We had a really fantastic time playing this game last night. Going to upload several highlights from it, be sure to subscribe so you don't miss them! RIP Mario 35
I decided to leave a switch purchase option on the table as to see if they would really do this forced obselence\scarcity shit. Whatever, not getting my money after the wii, nintendo.
Mario 35 didn't officially die until around 2:30 am CST on April 2nd when all the remaining players got the boot. I was enjoying the small lobbies of 10 people seeing you were getting really challenging levels instead of the constant 1-1 and 1-2 over and over. Was in a game when it officially died. Everyone in a game got the com error and then when trying to get in another game it was server no longer available and the Thank you for your continued interest.
wow, really? Thats kinda messed up. When the global link for Pokemon went down, they just made it so no new ranked matches could start past the shut down time. But they let me and anyone else currently in a match at that time play it to its conclusion. It made for a pretty epic situation.
@@etherraichu Yeah as long as people didn't close the game it seemed to allow most of those people to keep playing. I had just left it in the game menu and allowed my console to auto shutdown after a period of time.and kept my access until the end of the game. My final lobby had 10 players with only 2 other players beside myself remaining when it finally shut down. The smallest lobby I ended up with in the final hour was 6 players.
It really disappoints me that no matter how many people played, how many people stated they loved the game, they still decided to take it down. It was such a fun game and a cool concept.
Yea, I get that it was a commemorative thing and no, I didn't play it everyday but the general popularity of it... it's a bit strange to just ditch it. They could have just had it as an exclusive to the online membership with their NES and SNES library.. It would potentially have been interesting to see what other classic games could have adapted the "35 mode" competitive play.
A moment of silence for Greg. He was a ruthless killer and a worthy foe. He took down more players than any Lakitu party. RIP Greg 2020-2021. Gone but not forgotten.
@@elile8games611 WOW REALLY?!?!?!? No one had ANY clue that Mario 35 was for the Mario 35th anniversary. Thank you for bringing this to light. Now no one will care that the game they enjoyed it gone because it was for the anniversary...
I am 40 years old now and not a big gamer any longer. Yet I've got totally hooked by that game. The concept about building time and coins was so clever. I've ended playing 160 hours with 252 wins. It's really tough for me to see it gone. :(
This online service is no longer available. Thank you for your continued interest. I really thought there was a chance of a Nintendo Direct today telling everyone that the whole thing was an April Fool’s joke but no Nintendo’s not THAT cool :(
Really sad this game is gone. Had a ton of fun playing it. I really hope they bring the Super Mario 35 concept to Super Mario Maker 3 whenever it comes out. It'd be amazing to do this in the different Mario games with custom made levels
The issue with private servers, especially for a game needing 35 people, is you need a proper playerbase. Sadly, a small percentage of people know how to mod a switch or how they would connect to a private server, so it would likely be pre-organized get-togethers if there is a private server. But you never know!
I had downloaded it thinking "hey, I'll play it later when I have the time". I had no clue it would be gone so soon. Why Nintendo? Sure things stuff like this makes me very wary about online games.
eyo imagine nintendo was pranking us this entire time cause of april fools day but seriously nintendo makes alot of mistakes and this is a MAJOR fuck up for them there was alot of support behind mario 35
@@elile8games611 and Super Mario Maker was for the 30th, and they kept its servers up long after they discontinued the Wii U. Hell, even after the sequel came out. Being an anniversary title isn't a good reason to kill it, especially after only 6 months.
@@elile8games611 So? I have many anniversary items - they didn't get taken away from me at the end of the year. Again, if people paid money for this game they deserve a refund.
Kosmic I have a myth for SMB1: 1) go do the 4-2 wrong warp 2) what happens when Mario falls into the hole that the vine comes out of because normally he can't fit.
So many close calls in this match! Awesome victory! Also... The person that placed 7th? I saw them so many times while I was recording spectated matches. They were so close, but they unfortunately never achieved 1st in any of those matches. I hope they were able to win at some point.
Dude, I love how after playing Super Mario for thousands of hours, you still laugh when you discover a hidden block that kills you. I do too. It's why this is the best game ever made.
I didn't play enough of this game man. My last matches were so fun and now I can't play anymore. The "thank you for your continued support" message killed me. At least I got a few lakitu parties in before the end.
I'm beyond pissed off that they decided to do this. It was the biggest, if not the ONLY REASON I paid for a live subscription. They won't be getting any more of my money.
