You know, you could try getting Kit to watch the series from AlexJordanVO. Dude's one of the voice actors for Darktide, and the dude is straight up playing the game with randoms, each video, IN CHARACTER. IT'S FUCKEN GLORIOUS.

75 hours on Darktide so far. Enjoying it a lot although it's not without faults and bugs. The tension and atmosphere are master class, the soundtrack is awesome, and the action (particularly melee) is unmatched. I one-trick the Sharpshooter (Guardsman Veteran), a ranged combat focused class, and play with two buddies who run a Psyker and Ogryn. The Ogryn player likes to control hordes and provide support for downed allies, the Psyker player likes to provide a mix of horde and elite unit damage, and I primarily focus down any ranged combatants. It's a very team-centric game and best suited for people with at least 1 or 2 friends, although the game has in game voice comms and most of the randos I've played with were acceptable in terms of attitude and ability. Each mission runs about 15-30 minutes depending on the pace of your team and the difficulty of the mission, so as long as you can make even a little time to play, you should be able to get a few missions in. 40K fans would be hard pressed to find a game as immersive in the universe as Darktide, especially in the role of a prison conscript. There's not a ton of content right now, but I would expect to see a lot of additional content over the next 2-3 years. Give the game a shot if it tickles your fancy, at its price point it's an easy recommend for me.

Goddamn, kit, bringing up dark crusade brought back a whole bunch of memories, marines all the way here. Also ultimate apocalypse is the mod, and it's so damn good like you get titans, death korps of krieg, shadowswords it's so cool

You can run it on low settings with a mid-tier GPU, but it can eat up a lot of system resources on even a high-end machine if you start turning on the more intense settings. I've been playing since their closed beta (not the preorder beta) and can say that although the game has some very aggravating flaws in its progression system, the in-mission gameplay loop is incredibly fun. They really nailed the atmosphere and Jesper Kyd made a soundtrack that blends intense orchestral and electronic elements in such a way that it really captures the feel of the 40K universe in a way that is hard to put into words (just listen to the OST track "Disposal Unit (Imperium Mix)" and you'll understand). Honestly, if it will be a while before you play that's probably not a bad thing - Fat Shark has a track record of having troublesome launches for games that become legendary as they are fixed and get more content.

Another thing no one is mentioning, is how good the soundtrack Darktide has. It is excellent

Darktide is fun, the Bolt gun staggers hallways full of people, and turns them into cottage cheese. The Plasma gun evaporates people and turns them into soup, flame throwers bake entire crowds. Good stuff. Lot of weird desync/connection issues and crashes since beta, still not fixed for me and my pals but we'll see.

Veteran Guardsman, Bolter or sometimes the “Recon” Lasgun. The bolter is a no-brainer while the recon lasgun’s in the game are fully automatic. There are two types though, one has a keyword of “Rapid-fire” while the other has a keyword of “Torrent”. The first means it’s effectively full auto. The second means the gun is a laser hose, lol. That one is a LOT more fun. For Melee, power swords are great. There’s an in-game mechanic for Power Swords, Force Swords, and Chain swords where you have to click the “Special attack” button to activate their powers. Force Swords/Chainswords, their power will activate and then discharge on the next enemy you hit. Power Swords keep the power-field up for a few seconds, which means you’ll have a huge boost to damage and armor penetration for several swings instead just ONE enemy. It makes power sword superior since it makes it easier to clear out huge hordes of enemies without needing to worry about random elites wearing armor trying to use the mooks as meatshields. The power sword cuts through EVERYTHING, lol.

The game is actually a lot of fun. If I had to pick one word to describe it, it would be satisfying. It's just very satisfying 😎 The missions are reasonably paced and different enough to keep it interesting. The great thing about the weapons is how each goes into the different aspects of combat - take the basic lasgun, for example, there's one which is reasonably fast firing, decent damage, and has a (basic) scope to help accuracy. Then there's one which is slower firing, each shot doing more damage compared to the first I mentioned, and can be charged up for a high damage shot. Finally, there's one with a very high rate of fire, but lower damage per shot, but is innately inaccurate, unless aiming down sights, making it much better than the other two when fighting a horde... It's really well thought out. The mini bosses are a highlight as well, I'll never forget the first time I was eaten by a Beast of Nurgle 😅 The Daemonhost is notoriously a pain in the butt to fight, but can be avoided if you're careful, and the one you see in this video - the Plague Ogryn - is just a wall of muscle... I've been playing it since the pre-order beta, and I'm still enjoying it a lot.

I think he just released ANOTHER Darktide video as well. I'm sure Kit will be psyched for that one.

Man, Dark Crusade is fun. I ended up getting into Eldar mostly because of it, it had some amazing lines and the plot actually had the farseer acting as an actual precog with a plan.

I suggest that if your computer might not be powerful enough to run it; Go to settings at the prelaunch menu and set ‘work load threads’ to 1.

It's called the unification mod, and it's tonnes of fun!!!

There are two different modifications to Soulstorm one is a Multiplier only mod: Ultimate Apocalypse. The Name speak for itself :) and the second is the Unification mod and it is entirely focused on skirmish and single player. Both mods have every single faction available in the setting and new units including titans, knights, a variety of super heavy vehicles, and unique units to each faction. These two mods are the only reason to play Soulstorm, try 'em out. :) My favorite factions in the Unification mod are Emperor's Children, Imperial Fists, and Thousand Sons.

Getting to play as a Veteran sharpshooter of Cadia, taking my vengence out againt the forces of chaos with my Lasgun? Yeah. This game is good.

