The outtakes with the unruly dog and her genuine amusement is so sweet. I think this was Marilyn at the heart of who she truly was beyond the glitz and glamour. I think she just wanted a simple life and desired true love and friendships. I feel that she was so tired of being seen only as the blond bombshell and being surrounded by people who were insincere or had their personal agenda. Such a tragic story. Hope you’re at peace, Marilyn. 🙏🏽
She knew her time was running out and told everyone close to her... pisses me off the way some of them spoke about her... she suffered extreme abuse throughout her whole life... i think thays why even today, we all deeply care for her without ever knowing her personally.
Even unfinshed her performance was as usual magical. She WAS so wonderful here. There's Marilyn- then there's everyone else. She was incandescent and one of a kind of course. Lit up from within for all her troubles.
She fainted under the dryer in hair & makeup twice at this point. She was diagnosed with a sinus infection. Source: the widely respected, exhaustively researched 'Goddess' by A Summers .
Yes, it’s painful to see how Cukor was mean to the child actors and the trainer to the dog in that final aborted movie. So no surprise that Marilyn was used for her ability to make the studios wealthy. They needed her and resented her so called misbehavior. And this was only the tip of the iceberg of everything else she was subjected to from birth. I feel angry about that for her. I grew up watching her on screen - she was wonderful.
Her problem while psychological was due to physical problems for which there was no treatment at the time (antidepressants or mood stabilizers). She suffered a great deal of pain, which was true of all people who had psychological problems at this time.
We all have problems but that is different from having a diagnosed mental illness. It has been said that Marilyn was probably bipolar. That in itself makes it a miracle she did the things she did. And why she had so many absences, being late, etc.
She had a schizophrenic mother who was in an asylum 90% of the time. She also had 9 Foster homes by age 16. Some of which were abusive. She had an arranged marriage at 16 as the Foster money stopped at 16 , so it was that or back to the orphanage. That takes a mental toll.
I am in the Marilyn Monroe family and those are absolutely the worst people who have spent no time with Marilyn. It is so easy to talk about people when they are not around to defend themselves. What Marilyn Monroe was as a genius IQ she could definitely be out with a cold for a couple of days.
Well considering all the things we are hearing about men in high power positions, directors, producers, politicians etc. forcing woman to have sex to get a role, job or keep their contract, it is no wonder Marilyn had such troubles. She probably drank and was depressed, to forget all the abuse she endured. As she was a beautiful woman that all men coveted.
We shouldn’t assume this abuse happened to her. She had other reasons to be depressed-a mentally ill mom, abandoning Dad, orphanage, substance abuse..the list goes on.
That was an Animal abuse. It was clear that the dog is pretty tired by lifting him over & over again & again while repeatedly tucking him in front of Marilyn while shouting him saying . Speak Speak? Obviously the Man is NOT a good animal trainer. Poor pooch & poor Marilyn...
As someone who loves watching TCM a lot which is commercial free and shows all those great old movies in between movies they'll have other celebrities pay tribute to their costars, directors, etc...or younger actors share which ones they admired most growing up that got them interested into getting into pictures or just tell various stories pertaining to movies in general. Few years back I was watching TCM and would like to share a story that has Marilyn Monroe in it and thought it was a nice one to hear. I believe Eve Arden was narrating and also there when it happened. There was some sort of dinner party with various actors/actresses and such gathered together. The room was filled with people chatting about. In one group it was Fred Astaire, Clark Gable and Eve Arden discussing things. Well, Marilyn was nearby and within earshot of them. The 3 were talking and having a discussion about Walt Whitman, the author. Well, Marilyn only heard the "Whitman" part so she quickly makes a beeline over to them and excitedly says in that breathy tone "Oh Whitman! I just love his chocolates." As Eve knew she'd made a rather big faux pas and didn't know how to not make her feel embarrassed, Fred Astaire, who was always a gentleman and gracious too said to Marilyn who was none the wiser agreed saying, "We all love his chocolates too." Always that what a classy gentleman he was. I felt that about him anyway but hearing this cemented it in.
She was a gentle loving caring woman, man distorted her as a human just seeing her from the outside and not seeing her beauty within,, she was looking for love and simply wanted and needed to be loved for her , how she thought but no one took the time to see her true worth only seen her as a sex toy!!! So many men are the same in today's world how very sad for all woman's, she died alone with no one by her side😪😪
Drugs and depression killed her . She was probaly bi polar and needed a 12 step program where she could talk to others . Giving her pills was the worse thing as she had attempted suicide several times . So sad she couldn’t help herself or had no one to intervene .
I love how Monroe and Taylor had those studio wolves knotted in a twist between them, perhaps unintentionally, between their respective productions. Exploiting an actor’s mental health and not expecting them to buckle further down their career, and therefore costing the studios more in the long run is just foolish.
Marilyn was deep and caring and she knew there was more to life than what we all do day after day year after year. She yearned for more meaning in her life but sadly she thought the answer was drugs and drinking to change reality into something she was hoping would bring her more excitement and happiness. I know, I've been there and its easy to do and unfortunately instead of joy I found despair, just like marilyn did. Now that iam sober I have realised that happiness comes only when we are happy with ourselves. From there we can grow and find real meaning in our lives. I don't judge anyone who is on drugs or alcoholic because I know that for many of them they are just trying to find something that takes them away from the crap that is the daily grind and rules and regulations that are hypocritical and full of shit. But look within yourself and there you will find your strength to overcome the bullshit in society. Trust in yourself is truly the most powerful tool a person can have. Oh, and faith in the Almighty of course! Peace to all.