@@generalgk if enough people feel the same way, maybe they'll change it. This isn't an official Nintendo channel, but it is a channel full of Nintendo patrons.
"I should screenshot my stats" Actually, your stats will still remain after March 31st, at least when I checked which was yesterday morning, April 1st. The only thing that's gone is the actual gameplay and coin ranking. The stats, options, icons, and whatnot are still there as long as you still have the app.
@@elile8games611 Why are you typing that stupid crap on every reply?! Everyone knows it was made for the 35 year anniversary there Sherlock Holmes. Was your first clue Mario ''35''?! People are mad because they don't want the game gone, and could care less if it was for the anniversary or not.
@@LunchMeatTrump there's that small percentage of Nintendo fans that has to accept Nintendo's justification for the things they do (or even make up a justification if there is none) that gives Nintendo fans in general a bad reputation for making excuses for Nintendo. They could have said, "since people really enjoy this game, we're going to make some improvements and leave this version up until there is a paid version ready to release." They could have even said, "we have no interest in improving this game, but there's no point in taking a perfectly good game offline if there's still sufficient player interest." Instead, they basically told us, "This was intended to be a novelty that would be fun for a little while, but not sustain interest. You are causing a problem for us by taking this game seriously." It was completely stupid of Nintendo to not reverse this decision to make the game temporary by the end of 2020, and come up with some plan to utilize this property in a way the fans would enjoy and would make themselves a profit. It could have been an update to the existing game with DLC, or a new paid game with DLC. I hope it's actually coming, or they at least decide to make this the Shamrock Shake of video games, but I somehow doubt it.
If Nintendo doesn't want to earn money on Mario 35, then they should sell it to another company allowing to play on PC, Xbox and PS or get share in income of the company. Killing the game the players love seems to be a nonsense.
The fact that he stayed longer than the time that the servers lived reminded me of a couple of people who did the same thing on an old halo game for the original Xbox.
What would be cool is if they would come out with a new version, where you can play SMB, SMB3 & SMW levels against other people. Maybe as individual games (effectively making the SMB version SMB35), or with random levels from each. Even if you would actually have to buy it, for the right price (I probably wouldn't pay $60 for it), I think it could work.
I hope this was just a test of concept and we get an even more flushed out Battle Royale style Mario game in the future. I think this game had a lot of unused potential and that Nintendo could end up bringing it back in some way. RIP Mario 35
I don't think it's Nintendo's way of thinking like ,,let's programm a game which you only can play for 6 months" Nintendo is too lazy to do so. Some day, this game will be playable again.
bless the RU-vid algorithm for recommending me your videos for the last few months since I found your channel- realized today I wasn't subscribed somehow... wtf! I fixed that
I'm so happy to see you at 100k plus subscribers. I was there for the end of Halo 2, I was here for the end of this too. You'll hit 1 million this year!!
Time limited offers for me shows the insecurity of Nintendo regarding their products' success because relying on this kind of timely methodologys is pretty cheap
My final game/win ended in a still frame at the very end of 4-2 with Bowser jumping in a pit... he knew what was up indeed. I finished at 260/820 wins in about 114 hours at level 25**, going to miss it. Looking forward to the other videos, it's a great spectator game.
This is sad to lose this game. I am upset and disturbed by Mario being delisted and the Playstation 3 store will soon be gone. PS3 being shut down hits hard. I feel so old!
There should be mandates in place to ensure that if a company no longer wants to support a game then they must make it possible for a third party to do so. This is a stupid as not being able to watch Casablanca.... or that original Star Wars Trilogy is no longer available to buy.
Man, as much as I wish we could've gotten a lobby match going, I feel it was an honor to be a part of the craze. 🙂 Funnily enough, I also had the idea to speed through the levels, but hey, I feel like the idea in itself was just for fun, no doubt about it. You, Adef, and everyone else rocked the 35 like nobody's business. Until we meet again, you fantastic opportunity of a game. 😌 GG, Mario.
Man I miss this game. I’m glad Tetris 99 and Pac-Man 99 aren’t going anywhere. I used to hate battle royale style games. Mario 35 was the first one I played. Now I’m hooked to both Tetris 99 and Pac-Man 99. I wonder if there will be anymore of these in the future.
Nintendo has some really weird business practices... who even thought that it would be a GREAT idea to make this game unavailable after such a short period of time? O_o
I hope that Nintendo makes a full fledged Mario battle Royale game with original levels or perhaps a one with levels from smb3, smw, nsmb, being mixed in. For huge variety. This was too good of a concept for them to entirely abandon.
