That's interesting! I had no idea that was actually a thing. Well regardless, it wouldn't have made a difference for the sake of this video, but still that's cool to know
To be specific, the big-wheeled karts like the B Dasher have three mushrooms, the standard karts you find in battle mode have two mushrooms, and the tiny-wheeled ones like the Dry Bomber have one mushroom.
I spent way too much time on Mario Kart DS. Rightfully so, the mission mode was highly enjoyable, download play was a joy to use and the portability of the DS made it fun to take on the go. At least I can say that everyone who has played it wants mission mode to return.
How Mario Kart DS Triggers me: When playing with people who don't have the game, you can only play the Mushroom & Shell cup tracks and you can only play 3 battle courses, and there not even the good ones like Twilight House or Block Fort!
Christian Larsen are you kidding? Those two are the worst, they’re too big and Block Fort has too many layers, so it’s a pain to navigate. The 3 yo u can play are the best ones
Tick Tock Clock is possible backwards: when the first gear is spinning counterclockwise you can shroom into the right corner and when you hop at the right moment you clip onto it. You can do this shroomless on the other gears and when you reach the last one you just drive forwards and get respawned just after the last gear and complete the rest of the track. Note: I used Drybones and ROB-BLS Note 2: in order to clip on the other gears they have to be moving into eachother: ↙️ ↖️ Here is me doing it:ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9mOFFb7AXhw.html
You can do Figure 8 Circuit backwards? Mind = blown (also you only had one mushroom because the Dry Bomber has the low item stat. If you use Dry Bones's Banisher you'd get 3 mushrooms)
I really like this Backwards series, so much that it actually inspired me to try MKDS backwards before you made a video on it. Great video, really looking forward to your attempts on the Retro Tracks. -maybe Nintendo themselves knew you would eventually make Backwards videos, considering certain missions force you to play like this-
I know I’m 4 years late, but, tick rock clock is actually possible. At the gears, for some reason the game greets it a the edges are slanted, so if you keep doing that you’ll get past all the gears, but then there’s a wall, but you can simply just use a mushroom into the pit and spawn on it.
Luigi's Mansion is one of my all-time favourite tracks, the soundtrack gives me Mario Kart 7 nostalgia and the setting is so stunning, I remember when I played that track, so much nostalgia :)
Speaking of the Retro Tracks every one of the DS retro tracks are doable except for N64 Frappe Snowland and GCN Luigi Circuit. And also in Double Dash Luigi Circuit, DK Mountain, Wario Colleseum, Bowser Castle, and Rainbow Road aren't doable in reverse the other 11 are doable.
0:30 it depends on what kart you pick example: all standard kart gives 2 mushroom, one of Mario’s: b-dasher gives 3 mushroom and the kart you used gives one
I literally started laughing hard af when he started talking about Mario Circuit because he was praising it like it was the best thing ever in the Mario Kart DS video
What you have to remember is that Mario Kart DS, Wii, and 7 used a checkpoint system to determine placement/position. Every track has certain key checkpoints however, where players respawn, and each one must be crossed for a lap to count. In Cheep Cheep Beach, there is a respawn directly before the dock area starts, and if you go off at the right angle, you can probably trigger the checkpoint. Theoretically, it is possible for that course to be completed backwards. While I could not find any video documentation of it, TAS bots can 100% do said action. I'm usure if a human could do it, strictly based on if it's very precise or not. The unique checkpoint system allows for respawns to be exploited very effectively, which also explains how DS Bowser Castle's ending glitch works, when you dive off of the side and hit the giant pole.
Each character has 3 unique karts. One of these karts will be the slower one, another will be average speed and the last will be faster. The faster kart is given 1 mushroom for Time Trials, the average-Speed kart is given 2 mushrooms and the slower one is given 3. The Dry Bomber is Dry Bones’ faster kart, which is why you were only given 1 mushroom. I believe that that is how it works in MKDS.
Oh, I see. YOu're doing the backwards series BACKWARDS! So your doing all the mario kart games in backwards order. Why did this take me SO LONG to figure out lol.
Hello Nathaniel Bandy I just wanted to say keep up the good work your awesome and a great Mario Kart Player I enjoy your vids everyday they make me laugh every time Keep up the Good Work :)
oh yeah... the items ability. it shows how many mushrooms you get while using a specific kart on time trial. the dry bomber and other light karts have 1 mushrooms, medium karts have 2 mushrooms, and heavy karts have 3 mushrooms
I thought of something you should do! Mario Kart tracks forward but driving in reverse! If you can only progress with a boost panel ranp, it’s considered impossible since they send you the way you’re facing.
Nathaniel, you probably didn't know this, considering this video and the How Mario Kart DS Triggers You video, but the "Item" stat in this game determines how many mushrooms you get during a Time Trial.
Just curious, but do you ever plan on doing Backwards videos on the CTGP mods? (CTGP Revolution for MKW, and CTGP-7 for MK7) Other than that so far enjoying the series!
You thought DS Mario Circuit was boring? I thought it was the best Mario circuit out of all the Mario circuits from past and future Mario Kart games but I respect your opinion ☺️
I don't know about the others, but in 64 your respawn depends on the last drivable polygon you touched (even if that polygon is much too steep to actually drive on). There are some shortcuts that involve hitting a distant wall so you respawn there. Maybe that will work in this game too? Try hitting the support post of the deck in Koopa Beach?
also for mario kart super circuit you have to play any cc to get the S cup and then once you unlock the S cup then you play quick run and then you do backwards thing for time trials there is no S cup and you have to unlock it.
