I love how candid he is about his own life and the undertones of this song ...his vulnerability in his lyrics and music help me, and a lot of others, I am sure. One of the best songs in the history of music!

This is one of the best pieces of music ever written, and like all of the best, is timeless.

Marillion has find the best sentence to describe their music : "A better way of life". Your whole work of art is a source of inspiration, motivation, and admiration for the fans. Please, keep on bringing such incredible songs, full of meanings. Thanks!

Marillion is an awesome force in the music world, I'm so glad my 9yo son enjoys their music. Steve Hogarth and the rest of Marillion are a God-send. We are lucky to have them. I just saw Marillion for the first time live in Chicago, and it was worth every penny! I had to drive 9 hours, spent $300 lodging, had to buy $8 beers/drinks, and eat $10 sandwiches, and fight like mad for parking (thankfully I don't live in Chicago!)

“i don’t get rap music. Maybe it’s because I’m too much of a musician.” Amen brother. I don’t get it either. I’m a musician and middle aged too. Lol.

Haha. And everyone in the video there is moving about around him as he's sitting there, really adds an extra sense of poignancy to what he's saying. Esspecially if you watch it all sped up (draggin the pointer thing). That's accidental brilliance that is. Does anyone else get the feeling after listening to him talk that they've just been told a series of incredible truths that you've known all along and that everything makes much more sense now?

allconsuminghat He seems able to summise everything perfectly. Like in Neverland with "I want to be someone someone would want to be"

twenty years so far , alive and kicking. Producing meaningful true music. Let´s see what these hiphop terrible guys are doing next year. Nothing but degradating women, music and themselves at the same time.

'I am rambling a bit, but that's my job.' Love it. I was checking out Kate Bush's The Man with the Child in his Eyes, and found out thats Steve does it live, because I am doing a show on 70s music and was wondering if a man could sing this song, but he does and does it well. So, yeah, thanks for this interview, always important to see how other songwriters are writing and where inspiration comes from. And I totally agree with him on his opinion about rap. 'It's just rhythm and no tune!'

What a PERFECT analysis of the state of the human race. We CAN do something, we can STOP doing what goverments tell us and ignore the lies in the press and embrace eachother as Brothers and Sisters. Give love, and it will come back 10 fold. Treat others as you would wish to be treated and TAKE ACTION, stand up, fight the bureaucrats and we, as humans will eveolve into a species far greater than the sum of the parts. PEACE all. X

Totally agree about globalisation, we have to care about way too much. We're more comfy in mini worlds called community! Thank you for the insight into a most extraordinary masterpiece!

Maybe I’m just in the mood for it tonight, but Invisible Man has meaning for me, and I think for everyone, eventually. Occasionally I like a bit of rap, too - if I’m in the mood :-)

It's his opinion of rap and guess what, he's entitled to it whether you agree or not. He's talking about getting older and things changing.

Maybe it's because you know how to write music and not junk that idiots find easy to fall in to. Steve, you blow me away, your lyrics are awsome, I'm part of it. Mark.

My buddy says he likes rap because it's energetic and he's an energetic person, but the rap he's shown me is so emotionless and bored-sounding. The rappers sound like they're just waking up and recording this.
