She's tall, thin, gorgeous and has one of the most astonishing singing voices ever heard. She's also really smart. Both her parents were doctors, as was her grandfather. I think her parents forgave her for not following their lead into medicine when she became a household name. My favorite song from her is "If I Could Reach You". Amazing. An amazing beauty.

This beautiful performance of "One Less Bell To Answer" was from the 1981-1982 season of the popular syndicated weekly music countdown television show, which was the first of many seasons that Marilyn McCoo was either host or co-host. Besides some of her own songs, she would sing cover songs from music of the 1980s. The original of this song by Marilyn McCoo was as part of The Fifth Dimension in 1970. It was first performed by Keely Smith in 1967, but the Marilyn McCoo version as part of The Fifth Dimension became the standard. The Burt Bacharach-Hal David song was recorded by their most common muse, Dionne Warwick, in 1972 and many others since as well.

She is performing in January 2020 in Palm Desert at the McCallum Theatre.

The song "One Less Bell To Answer" was originally performed by the late Keely Smith in 1967. The Fifth Dimension version, fronted by Marilyn McCoo, is actually the most popular version and the Keely Smith version was very good as well. The Fifth Dimension version was released in 1970. By the way, Marilyn McCoo has an older sister, Glenda Wina, who in the 1970s and 1980s, was well-known in Los Angeles television news, first as having her own talk show on the CBS-TV affiliate, Channel 2, which was then KNXT-TV, changed in 1984 to KCBS TV. Her talk show was called "Noontime". Later on, she was their health and medicine reporter. She later became a local political aide. Marilyn McCoo mentions her famous sister in her own autobiography, written with former bandmate and husband since 1969, Billy Davis Jr. The book was released in 2004. It comes with a compact disc that features some songs not found on many other albums currently available. Some of the early hits of Whitney Houston were originally performed by Marilyn McCoo. Many songs become cover songs over time. In a 2013 PBS television special on Burt Bacharach, Marilyn performed the song during a PBS pledge drive and said that she liked torch songs and that this was an ultimate torch song. The syndicated television series, "Solid Gold", in the 1980s, gave Marilyn McCoo a chance to perform many genres of music, some her own, such as this performance, and others that were often pop and rock songs of the 1980s era. She has released Christian music albums since the early 1990s. In 2021, she released, along with Billy Davis Jr., an album of duets called "Blackbird", their first album of new music for them in over 30 years. She is currently 79 and he is 84 and they look and sound much younger than that.
