@@tihahtargaryen6695 the dir. also her co-star Lawrence Oliver, didn't have patience with Marilyn, he would often insult her and be aggressive with her on set.He wasn't understanding of how she was as an actress and mistreated her alot, which made her more uncomfortable and more unwilling on set. It's quite interesting if you wanna read up more on it.

Both the "comedy" and "romance" is supposed to stem from the idea of a sassy, streetwise, yet fundamentally innocent and sweet American falling for her complete opposite, an uptight and yet depraved prince from some fictional European monarchy by the Black Sea. The dude wears a MONOCLE. It's supposed to be funny. Or that's what the essays on the subject tell me, lol. The movie actually improves when one realizes the Olivier character is not supposed to be a serious romantic attachment for the heroine.

It's difficult for me though to find it very funny or suspend my disbelief as far as the romance goes, just because he comes across as such an A-hole and she comes across as quite savvy and streetwise. Its hard for me to believe that their respective character's could even stand to be in the same room with each other long enough to fall in love, even if it is supposed to be a comedy. I watch it, and all I see is Toxic Relationship tbh
