician and singer. The musical difference in direction Marillion took post Fish has been amazing. Love Hogarth. He's the spirit of Marillion
best band in the world, I feel so good listening to them, so thankful for every concert i´ve been to. Memories for life. I'm going through alot right now and marillion saves me somehow. love you guys.
What a beautiful song,I've had the immense audible pleasure of this song "live" a few times and it's an absolute classic in my opinion. The whole album is fantastic!! Pure master-piece.
H can really show off his vocal range on this song. Saw this show live twice first time round. Guildford Civic hall and The Forum Kentish Town. Beautiful.
Saw this in montreal and it just blew my mind.If anyone is a fan of this band I suggest not missing them if they come aroun I travelled 3 tousand miles and it was the highlight of my year!
Agreed. I will maintain to my grave that if people tune in only 1 era or another (or tune out for you glass half empty people), they are missing out on some truly amazing music. Listen to it all, appreciate it for the grandeur that it all is, and live and let live. ;)
Wow! Brave is still such a strong album and this is a great rendering of a powerful song! As always completely struck by the power and emotion of H's voice and delivery!
Courted my wife to this album when it first came out. An intense and beautiful time with a soundtrack to match. Saw their Brave tour gig at Colston Hall Bristol. Live changing night!
voce meravigliosa... ho sempre i brividi quando lo sento cantare... per me BRAVE è un disco meraviglioso... dal primo all'ultimo secondo... Marillion RULES!!!
That‘s amazing. I wanted to write exactly the same: This is art. It touches me so deep in my art, that I could cry each time I hear it. Although, I do not know the girl from the bridge.
bottled fecking lightening, if this band ever went back to mainstream they would in my view be recognised as the greatest band in the world or one of em. and no i dont want comments of purists tellin me they should stay where they are they belong to us and all that bull. millions worldwide are missing out on this genius. i show people marillion music now and they are stunned that they buy all their albums.
I remember hearing this for the first time. It was Toad's Place in New Haven, CT. I didn't have the CD yet...When they played this I got a lump in my throat...So much emotion from this band. They are just absolutely F'ing brilliant.
