Mario Kart N64 Shortcuts and Glitches (HQ)

This game was a huge part of my childhood. Im happy my cousin's N64 still works! I now what we are doing this weekend, thanks!

The trick on Koopa Troopa Beach can be done at normal size with a mushroom or by hoping at the top of the ramp. Both will get you in the tunnel.

programmers were drunk when they coded wario stadium. how could they not see the walls can be easily jumped

I belive most can only be done with the heavyweights. Bowser, DK and Wario.

i have an original 64 i got back in junior high school along with the original mario cart game...all of these worked on my game

lots of practice... I can do about half of these, but some I can never quite get (like the jump on royal raceway). Nice post!

I'd hesitate to call them flat out cheats. More like exploits and unintended shortcuts. You're not actually "breaking the rules of the game" so much as utilizing loopholes.

In DK Jungle, if you time the jump into that crevice JUST right, you don't even have to fall in the water and it counts as you did the whole lap. Try this!

Did they patch these in the latest update

On Rainbow Road if you curl even more you can hit the farther left side on the roundabout, cutting off 20 more seconds.

in royal raceway you can hike the mountain on the right of the jump, not a cheat, but a funny thing :) Nice video, i wanted to do this today, but you did something better!

On Rainbow Road where you make the big Jump. If you jump off to the right you can land on another part of the track and skip time.

Why can't there actually be judges that disqualify shortcut taking? But no, taking shortcuts is the PRO thing to do!

Okay here's a question about a glitch that I've ALWAYS wondered about. So you know how when you're far away from the computer players (you can also see this on the map), they don't explode when they get hit by shells or the chain chomps and launch into the air completely like you do as a player? Sometimes they're just launched into the air about a foot and keep going right away? I've been able to do it only when I'm going really fast, but is there a way to ACTUALLY do it whenever? Not sure if anyone can answer this.

I didn´t know this Mario Kart had so many track glitches!!! Some of them are easier than others, though!

@ModaVL This was recorded on an original N64. Not computer. Not really sure how to answer your question other than it is possible to jump like that. :S If you jump (Right Bumper) into a wall you hit it and get a big jump out of it and you can leap walls like i'm doing. What are the parts in the vid you think look suss?

Are all of these possible with lighter characters too? Especially the wall jumps without mushrooms

I played Mario Kart 64 ever since I found my old N64, and I never used these secrets and/or shortcuts.

I feel like I could never land the bridge one.

@inhaleforthose You need to be using a N64, not a pc version, anyways hop with right bumper (or whatever it's called) then hold a direction and you go into a slide, after you sliding with white e's coming out the exhaust you move the stick to the opposite side then back again really quick and this makes it yellow e's, do it again to get red e's and then release to get a boost...damn that's hard to explain

just saying i would hate to play mario kart against you. this game is fantastic and gets really competitive so people like you should not be allowed to be involved in the fun

Wow i knew of a few but that that was the only ones. Didn't know their was so many ways to cheat and do odd things.

It's missing the glitch in kalimari desert, when u have a star, enter in the second train line and use the star, and then u will receive a lap when u enter the tunnel (it only work with a star) [sorry about my english], may i helped

@josigrossi Time trial allows you to start with 3 mushrooms.

Most of these I couldn't complete or when I did I got a different result so I question if some of these work on all versions. Anyone have good results? Oh and yes I'm talking about N64.

I once did the one shown at 6:27 and as I was falling I somehow completed a lap, then I was placed just before finish line, went over it and I started lap 3. This glitch got me a 12 second lap in Jungle Parkway. I've done this one time and never could achieve same effect again.

these cheats work only on the computer right? cuz its impossible to jump like that on the nintendo 64. can someone help me, im confused. and if you actually can jump like that, how do you do it??