I run it on a high-end laptop from two years ago, and it runs at a pretty consistent 45 frames per second. You just need a 5 mb/s internet connect and that is the most essential thing, I live in a hotel so the internet goes to shit from time to time and that's been my only frustration.

My Warhammer 40k loyalty is with my three army's, Tau, Necron and The Adepta Sororitas/Inquisition. This game is so fun to play and my favorite weapon is the Recon lasgun. Not too fast full auto fire so you can squeeze of singel shot just by quickly clicking the mouse button. The fact that Fatshark worked with Dan Abnett, my favorite 40k writer to make this game make me so happy. Sure Cadia is in our hearts but "Tanith first and only".

Darktide is basically 40k Left 4 Dead there are no vehicles or turrets. That you can use at least.

My gaming desktop is ~4 years old and runs it pretty well, although quite a few settings are low. Still gorgeous enough to distract me from the fighting on occasion.

My brother, Kit, my man, the mods you have heard about for Soulstorm are called "Ultimate Apocalypse" and "The Unification Mod", use "DoW Mod Manager" to make it work. Best gaming one can ask for, and I generally hate RTS games, but, its the gaming of a lifetime.

I've been loving the game. My only complaint really so far has been the lack of a PROPER mission select. Currently you either go in with quick play or select from a random set of rotating missions. Which is all fine and dandy for immersion of "heretics are HERE"/rotating mission modifiers but would love to be able to choose whatever new map comes out when I want to play it, on the difficulty I want to play it on

The mod for Dawn of War is called Ultimate Apocalypse I believe. If you liked dawn of War you should check it out. They cranked the game to proper 40k levels of insanity.

My Lenovo L340 (non-gaming) Laptop can run Darktide on low/medium settings just fine. The laptop apparently doesn't meet the minimum requirements, but by the Omnissiah's blessings, I can play just fine :)

honestly nurgle would take being called a piece of crap a compliment. The mods for soulstorm are amazing they are just taxing on your computer. You can literally build a warlord titan in them also I love the necrons in dark crusade. Also screw gw 3d print your parts don't let them have your money.

You will need to lower the settings, but if your rig is decent the game should still look absolutely amazing. The main performance nuker is the light effects

My computer is about 3 years old and runs fine at 1440p with fsr on performance. I have a 5700xt. It's on gamepass btw if you want to try it out. The Lasgun and chainsword is my favorite combo.

Answering your question Kit about what kind of rig is needed...well it's a tough one. I myself have an older rig (16GB of RAM, 7600k i5, 1080 GTX and a SSD as the most recent upgrade) and it's kinda stable with around 50FPS, sometimes going down to 30ish when there's a lot going on. However my good friend having 2080 RTX, better processor and more RAM, can't play due to constant crashes. So your mileage will vary. Give it a go and see how it works for ya. Game is nice and gameplay is solid but it's also defintely troubled with the way they went with launch.

Darktide is great, you don't need a top of the line pc to play. I have a pc from 2019 with mid level parts it amd runs fine. My favorite weapon is thr Thunder Hammer and Flamethrower.

6:24 to answering your question, im using I9-13900k, 4090, and 64gb of ram, it does run extremely well, my friend using i7-10700f, 3070 and 32gb ram, runs good but he needed to tweak a little bit of setting because after long run game started to lag a little, my other friend using very old pc, something like i7, 1080ti and 16gb of ram, he is running game in half medium half low setting but he getting more or so stable 60fps with some lag in between massive swarm attacks, game is unoptimized, so if you have specs like my 3rd friends i would recommend upgrading your PC, if you have something better lets say 2080, i7 10th, and 32gb of ram, you should be okay with medium/high setting, you just need to sit a little bit on like steam forums and read some of the troubleshooting, people often telling eachother what setting they use and what FPS they getting, so it's shouldn't be hard to find settings that will suit your PC and get stable 60 or 144 fps, overall game is good, but heavily unoptimized which is terrible mistake by fatshark and publisher because they need to run for money and ingame cash-shop instead of stability.

The game is very difficult to run and even if you have a good rig its a flip of the coin if it'll run well. Give it a few months Kit

Yes but no. 🤓 I myself sport an amd ryzen 5 3600x with 32G ram (16 are enough though, I think) and a nvidia rtx 2060 and I can play 1080p at ~60fps with DLSS on performance/automatic. It's not the most beautiful AAA cinematic experience at lower (read: medium) graphic settings but it does run well enough to have (imho) some good fun. ❤‍🔥😇

Ah I knew it was going to be a good day when this popped back on my feed again. Darktide is absolutely amazing. I started with a guardsman, then Ogryn and finally a psyker. The first two are max lvl and my psykers half way done. The weapons and the new blessing/perk system rework with the item upgrade station allows for some ridiculous builds. I watched an Ogryn player basically solo a max lvl (Damnnation difficulty) mission without going down because he was the only max lvl character and he got lucky with items that increase your health, damage resist, dealt damage, stamina, amount of wounds, etc, etc. The item ranking system is pretty nice to as it accurately displays how much better a higher level item is, for example your fist Profane (lowest quality) lasgun as a guradsman is basically shooting wet paper towels compared to a Trancendant (Highest quality) Lasgun that has 2 perks and 2 blessings. Of course there are also differnt models of each weapon (ie one pattern of lasgun has decent damage and consumes a single round while another has higher damage and uses 3 rounds per shot and the recon lasgun is full auto but is a bit difficult to use as the laser has a tendency to veer off and miss the target while dumping an entire mag.)
