Audio of Interview with James Haspiel in the early 1990s about his new book on Marilyn at the time called "Marilyn: The Ultimate Look at the Legend" James was a friend and fan of Marilyn.
I have often read about Jimmy and his presence in Marilyn's life in many books. So glad to finally hear him and see this footage and know that he has a book which cannot be interrupted by an ignorant, biased interviewer which breaks every rule about conducting an interview.
The strength that James had during this interview to keep his composure is very honorable...bc I would have cussed that interviewer out, she was so ignorant and rude! I don’t know who that interviewer was but she did a terrible job, constantly interrupting him to say some dumb opinion. So aggregating to see people like that deny HARD EVIDENCE. Absolutely perplexing. Hats off to James Haspiel and his incredible work!
The interviewer was loud and obnoxious and kept on interrupting Jame's, the man who really knew, Marilyn. I will have to get this book and learn and read more. LOVE Marilyn ! Marilyn, For Ever !
Wow! How incredibly rude of this interviewer!! What is wrong with you? This here is a true genuine man whom had a true friendship with this beautiful lady...this is true honest testimony..and you just treat him so rude...how dare you? And to the respectful gentleman talking about his friendship with Marilyn, thank you so much for sharing 💗 What a beautiful thing to share! 💗
I recently found his book at a flea market here in Mobile, AL and it is definitely more of an eye opener to how Marilyn really was in daily life. SUCH a wonderful read and a staple in any Marilyn Book collection.
James, Thank you so much for sharing your Marilyn with us. This is a priceless interview that I rate up there with the best of them about Marilyn. The love and admiration you feel for her pours through and you can feel it. I don't know who was interviewing you James but he was just too much. It's strange that it doesn't say who was interviewing you in the description. I'm glad that you pushed to get your perspective and opinion across to the viewers. Just a great Marilyn friend providing a glimpse into their treasured relationship. Most of all thank you James. Marilyn's inner circle of people who she loved and really trusted was small and it's sad to say she was hurt so often by people she trusted most. I'm so glad she had a special friendship with you because you sound like a great guy. This is a real rare treat for all us die hard Marilyn fans. At times I felt she was talking through you. Thanks again for sharing this with us.
Kathy Brenneman Says interviewer is Skip E. Lowe, a man...I have seen him interview others when much older...similar lady’s voice, but not such an ass.
I am so lucky to have managed to obtain James' book and had no idea this interview existed. The book is a lovely companion with the most beautiful photos. Very highly recommended to all Marilyn fans. ⭐
This is a wonderful addition to the information about Marilyn Monroe and from a reliable source. I've never heard this before and I very much appreciate the opportunity to do so. Thank you so much for sharing.
LOve this , the book was so fun to read. Marilyn was nice to her fans a real down to earth soul. I love the excitement of the story, a bit like the Beatles hard days night, all these kids trying to meet with Marilyn. Jimmy becomes a true friend, its an amazing story. The guy doing the interview is a bit annoying. I agree with James that she was killed.
It's something called privacy. Most likely Jimmy did not want the public to see the pictures as they were his personal photos. Marilyn does not belong to you. She doesn't belong to anyone, but herself.
What a nice guy. I'm with Jim, I didn't know she'd just been offered a Vegas contract, but you don't commit suicide when you've just been rehired for 1 million dollars to Something's Got to Give, you've told friends you're going to remarry your ex & you have a plan to cut right back on films & do stage work . Transcripts of Dr Greenson's therapy tapes show she was actively planning her future in the book 'Victim' . Bobby was seen arriving at her home that day by her neighbours at 2.30 & again at 9.30, then nearby at 11.45 by a cop who stopped him for speeding (Lawford & Dr Greenson were in the car also).
I think suicide has probably been ruled out . An accidental death might have happened , because she told her house keeper ( I believe ) that she was to help her not take too many pills . It was easy to forget with how many she had to take. In a disheveled state, she may have forgotten she had already taken them, and took a double dose. Many of her friends think it was an accident .
Dr. Greenson makes my skin crawl and always has... Creepy! So was the "housekeeper" he placed inside Marilyn's home to spy. Pat Newcomb seems to have been strategically placed, as well. Looks like Greenson was reporting to the Kennedys, too... He was billing the heII out of Marilyn as I've seen invoices. Staggering bills. ALSO, Greenson told a colleague that he realized was sexually attracted to Marilyn. So inappropriate! Also, JFK was an oversexed cad and scoundrel. Deflowered an intern on his marriage bed while Jackie was in the Hamptons with the children. Secret Service were used to looking the other way. Even oversexed Papa Joe commented on his son's excessive philandering. The theory is the hormones JFK took to counter his Addison's Disease (no excuse) increased his sex drive. This intern spilled the beans and write about all kinds of things INCLUDING oral.
