This sounds like an alternate double dash title screen theme, just without the whistle. I feel like the big problem with some of the kiosk demo songs, despite being of higher quality, felt more like songs in double dash and there didn’t seem to be a distinct sound for DS yet.

SMK had that 16 bit feel, using familiar SNES sounds. MK64 had more 32 bit sounds. MK:SC was more chiptune with more 8 bit elements. MKDD was more brass oriented, with more of a frantic and wacky tone, though not exactly jazz. I’m sure some people who tried the kiosk demo were worried MKDS wouldn’t have its own identity with its songs, but the final game shows more emphasis on synths which is evident in the title screen theme.

Well mkds didn’t have its own identity which music to they pretty much used mkdd instruments and item SFX as a placeholder for reference not to mention the music composed mkdd also did mkds and that’s explains why plush all music in DS is midi same for mkdd midi sequence instruments 🎹. I found out the some tracks had more details and more elements to them and that was all toned down and changed.

All of the instruments that are from Double Dash, yes, they are from the sequenced soundbanks. Especially since development began only one year after Double Dash.

Actually, it does go a little further than that since there are specific samples that the soundbanks don't include, yet the kiosk demo has. For example, the upper sample of the Sax Ensemble sampled at c6, as well as the high choir ahhs from Bowser's Castle in Double Dash, used a few times here.
