This reminded me of my Mom’s basic marinara sauce. She had always made sauce that took hours. Then one day, did a similar recipe and It was delicious. It’s true - you can doctor it up to use in many dishes. I love it with cooked zucchini and onions.

The garlic, whole tomatoes, red wine, red pepper flakes, and that fresh basil... 😋 One of my favorite renditions is to melt a couple/few anchovy filets in the oil prior to/along with the garlic. Garlic is one of the greatest foods on earth, it makes everything better. 😋 ❤️👍

Caroline, my husband and I both of Italian American heritage grew up too in the kitchens of our Nornas which both Nornas had decent collections of wooden spoons that were used for more than cooking LOL. Every Christmas I get my husband a gag gift, and last Christmas his gag gift was a tee shirt that says "Wooden Spoon Survivor." My husband loved his tee shirt, and when he wears it in our 55+ community The Villages in central Florida which has a pretty large population of Italian American retirees from NY, NJ, and even our former state of R.I. he gets stopped all the time by fellow residents who share their wooden spoon survivor stories and about their lives growing up Italian American. Wish you much success with your channel as you were my fav on the RHONJ, and I actually met you a number of years ago at a brunch at Foxwoods.
