The opportunity to make Memory Bros X have Wario and Waluigi’s colors was missed _twice._ Can you believe that a GREAT opportunity like that was missed *TWO ENTIRE TIMES*
@@Green24152 I would try but A: I'm not sure I can B: Where would I put it C: I'm lazy. I'll try to remember this though so if I ever get like a deviantart account or something that'll be the one thing I put on there and I'll try to remember this here thread
So I didn't get to say this at first, but recently, a childhood memory came back to me regarding this fight: When I saw Bowser X for the first time (I wasn't even 12 years old when the DS game came out), I actually had my own theory as to what he was! 12-year old me thought Bowser X was Bowser's thoughts of having enough power to defeat Matio & Luigi given a physical form! Of course, it was just my overactive imagination, but I think part of it is due to how BiS is my favorite Mario RPG of all time and probably my favorite DS game next to Kirby Super Star Ultra.
Beating Class 7 in The Gauntlet isn't really that difficult, I did it with Mario and Luigi at Level 36 with this loadout: Mario: - Master Wear (increases damage of Critical and Lucky Hits) - Bro Socks (fully refund the cost of a Bros. Attack if scoring an Excellent with it) - Heroic Patch (greatly increase the cost and damage of Bros. Attacks) Luigi: - A-OK Wear (increases all stats) - DX BP Socks (because BP is important) - Tight Belt (decreases BP costs by a good amount) With this, I was consistently able to land Excellent Bros. Attacks with Mario, and thus had no BP problems with him while also dealing massive damage. Luigi consumed less BP than he usually would and had lots to spare too, so I only had to occasionally use Syrup. Best to do in the Dark Star X battle while he is invulnerable and you took out the Dark Satellmites X with one Snack Basket from Mario, and during the Bowser X fight while your Bros. Attacks are down. Badges: Went in with the Expert Badge and Powerful Badge first for the x6 damage in the final fight. Once I had that badge filled, I switched to a Master Badge + Mushroom Badge for an emergency revive if needed (because Bowser X hits like a tank). Once I had that, I went for the Master Badge + Powerful Badge so I could use the Falling Star with an x3 again. So I breezed through the first bosses with Mario dealing ridiculous damage (Falling Star 2000 damage on Bowser Memory LX with Lucky Hits and DEF down after the big star hit) and was at Bowser X with something like 24 remaining turns. I immediately hit him with a Falling Star x6 so I would get him into Fury immediately (and I almost accidentally killed him in one attack, dealt 5300 damage with Lucky Hits, I only missed like two more Lucky Hits from the clusters). I then let Luigi use the weaker and less consuming Bros. Attacks (Jump Helmet, Green Shell, Fire Flower...) and Mario used the heavy-hitters (Mighty Meteor, Falling Star, Magic Window...). Once I got the Falling Star back I had my x3 damage set up, and I managed to dodge most of Bowser's attacks or survive the ones that hit. The x3 did lots of damage too, and I just kept spamming my attacks and he went down easily. It only took me 18 turns to defeat Class 7. Edit: After fully watching the fight...I'm an idiot, I could have just lowered his HP some and finished it with the Falling Star without triggering Fury. Ah well, it still wasn't too difficult.
Huh weird, in the original game, the Dark Mecha Chawful's alternate form's attack had this "glitching" effect to it that made it harder, but they made it easier for the remake... I guess that's another thing that the remake ends up breaking. EDIT: Also thanks for showing it off Skawo! I appreciate it. :D
what pisses me off is that they increased the BP cost for ALL bros attacks. Like, I kind of get the nerfing of falling star, but the attack itself was nerfed. Magic window could’ve been nerfed only in one way, but upping its bp cost AND making it no longer infinite?! like, just do one! and although I disagree that this could’ve been on switch, PiT (Partners in Time, the game that came before it that they skipped because it did poorly compared to the others) could’ve EASILY worked with one screen.
Surprised no one ever told you about softener gloves. Hoo boy. What if I told you they had around a 90% chance to inflict the strongest defence down debuff in the game, which works on bosses? After the debuff from it, it's basically an around 3.5x damage multiplier. Boss rush with that knowledge is a joke. With daredevil boots, challenge medal, softener gloves, and magic window I've seen high 5 digit damage values.
Does anyone prefer the old sprites and animations in the original? These new animations are okay, but to me they seem stiff and can barely be as flexible as the the old ones
@@thatguy-yy9tz Speed does cap out after a bit, so if you were able to set up an AI to perform the attack for you, you could reliably beat the final stage of the gauntlet at level one (not that it’s possible to reach the final stage with magic window without leveling up)
@@Kurumithespiritnightmare Problem is, this game and the original used the touch screen a lot. How would they implement this game into one screen? Especially places like Yik's Tower, where Bowser affects the place Mario & Luigi explore without sending the Bros back to Bowser's hub world when he takes over.
