I continue my quest to put together the best saltwater chinook fishing for you, and this video takes us to Marine Area 9 for my one trip to the area while chinook retention was open.
A huge key to fishing for chinook salmon is planning your trip around the tides. Not only do you need to know the tides to launch your boat, almost every spot you want to fish for salmon, will fish better on one tide or the other.
The tides and currents change at different times in different places, but also different depths of water.
As we get into the month of August and the interior of Puget Sound, my chinook tactics really start to change to include much more scent and bait. Chinook slow down their metabolic rate and this means less eating and needing a little bit more motivation to take an offering.
We fished around Point no Point towards Skunk Bay and Pilot Point, but also Possession bar before calling it a day. That was my first time for salmon on Possession and I was impressed by the pandemonium of it all!
