This is a great concept but I would probably hate if this ever actually happened, as a member of Team 0% (SMM2 division), it’s my job to basically be the trash man of SMM2, playing the levels no one else wants to clear. I already deal with hot enough garbage as is, so imagine just how much worse levels could get in 3D. Imagine a giant empty void, with 1 platform to stand on, and a star high in the air. And to find it, you need to repeatedly do triple jumps in the space of 1 block to find invisible blocks, going up about 17 times in a row. You fall once, you either die or have to do it all over again. Or another example: giant rooms filled with Little Timmy’s enemy spam, and a hidden powerup that just lets you damage boost through everything. If you’ve played more than 1 hour of SMM2, you know these scenarios are not imaginary, they’re not speculation. It would just be worse in 3D. Yes, there’s a lot of great potential, but as we already know, 99% of it won’t be that. It’s definitely a bad idea, not because the game won’t work, but because of the community.

If your biggest reason to why a 3D mario maker shouldn't exist is an arbitrary rule self inflicted on oneself, then so many of the greatest games ever made wouldn't be as great as they are today. I just can't agree with just "There would be a lot of really mediocre levels that no-one wants to play" or with "It would be too hard for team 0%." because they are both arguments that go against the very nature of creation and creativity against all else that the mario maker series is all about.

There literally is mario odyssey edtior, that is a computer software that lets you edit super mario odyssey stages to make custom levels, custom moons etc. You have to put the files onto a modded switch or switch emulator, but nintendo hasn’t shut this down. Also, nintendo doesn’t care about older games that much.