@@paperluigi6132 Maybe they could make a mini screen in a top corner just like the Sea Blooper fight. And I think the Switch does have a Touchscreen. The only problem with a Switch version would be attacks that require a lot of vertical distance, like Snack Pack or some enemy attacks. But they could strech the screen, scroll it a little or just adapt them to fit.
Now's probably as appropriate a time as any to mention the Falling Star's quirks in this version. In the original, it was much more fast-paced. The star moved faster, you threw just a bit faster, the color swapped much faster, and if you were really good, you'd get 3 clusters of stars with an extra or two. The average decent go at it would get two clusters and a lot of small ones. In this version, *everything* has been slowed down, and they seem to have compensated for the attack lasting for infinity by making each of the clusters (now easily reaching *four* of them) do less and making the individual stars do jack all. It took the absurd ×6 modifier plus those random buffs to make the small stars do an amount of damage comparable to what they easily did in the original, 13. Also the stars thrown are now generic with no cute little eyes and I miss that.
I still remember my first time beating Bowser X in the original. Mario was down and I had no 1ups left, so I just hammered with Luigi in a desperate attempt to finish him off as it was pretty late into the battle. I failed the attack and only did 33 damage. And it killed him. I was completely awestruck.
I do remember as well. It was three years ago. Wonder why it took me that long? I have the European version of the game, which had a bug that fucked up the sprites after bowser did the attack where he goes on fire and drops flame from the upper screen. It was a literal nightmare, I didn't even understand what the hell was going on and what in the world was hitting me, but I was so happy when I finally won :)
Bruh imagine being Bowser and just receiving the Golden Shell and being like "Wait what, what is the gauntlet and where did this Golden Shell come from???"
Willing to bet that they made Dark Star X gold because that's the color of a regular Power Star. And with that reasoning, I honestly prefer this new look. The original had such a bright, vivid red, you couldn't really call it "Dark" anymore either, methinks.
The gold Dark Star is likely done to be the opposite of a Dark Star even inverting yellow goes to blue and vice versa. It can also represent how this gold Dark Star X not only represents the original DS games fight with the actual Dark Star but also because of the atmosphere fitting more in this battle arena with the normal boss theme since it's not as Dark as fighting the Real Dark Star. It's hard to explain but I hope you get what I mean.
GeoshiTheRed wow that’s actually the best reason for making it yellow and why they didn’t use the better battle theme anyways really nice comment keep up the good work
@@Kurumithespiritnightmare Thanks I can be quite observative =) Its certainly not an easy thing to figure out, but it can be a rather accumulation thing to figure out. ;)
I think they did it because, with the new colors of the battle arena, it would have been hell to see the dark star with the original tone of red they used.
6:00 Aw, the Junker X fight gives you a rather nifty item which I thought you'll use. The Challenge Medal. In the DS version all this did was buff the enemies stats & gave a 50% increase in coins. A drawback is that you had to sacrifice an equip slot for it. In the remake, it's been changed to be like the Great Force item from Superstar Saga, where you deal increased damage, both given & taken. It affects everyone, including Bowser even if the Bros. don't end up fighting anything. Due to that... the Challenge Medal + Dare Devil Boots makes the game very broken. For Mario he wore 'Hero Wear, Bros Socks & Daredevil Boots' while Luigi had 'Barrier Wear, Special Gloves DX & Challenge Medal'. Mario dies in 1 hit from anything but Hero Wear's revival works out well not to mention unlimited BP if you get Excellent for his Bros. Attack, and Luigi with Barrier Wear grants him immunity for 10 hits while trying to deal some damage with the Special Gloves DX from his Bros Attack. Throw in the Challenge Medal into the mix and there ya go, game broken. Let's just say on an Air Cheep, for the First Strike Mario deals 63 damage. With the Challenge Medal... that becomes 158 damage. He also has the Boots equipped.
I used the Challenge Medal in my playthrough of the original game just to make the game more challenging. I felt it served that purpose better. The equipment slot being used up sucked, but I was willing to put up with it.
Oh, I didn't even read the description of the Challenge Medal, to be honest; just assumed it was the same as in the original. Would definitely use it now!
