I really started liking Dean Martin when I saw how patient he was with Marilyn in this film, and how he refused to do the movie with another actress once she was fired. He said he would complete the picture with her and no one else. That was real kindness on his part.

Marilyn was abused BEFORE she was in Hollywood. (You didn’t talk about sexual abuse! It was ALWAYS the GIRL’S fault!!) When she was in Hollywood, “the doctor” would give you drugs to help u wake up, drugs to help you sleep, drugs for whatever! If you are already mentally unstable, throwing drugs in the mix doesn’t help! There was no real treatment for mental illness then. So she had no chance. Men used & abused her (yes, Victoria, John F. Kennedy was a horrible person). Then firing her? Just destroyed her. 🙁

I agree with yoy too. That crochedy old man shaming her age at 37?? And threatening there are always young starlets behind her. What a blast*** The social norms in that era completly added to her pathology. They pigeon holed her and she was talented beyond her bombshell appearance. The only reason I feel she was so defiant, was because she was mistreated and taken advantage of in the beginning of her career, her mental instability was brushed under the rug, she wasn't appreciated for her talents and her hard work, and she was just sick of it! Paula Strasberg (in my opinion) completely took advantage of her, milking as much money out of her, and having as much power as possible over Monroe, she was thrown in so many different directions by so many different people, and I feel all this combined is what ultimately ended her short life

In top of so many moves she was not loved from any family, married to run away from foster system, had to sell her body in so many ways to have a roof over her head and eat upon al of this keep up an opportunity to work, being badly yelled and strugling not to loose her temper and slam these freacking abusers maybe would make her feeling less tired you know. Here is a tidbit that many people don't seem to realize. Marilyn did not take all of the pills on her nightstand. Her half sister, Bernice Miracle, flushed the remaining contents of all of the bottles down the toilet when helping to clean up her home and prepare for her wake. She said that she did it because of her love for Marilyn at the time, but later wished that she hadn't done so. Also, a few of those bottles were perfectly innocent. They were prescription bottles for antibiotics for her sinusitis and also prescription allergy medications.

Back when I was growing up, it was "29 and counting." You could NEVER admit to even being 30! Your life and desirability was OVER at that age. Gloria Steinam came out when she was 40 years old, and everyone said "You don't look 40!" and she said "how would you know, as no one can admit to being 40. So no one knows "what it looks like."

Why not do it halfway through, maybe she would have had a better next half of the work day???? Hollywood killed her. Not herself. She was too much like an object rather than a woman.

I have dealt with Mj. Depression for decades. I have functioned well because I was expected to. I lived up to it over 100%. Since my husband, mom and dad died, all within 2 years of each other, I their caretaker along with hospice workers. My ability to dissociate allowed me to be a better caretaker actually. I slept, ate, bathed and wanted/needed for MUCH less than anyone else who bothered to come around. My heart was with my loved ones. My CORE family. Now gone, the depression has come back full force. I understand why she couldn't get to work or remember her lines. CLASSIC symptoms of depression when compared to an otherwise happy, productive professional and private life. WHAT IS DISGUSTING TO ME WATCHING THIS AND KNOWING HOW I AM TREATED DESPITE 38 years of service to my community, is the overt degradation, assault and COMPLETE lack of empathy for people, even to this day, who are going through hard times and need compassion, empathy and support. Jobs should NEVER fire someone for these! Not ever, particularly when they are major contributors to the stack upon the heaviness of depression. *IT IS ALWAYS ABOUT MONEY FOR ALL CORPORATIONS.* Depression MUST be acknowledged just as any other physical disability because it is in fact a disability. Some with this disease fight VERY hard, some do not. Some who do not don't because the world TRASHES THEM, SLAMS THEM. I'm disgusted, even into 2019 at how ignorant and unjust work places are as well as our legal system. I have REAL LIFE examples I so wish I did not know about first hand. LOVE TO NORMA.

OK - so I am a fan of Marilyn for her absolute talent that resonated so much in her films. Even in minor roles it was not just her physical self but she had that extra something. But now this narrative suggests she went for 'the best baseball player, the best author, the best president or best atttorney general. So in this narrative these BEST MEN were just pawns? They were all intelligent layered individuals - so they were not all puppets to Marilyn - rather she possibly wanted to be taken seriously as a person with more than sex to offer. I would think it would be hard for her to do that - just as it has been for so many great looking women to be recognised as having a personality beyond the exterior. I will never know her but have tried to piece it together and those who were her friends loved her. They recognised her vulnerabilities and not just hang off her beauty. This documentary portrays her as highly manipulative - she had her emotional/personality fragilities - but all this rather repulsive speculation is just that - repulsive. Who is alive to defend her? There is no balance and to be honest she was fabulous as an actress with great comedic timing - she was a beautiful woman with mental health issues. So we need to exploit the later and not bother to recognise the former?

BEFORE they began shooting , she should have had serious health upgrades BEFORE shooting to be sure she was UP to it. But they slammed and pushed her without the respect she EARNED ten times over for TWENTY years and more. I will always feel she died from abuse and was too tired and weak to fight it all any longer. Marilyn was an icon and she knew, she is a star, a HUGE Star, but deep inside, she was like "you and me" very vulnerable and lonely woman, almost like a child. We can´t judge her, she wasn´t mature lady to work proberly, but also we have to think, she was a good actress and artist and weak at her state....let´s say; nobody´s perfect, like Jack Lemmon says on his last words on Some Like It Hot -film. In my personal opinion, I did not know and still don't know much about who Marilyn Monroe was and what she was in the industry. But the other day me and my husband we were watching a documentary about elite and how the government hides facts from society and there was a point that Marilyn Monroe's name came up and how she was murdered. The motive to her murder was "she knew too much". So that was a way to stop her from talking.

Brilliant actress of her time, so started stalking, searching the net for photos and youtube for videos, reading about her life, yeah she was really beautiful, naive and innocent but despite traumatic experiences living different foster parents, sexual abuse, still continue to live life what she wanted, lived life to the fullest! I beg to disagree that her life was a mess. fierce and ambitious, only some people surrounds her good and bad.some loved her some were not. Whats missing was someone who will stand fo her wholeheartedly no matter what! Loved unconditionally, be there for guidance! To protect and keep her safe from any wolves! Thats life! Sadly, you mix drugs and lack of love and it's a lonely existence a ERI sense of worry for her I'm sure being that everyone uses you for that beauty and spits you out once your 30!!
