People: what are we gonna do? We can't use that glitch on switch. Me: why not do it on the wii u verison, or find another level that has that glitch? People: ...... u r a genius.
as a game developer, i know what's happening: how games normally work is its constantly clearing the screen, then adding a new frame (you dont see this due to a term called "double buffering", where before the old frame is cleared, the new one is being made, so that its ready to go when youre ready). the game isn't clearing the screen (it's still double buffering), so when you go outside the sky box (the very large circle that shows the sky texture), the frame you previously had is always going to render, since it was never cleared
@TheLennyFace probably, since what im expecting what's happening there is that to save memory, they have 2 cameras, one on the map, and the one on wherever you are. since having 2 separate things working on the screens can be a little demanding for the 3ds
Reminds of what I used to do in AR Games in AR Photos in the section where you would draw a drawing to take a picture. I remember there were multiple stamps that you could use in your picture and I would just drag each of the stamps across the screen to see what they look like. Those were the days, man.
Ok let me explain why this happens. Every time a frame goes by with you moving it moves the model and creates a ghost model that usually gets put behind the background but if you have no background it continues to make those “ghost” models and makes that really trippy effect. (This is probably the best way I can explain it even though it isn’t fully what’s going on)
I think it's more like a hallnof mirrors effect in doom where the rendering buffer doesn't get any new information on stuff to draw in the world and therefore doesn't refresh the image any longer besides refreshing the character. Normally everything is repainted every frame but if theres nothing to paint in the buffer, everything stays the same the next frame
@@eshan-does For smg2, goes to the first flip galaxy, jump in a space without a platform and shake your wii remote at the last second and jump. Sunshine in bianco hills on a high pole drain fludds water supply in a way, then get hit by a air speed cloud.
as a lot of people have already pointed out, you're just outside the skybox and the game is set up to not clear the screen before drawing the next frame. and that makes sense, its a waste of processing cycles since when it draws the skybox it basically clears the screen anyway. what i find even more interesting is that the skybox doesn't follow the player position. most games do it that way because it has several advantages: its super easy to do, it prevents this exact thing from ever happening, and as a side effect it removes the parallax shift giving the illusion that the sky is really big and far away.
I remember doing this and other glitches when I was a kid and I showed it to my older sister cuz I thought it was cool, she got mad at me thinking I broke the game entirely lol
It's caused because that area wasn't set to refresh the screen/sky so old frames are still present. It's not really because you went so far the game starts to break because that's a very small distance from the level.
Looks like you go far enough that everything gets culled and also the frame buffer does not get cleared. Hence the trippy effect because apparently there is no death plane either.
In fact, that is not a glitch. In video games, you have to program areas to erase old frames, so by going out of bounds this way, you’re going into an area where the game stops erasing old frames, hence what you see there.
Did you know In The first level you could jump off the edge to the right and Mario won't die. He will land in the air and start swimming. Nintendo left an invisible water area in the air. Yes this is truei do it all the time in my Mario 3D world on my Wii U ⭐🎮🎮
i belive this happens because the player is too far from the killzone an so they go to a point where the screen stops refreshing which is it stops redrawing some images so they overlap, i think you go out of the skybox or something
I remember this type of glitch happening to me so many times on one of the games I had on the GC. Like I didn't need to try for it to happen, it would just happen like 3 times on every level and softlock me☠️
I know what’s happening, you go too far and the backdrop end and since there’s no backdrop the remnants of the character are still there in the background, which isn’t an actual glitch, it’s just that your out of bounds.