Yep, a warning however... if you pair the Challenge Medal with Double-Edge Fangs on Bowser... don't miss getting an Excellent otherwise it'll VERY likely one-shot you with regular attacks. Using a Punch Attack... got a "Great" for 565 damage and it reflected 705 damage back which is an Instant-KO. Without the medal, hit 226 damage with 113 reflected back.
No outro gag? I'll just pretend you were wearing a golden Bowser shell. I'm disappointed that Bowser X wasn't recolored like the other X bosses were. Wonder if there's a reason for that.
I kinda like it like that honestly. It felt like that you weren't fighting an X clone of Bowser; you were fighting Bowser himself! That fight is basically the final Bowser fight we didn't get at the end of the game. Guess they put it into the optional Boss Gauntlet because of how strong he was.
same happened in Dream Team for some reason; very conspicuous considering how Antasma X did get one. I guess fighting Bowser as-is does seem like part of the experience, though. Like, he gets stronger while still being the same stubborn old arch-nemesis?
20:37 "R.I.P Mario" 1981 - 2019 Killed (and killed again) by the Dark Star Place : Bowser's inside Where did we find him : In the toilet, with Luigi, who survived..." 20:46 Mario : Wait, no, I am fine, I somehow revived... Twice ! 21:17 Mario : (Gets squished)... I am... Fine... 21:53 Mario : (Gets squished again)... Ugh... I am still OK... Mamma mia, if Luigi can get hit by a "Mighty Meteor" be is okay, I can be smashed by him a thousand times ! Yahoo ! 26:16 Luigi : (Gets hit by a Mighty Meteor... again) Mario : See ? 30:41 Me : The smartest thing Bowser could do at that moment, is to use his shell...
0:38 Perhaps Fawful had only recently came up with these new designs as Bowser was storming Peach's Castle and didn't want to use them at first, since they were unpolished. Would make even more sense in the original game, where upgraded Mechawfuls had their timers glitch before reaching zero.
If Bowser's body can take the Dark Star battle... and create a more powerful version of that... then, why isn't Dark Star X the one giving it to the Mario Bros. in the first place? Oh, God, that sounds so wrong in hindsight.
Since this episode focuses on the gauntlet....While I was fighting junker X in the original a few days ago, it actually missed the little trash can when throwing him
@Francisco Colautti That's like calling Eggman "Dr. Robotnik". They even made a jab at that in Sonic Generations. The movie I can forgive, since it's based on the Genesis days.
@@minerrem7188 ... Excuse me whilst I more than innocently correct you. Dr. Eggman calls Classic Eggman, (oh god I don't like calling Dr. Robotnik Classic Eggman) and I QUOTE Eggman from the game, "Most excellent and efficacious Dr. Eggman of the past." That is just Eggman from the PAST, not two seperate people.
Super late to this, but i preferred the original's KO status. It was more unique and less busted since it would instead give that multiplier ONLY to the single next hit. In other words: For the shooting star, it would only dramatically increase the big star's hit. This, obviously, made the spring helmet the BEST tandem since it was the only single target, one hit tandem (also made the basket a complete crowd destroyer, but you never need THAT much AoE) Plus, the final badge was a lot cooler. You get fairly fast charge (i recall better than the great badge at least) and awesome effects BUT if you dont get an excellent (with the exception of the attack being interrupted due to all enemies being dead), that bro's side resets
Why do Goombas are defeated when Mario throws a fireball at them but not when Bowser does it? Also, 5000-ish damage is the greatest damage I have seen in any M&L series video without hacking or grinding to 999 POW...
My strategy was a lot like yours, except the Daredevil Boots went on Luigi and Mario got the Challenge Medal and piece of equipment that restores BP whenever you get an excellent. I used Yoo Who Cannon to clear out most of Alpha Kretin's segments, and if there were no more segments of the color of the Bro. whose turn it currently is, use either Jump Helmet or Super Bouncer if it's Luigi or Mario's turn respectively since it causes that other Bro. to land the hits.
If your wondering about the giant attack, yes the model is used, even new animations and everything, just that jumping on the spring looks a little weird.