+cubomania3 bullshit, this conspiracy theory doesn't hold any water , she was depressed and despaired in the cage of her own fabricated artificial person, there were only one possible escape : death
Everyone acts like she left us because her physical did...? She never has nor will she ever...! We crave her spirit because as complicated as it is on film, personal documentary, rumors and daily twist on reality.... She was love in its purist form....and she made us feel it in its rarity...here's to the home town girl who reminds us...that love may have eluded her in the Hollywood... But in the world diamonds held no value when it came to her and the light she was and left to us !
Bipolar depression is a condition caused by physical changes in the brain. There was no treatment until the fifties and it was not recognized by many doctors until a couple of decades ago. Many psychological conditions are caused by genetics. They have different body chemistries. We are just beginning to understand what causes these problems.

JuliaWills: There has always been depression as an illness, they just re-named it (there were too many connotations to the term "manic depression) and calling it by a fancy new name ("bipolar disorder" and there are two kinds!) helped provide a different way to diagnose and treat depression (there are several kinds), and enable the public to more easily understand, accept it and seek treatment. Mental diseases aren't easy to diagnose. There are numerous kinds of mental disorders, and/or causes for same; mania is one mental illness, depression is another although a person can have both as well as another kind of mental disturbance. Scientists and doctors have learned a lot more about the mental disorders, ECT (shock therapy) has helped some, but the brain is a very complex organ and not something to be toyed with or randomly experimented on. (Doctors are more reticent to use ECT than they were in the old days, most would rather try drugs first.) Some anti-depressants help, and there are other kinds of drugs used for specific kinds of depression but there can be side effects. Behavior therapy (psychotherapy) helps a lot n many cases, since the very drugs used to treat depression and bipolar disorder can sometimes cause more depression! Diagnosis and treatments are progressing with advanced technology, but more will be done to help people with these troublesome problems.
Cyd Charisse was a consumate professional artist. Marilyn Monroe was a neurotic mess who was far too consumed by her own insecurities to become a disciplined actress. Directors, producers and co-stars were extremely frustrated dealing with Marilyn's fears, tardiness, absences and indulgences, which is why she was fired from her last picture. Despite her attempts to learn serious acting at the Lee Strasbeg School, poor Marilyn couldn't even achieve the most basic acting requirements: 1. Show up on time. 2 Stand on your floor mark. 3. Say your lines. Unfortunately, Marilyn's husbands and psychiatrists were not able to save her from herself. Perhaps she never knew how much the world loved her?
Well done on your sobriety. For your honesty and openess. Its not an easy thing to do. Funny how i too can identify with Marlyn's insurcurities and abuse of self medication. I am also in recovery 17 yrs next week from all substances including alcohol and know only too well the denial of living a lie for almost 25 years. Without god i could not have done it. Peace to you all. RIP Marlyn xx
I barley remember Marilyn Monroe my parent put on the black and white t v I saw her in in a black bag getting her to the long car all the people were so up set I rem being so close tugging my mom skirt I knew there was something very wrong I felt the people were al sad crying I was only about four yrs old
There are stories that state Marilyn Monroe suffered from depression, one even speculated "bipolar disorder" although it was not clearly diagnosed in her time. Marilyn didn't look good in her last Movie. She had lost a lot of weight and her face was too thin. Plus there was so much sadness in her eyes. I feel bad for Marilyn. I wish someone could of saved her.
MAY GOD BLESS HER... AND ALL THESE STUNNING WOMEN WHO HAD TO GO THROUGH SO MUCH IN SUCH A LONELY WAY.. WE GOTTA BECOME MUCH BETTER HUMAN BEINGS.... MAY JESUSCHRIST FORGIVE AND HELP US ALL
Marilyn was heartbreakingly beautiful & so deeply emotionally wounded, yes drugs & alcohol were involved. Many times, used combined, for sleep. But in today's improved pharmaceutical world she would be treated properly for her moodswings & sleeping problems. Might still be an old lady w plastic surgery, but w us today!! Very sad story of MM ☹️☹️☹️☹️😰😰😰😰🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹Goodbye Norma Jean. RIP Marilyn. 🌹🌹🌹🌹❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ from another blonde...
Marilyn didn't have a stable background to begin with, she became a victim of her own self, seeking ways to cope with her popularity and extreme insecurities. She turned to alcohol and drugs to put her to sleep and then to wake her up, a dangerous combination, especially when combined with alcohol. In the end, it was out of her control, she was routinely 3 or more hours late on set, had to be brought around to perform, sadly, she may have accidently overdosed in the end. It is a frequent problem that people will take sleeping pills, forget they took them and then take them again and the accumulation can be deadly, especially when mixed with alcohol. There are numerous speculations about her death as there will always be with celebrities. Some are pretty wild, some are partially true, and some we will never know for certain. Even her autopsy was allegedly at least partially "scrubbed." Fame is often NOT easy to deal with, and can be far from what it's cracked up to be and very far from what the public knows about a famous individual.
Read the book "Double Cross* by Sam and Chuck Giancana. Their theory described in many historical events are quite nteresting. i see many possibilities that could very well be fact and not fiction. Including the death of Marilyn Monroe.
I'm sorry but in my opinion marylin Monroe could not act & often times it was cringy to watch...BUT she was beautiful & had a lovely singing voice. Doris Day made this film...& it's one of my favourites thanks to lovely Doris!
That poor girl was stuffed and mounted by every producer, actor, stunt guy and cameraman in Hollywood. Not to mention the sports stars, the politicians and several mafia members we're always chasing her down and sticking something in her. I don't think they had Lube in those days. Poor girl probably couldn't walk anymore.
Her personal life whent bad she cant work she cant switch off heart mind are in conflict fear of not being love send her mad orfan being dumped panic attack pills pills to give you corage backfire and then the end