This is not a woman conducting the interview. It is Skip E. Lowe. He was lousy at interviews and starred in a pubic access show on L.A. TV for years. People watched because it was always unintentionally funny. He was an egomaniac who always had to be the star of his of his interviews.
I love how she took the time to find out his name to find out who this boy was. She was just beautiful. Cool guy. What wonderful stories and memories he must possess. 👍
The Liars try to make her seem pill addled, but she was obviously not because she clearly had her wits about her. Jimmy seems like a very honest and genuine mensch.
Such a wonderful 👏 ❤ interview. What a super great person and interview. Thank you 😊 so much!!! You can tell this guy is so honest!!! Lots ❤ of LUV mm 😋 😍 💗
Hey interviewer, I have also never understood the fascination with celebrities... But Marilyn is not a celebrity, she's an angel. And the interviewer completely misunderstands what it means to have a childlike quality... This quality is what made her an angel. I'm tired of people thinking she needed saving. She needed to love herself- she doesn't need you to save her. She is a powerful woman. Don't dim her light.
MY GOD! WHY won’t that woman SHUT UP!! That is maddening. She asks a question and WILL NOT let him answer, and we are dying to hear what he is trying to say!!
Why ask a question and then talk over him! Grrrrr..... Great interview otherwise, I love hearing Jimmy talk about his time with Norma Jean! Im yet to read his books too, cant wait! "If anyone really knew her, this guy really knew her" - the interviewer states at the beginning, and proceeds, believing everything he says apart from the 'crime of passion' part at the end, and shuts him down. Typical. Great to hear his view on her final days and death. Thank you for uploading this! xo
Coincidentally I recently acquired James' book -- a bit late, I must admit -- and found it to be a fascinating insight into the real woman. I totally agree with Mr. Haspiel's assessment of what happened to Marilyn and I don't say that lightly. I have studied this intently for years. The outright LIES that were told after her death succeeded in portraying her as the victim of suicide when there is massive, irrefutable evidence to the contrary. Even today the commonly held belief is that she killed herself. There are people still alive who know the truth (like her publicist who fled the scene and was photographed on JFK's boat 4 days after the funeral) and a high ranking police official in LA. They have kept their silence and it is a disgrace. The half-baked books that have been written have gotten it wrong too. Amazing that the woman interviewing James kept refusing to accept the fact Marilyn was murdered and then apparently cut him off. The coverup continues.
The interviewer is a man, Skip E. Lowe. I've watched a lot of interviews by him and he always did that. It's like he has no interest whatsoever in what the interviewee has to say. Either way, I've always been mesmerized by her and the kind of person almost everyone says she was, a kind and captivating soul. She was definitely used and manipulated but I still try to focus more on the way she lived and not the way she died, as intriguing and weird that story may be.
@@ellemathews9840 Patricia (Pat) Newcomb. Interesting woman. She was with Marilyn much of the time, including the day Marilyn died. She also refused to cooperate with authorities, claimed she only found out about M's death when she was called at 4 a.m. at home, but witnesses placed her at the scene prior to midnight when Marilyn died. Most suspicious of all is she fled the scene and was photographed four days after Monroe's funeral on a boat with President John Kennedy. She then went on an extended tour of Europe, thereby being unavailable for questioning. Upon her return to the states -- surprise! -- she got a job in Washington near Bobby Kennedy. Of course you know RFK showed up unannounced at Marilyn's home hours before she died. He had been having an affair with her that is well documented, despite the Kennedy protectors, and LA police subsequently confirmed that he WAS in town at the time. Word had leaked and appeared in the press the day before about RFK and MM, and he was coming there to break up with her. Pat Newcomb was said to be in love with Bobby and she DID admit to having dinner with him a few nights before Marilyn died. FYI, declassified government files establish that Marilyn was under surveillance through electronic eavesdropping installed inside her home, as confirmed also by the subsequent owner of the home who found evidence of the wiretaps.
Larry Jordan wow! I had heard that about the publicist, but not that Marilyn’s place had been bugged! Thank you! Also, the car carrying Lawford & Bobby or the Dr. Was stopped by a cop for speeding (to an airport.).