Gauntlet equipment I used level 37 both bros. Mario Synchronized Wear (But D Star can also be used) Daredevil boots Gumption Socks (All POW Beans) Luigi Excellent Wear Excellent Gloves Badge Socks (All defense, Stache, and Speed Beans) Beginner Badge and Bro Badge Change to Pro Badge and Powerful when you get to Whismer Strategy for the first 3 bosses use any non-lethal attack from Mario and then Mighty Meteor for KO Durmite (you want syrup or 1-up) Then for Alpha Kretin you start off with yoo hoo cannons and then if you have all green on Luigi’s turn use Super Bouncer, if not then jump with either bro to finish then mighty meteor for the KO. Whismur should be simple you could use a syrup from Mario on either bro and falling star with Luigi depending on how many badge meters you have filled up or you could just go for two mighty meteors, it’s wether you are wanting max syrups for later or not. Then on junker, use both badge meter fills and switch to pro and powerful badge. You should have 32-30 turns left. You can either kill junker asap or use junker with bros moves from Luigi to get both powerful badges to spam on dark star/Bowser x but with 30 turns you have some leeway. You might lose Mario’s turns in these last fights but I would say Mario can have about 6 ko’s before the chance to win is 50/50 if you get into the bowser with with 2 powerful/pro badge meter fills then you can win in about 12 turns using Falling Star for each badge fill and then using the other bros moves to get another shot if needed.
Welp, good strategy. I wouldn't have thought of using it because I would've assumed that the POW up badge would work the same as it did in the original, and only upgrade the next HIT, as opposed to the next move. Would mean that only the 1st hit of Falling Star would get boosted (which, actually is still worth it considering how hard it hits). I think the Magikoopa Mob Challenge is still different, in that it never speeds up. Then again, you sped the entire thing up so it's hard to tell if I'm right or not. Still, I remember the reward for completing all of Broque Madame's challanges was a lot better in the original. You got a shell that, while having great stats, also gave you a passive 30% Punch attack increase. It was the only shell with a passive effect in the original too.
0:40 My guess is that the suits are like mechs for the heads and well ressources are limited so when he finally upgrade the suit design he only has a LIMITED amount of them wich is why when an old one is destoyed they are authorised to use a new one
When I did the x battles in the original, I was very underleveled but had my badges give bp. Basically using my bros attacks to one shot everything until Bowser X, used a bp charge, and then went down the list on my strongest attacks until I got them back.
Yea be glad that you didn't grind and didn't be the one who defeated bowser in the original, it took me a month when I beat the game to FINALLY beat him I grinded to level 50 and i had to stop at some points because I was getting bored but i kept doing it and after 50 failed attempts, and and 2 star candy that dropped from the meteor, I beat him then I stop playing I was done that's it
Who would win? Damage to Bowser X with a 6x multiplier and one of the strongest attacks in BiS, dealing 4956 damage with Luigi having a very high POW level, *or* *A lucky critical hit with the Slingsniper with enemy DEF down, everyone's POW up, and stopped time with LVL 45, balanced stats, and ~90 'stache, dealing... similar damage* in Dream Team this sounds so stupid ples look at other comments now
The dark mechawful robots have the same alt form in the original game aswell -_- they just deal more damage and with the punch attack the timer glitches to make it harder to counter Yet sadly they change this fun unique quirk in the remakes sigh...
So the Dark Star X is yellow/gold now, huh. Guess I can't really complain if it gives the Dark Bowser mods for Smash more palette opportunities. (ngl I'd use a gold Dark Bowser mod in Smash)
I always just did the meteor attack to gain items for the x boss gauntlet. Then just use a few free turns using syrup while dark Star was invincible on the ds version. Then power boost magic window ( i was good enough at it that I was able to outdamage the Star move with it and on a good day I could one turn up to the trash can and on a Really good day since it was an infinite attack till your screw up x dark Star ( after it was vulnerable anyway)
Dark Mecanifawful.5 used to make it so you couldn't see the number. I see now that magic window has a limit to how much damage you can do. That ruins the attack for me.
I see you skipped one of Bowser X gimmicks. When close to death he heals back to full health and enters rage mode. I don't know how low he has to get, but that makes the fight longer. There he also uses his giant attack.
The reason they don’t have the improved armor at the beginning is because it’s a scam, they can’t get a new one until the old one breaks, so they keep the old pieces to improve the new armor when it gets sent out
In the first clip, I believe there is one other thing that’s different besides speed is they have more defense. The first body took 206 damage while the new one takes 173.
18:34And Red is actually my favourite color. 25:32Wait, *_7200?!_* That was the absolute most appropriate time for me to have said I was done for! 27:32Yeah, no. I am *so* much more used to this on the original. It's just easier to predict where each of the Brothers will appear.
The main issue I have with it is the scripted damage and the cutscenes. The first thing wouldn’t be an issue... if the gimmick of the giant battle hard mode counter parts (X’s and Turbos) wasn’t that you *couldn’t obtain healing items, nor heal in general*. At least Dream Team was kind enough to removed the scripted damage from the X version of Giant battles. Maybe this reason is why there isn’t a Turbo Giant Boss Medley...