@@cynthiaennis3107 Dean Martin's wife, who knew Pat and Marilyn, said Pat was in love with Bobby and obviously she knew that MM was involved with him too. One of the members of the so-called Suicide Investigation team (set up as a diversion from the start) said that Newcomb "stonewalled" him and she was not forthcoming with important answers. Nor was Peter Lawford, who avoided questioning for 13 years. Housekeeper Eunice Murray told contradictory accounts and even the police that night noted in their files she was "evasive" (their word).
She was gonna give a press conference 3 days after th Aug 2....sh3 was also ready to say th truth about th president of th US...what a coincidence! She had a lot to live for...as electric as she was..lover of surprises..who feared not public opinion...and her private life belonged toth nation? She was looking forward to monday...
I hate that little worm interviewer Skip E. Lowe. He constantly interrupts, constantly derails the conversation, constantly tries to FORCE his beliefs. He speaks of other's he's interviewed about Marilyn, and he did the same thing to them when the subject of her death comes up. Here he has the ultimate expert on Marilyn Monroe, and he dances around trying to force him to tell other than the truth. Kuddos to James Haspiel. It's almost been 60 year's, can we finally call the Kennedy's what they are?
Jimmy is great, but thumbs down for Skip E. Lowe who could not allow this interview to be enjoyable. Skip was probably a friend of the Kennedy’s, who knows.
Wonderful video except for the interviewer who keeps interrupting James. I also believe Marilyn was murdered. She was in the way and knew too much about the Kennedy's. Miss you so much Marilyn. Xxxxx
Does anyone else really dislike the interviewer. She keeps pressing her own opinion on who marilyn was and what happened the night she died and she wont accept what is being said to her. It annoyed me. But anyway lovely to see yet another person who talks so highly of marylin. Lovely pictures too and leaving it untouched was perfect. 😊
Such a great fan and a friend of nice company that James proved to be. James can sense the damage of human exploitation done out of greed, covet, cover up of untruth, and outlaws of unprofessional conducts. Such sadism done by wicked minded beings so insensitive and so cold heart in being tramplers. Really unfortunate that excellent pertinent professional standards were not established as it should have been back then. More likely there were more than one wicked schemer who plotted out such an infliction like the cold note left so blatantly by Arthur Miller just after the wedding. Kind of like having a "Jekyl and HIde" person around. There are imposters like those also. Marilyn was not accorded what she deserved (like sales bonus money, etc)...a clue to tactics of disenfranchisement. Such sadism inflicts badly as crooks always do. Keep up the good works James Haspiel.
14:44 What does James Haspiel say? I got '..by the Presidents brother..' & was about to finish saying something. shame the interviewer interrupted and didn't let him finish.
i guess she will love to meet with me i 'm her greatest fan since i were 6 years old,i collect more than thousands of her picture, just to get one of her picture i did peoples pages of homework.
That’s why scares me so much to fall for a man who has a daughter already, I will never be loved so much as the love he has for his daughter and even if we had a daughter together I will always come second to him the wife becomes second when a couple have a daughter 😢
I think there was incest. A man can love different people in different ways. Love for a child from a parent. Love for a brother. Love for a marriage partner or lover. Love for a neighbor. BUT Arthur Miller wrote on that notepad that his DAUGHTER was the only WOMAN he'll ever love. Really?? His daughter was 12 at the time! WOMAN?! Disgusting! THEN he wrote he wished there was a honorable way he could die. That tells you everything. Incest. I think he abused that little girl.
Thanks James for all the wonderful things you said about Marilyn. But -- WHERE is the this voice activated 42 minute recording you refer to? Who has this recording (if it exists)?
@@cynthiaennis3107 thanks Cynthia for your responses. I hope you will check out my new dramatic podcast series about Marilyn at www.behindtheicon.com You can listen from the site or your favorite podcast app.
Wow hear that interviewer man, pushing she killed herself, and shoving words into his mouth. It’s now widely known the Kennedy brothers killed her in a attempt to cover up her affair with JFK and to keep her from going public with the story which would put the country in obvious chaos. She was too much of a fighter to take her own life and for someone to try and take that from her, is just disgusting. Unlike all those sad nolivers who tried to take her down time after time she will be remembered for the rest of time for thats what true talent deserves. Rip Marilyn 🌹
No such thing is widely known. She suffered from extreme anxiety and bouts of depression. She attempted suicide twice before. Pills were her modus operandi. She was in such a bad state the day she died her doctor asked her housekeeper to stay the night to keep her company. She said some very cryptic things to Peter Lawford perhaps only minutes before she died. You don't swallow that many pills by accident. If she had lived another decade she probably would have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She killed herself, deal with it.
